Ashes I - 2013 - In England

I suppose it could work, but don't see anything wrong with the current system.

I don't think you should lose a review if it stays with the umpire's call i.e. clipping the stumps.

Hard to say how well it works when you don't know the alternative, really. I personally feel like Umpires miss quite a bit to do with the bowler because they're quite rightly looking at the batsmen as much as possible.

There's got to be some adjustment with the eyes as well when you look up, so I reckon it would help them.

That encourages captains to go after marginal calls though because they have more protection.

Might work if you only had 1 review per side though.

The margins are so fine though, it's a bit harsh IMO to deduct a review if it's clipping and the umpire's says it's not.

Yeah, I agree but DRS isn't really intended for those sort of decisions and that would encourage it to be used in that way. I'm not sure you can give captains more reviews, effectively, and expect them to use it less tactically.

So you want the third umpire communicating to the match officials after every ball on whether it was a legal delivery or not?
They did actually do that for a while and I don't know why it stopped, I thought it was am eminently sensible use of the 3rd umpire, he only needs to say when it's a no ball, not every ball.

More off-field problems for the Aussies with Micky Arthur suing Cricket Australia and claiming Clarke described Watson and his faction 'a cancer'. He's also claimed racial discrimination for his sacking, which is a big claim to make.

That was part of my point but the practical form of it, great suggestion.

Arthur sounds like a bit of a gumby in truth.

Arthur must be taking the piss with the racial discriminiation claim

2 changes for Australia, Khwaja and Harris in for Cowan and Starc; England unchanged, apparently.

Oh god, ealier reports were wrong and Bresnan is in. Horribly reactionary from the selectors for a change.

15 minute late start because of the fecking Queen.

If she was going to engage in useless pageantry she could at least have got up earlier, the lazy scrounger.

I love the idea that Clarke and Watson hate each other and Clarke knows how much Watson hates bowling so keeps chucking the ball, only for Watson to keep bowling really well just to spite Clarke.

Well, my mind fecking boggles. How on earth can you give that out? He's hit the fecking cover off it.

Also bowl straight to cook and he'll get out or not score. :D

Bat first? I really think everyone has lost their shit with hotspot, not a clue what Atherton or Holding were on about.

Ah I see Shane Warne's back from playing poker.

For what it's worth that's out for me. It's clearly pad first, good decision

Well Bresnan's obviously come in because the England team know the batsmen are absolute mugs.

Great move to drop Starc and Cowan. Australia should win this 4-1 from now on.

Guize i got diz mad idea ima just bowl down leg side. We'll win da game for sure.

Just fecking hook it you spastic.
