Ashes I - 2013 - In England

Blondie leg spinner fecking England once again.

England has just sent a night watchman to protect a no.9 batsmen!

What a session! Great day of cricket again.

 Prior you fecking spastic. Getting out to a slider from Smith.

That was a fecking ripper snare caught and bowled as well. If this lad could fecking land them regularly he'd be a great part time option. I still said when I first saw him in 2008 he should just be a leggy hat bats a bit. Good on him making a bit of an impact. It was a great rock to get rid of Bell.

Smith is repaying the faith, although I daresay England's players don't know too much about him though so haven't quite worked him out. I never expected him to get back into the test side after his bad start a few years ago.

I watched them in India. None of them can bat and your bowlers are much better than ours

Who are 'them?'

The line-up isn't exactly the same. And Indian wickets are the polar opposite to England's wickets.

Aus should bowl the England tail out for under 320 at least which is a great result on this pitch.

I hope this is a one off for England against Smith and that they work him out soonish like they eventually did with Ashwin in the Tests.

The new ball is the crucial thing, Australia will probably blow England away with it but if Bresnan and Broad can survive it (or the 1% chance that Anderson sticks around) they could score some heavy runs.

fecking hell, if he's not going to contribute with the bat then there's no point him being in the team. At least 3 better bowlers sniffing round the England set up.

Really not sure about the wisdom of picking Bresnan, he did very well in Australia in the Ashes but his performances have been sub-par at best since then, he's just not good enough (regularly anyway) to pick if we're only picking 4 bowlers, need an all rounder like Woakes or maybe Stokes (although he's been disappointing this year) in the team if that's the case.

No way in hell Stokes is good enough to be in the England team on the weight of his bowling. He just won't threaten test batsmen consistently enough. The only way I can see him in an England shirt is to work incredibly hard on his batting and provide a useful bowling option from 6.

Honestly though, I think he's too much of a 'modern' all rounder to play test cricket very useful T20 option can't see him ever making an impact on the test stage.

Also, Bresnan's averages courtesy of cricinfo. Batting average since 2011 of 15, bowling average of 50. fecking hell.

Pattinson has been awful so far.

This should be another decent test match TBH.

320 is worth 400 against this Aussie batting line up, but it's under par as the pitch is largely flat.

We're a good 100+ runs short here. Couple of Australian batsman are due a big score, can see them making near 500.

This is just like when India went to England. Work hard to get in a good position and then let England back in the game with ease.

Well patto bowled an innings of fruit and he looks to have got out ere.. Mays well review

 50 runs that shouldn't really e there if Aus are concerned.

They were all off the field

Happy with the total in the end after being 25-3 or whatever it was. Swann and Broad have got us back into the game. If we can keep Australia limited to 400-450 we still have a chance.

Given the amount of turn Smith was having expect Swann to run all over the Aussies.

Even if he gets a 5 wicket haul I can still see you guys making a big total. There's nothing there for the seamers. Harris was good but we gave our wickets away. 2 or 3 of our established batsman should have made a hundred on this pitch.

I reckon you'd be surprised. There was not really much movement off the pitch itself but Anderson is a world class swing bowler. Bell/Trott/Bairstow showed that if you get in and value your wicket you'll get at least 50.

I want to think that Watson will get runs here but I can see him throwing down the front stool again and getting out trying to play through the line. I am really hoping when Khawaja gets out there he does well. This is his really big chance to impressa nd he has a lot to prove.

Clarke is obviously the key and if he fires the Aussies can pile up a good score but still the rest of the line up is not that inspiring.

Also, I'm not an Aussie man.
