Sorry, but the matches we've played this season, and in particular the last match has screamed to me that this is the one player we need to turn our fortunes around

Not sure about that. We've had lots of injuries and haven't seen a full first team with our new signings yet. Apart from the first game, only 1 of our new signings had joined the games. I'f like to see us in two weeks with Blind, Di Maria and Herrera in midfield, Shaw and Rojo in defence.

Do you seriously believe finances would be the only reason we are not?
Tied in with the fact were spending money on another CM in Blind then im not sure i can see us signing another midfielder. Hope to be wrong tho.

Nah. Valencia/Young and our defenders hoofing it and bottling it when put under pressure have been the problem, Vidal wouldn't magically make them better.

I agree. I don't think it matters who we sign at the minute it won't right our current problems. We need to regroup and come back after the break with a reunited team spirit, cohesion and we must be fearless. The way our luck is running at the minute we'll probably lose more players to injury during internationals.

It was also reported in the media that Blind was out back up option, and with Blind himself saying it all happened so fast in the last 24 hours, ties in with when we apparently pulled out of the Vidal deal.

Thread isn't funny enough to be a classic; if we don't sign Vidal, it'll also have been a big waste of time probably best forgotten.

I think we will monitor Vidal over the next few months, and if we believe his knee is fine we will be back in for him in January, along with strootman perhaps.

Our midfield would be ridiculously full, I think it will be Strootman/Vidal.

Would it though?

The way I see it next summer after a further clear out, we shouldn't be afraid of talking about having a midfield of this sort of strength, other clubs recognise the importance of it, why shouldn't we?:

Vidal, Strootman, Herrera, Blind and possibly Carrick but it depends how he plays this season. If last season was a sign of things to come and not just poor form under Moyes then his time will have come to an end.

Also out if they aren't already this summer: Anderson, Cleverley, Fellaini and Fletcher

How often have the transfer forum's muppet targets actually been signed?

I remember Berbatov happened..

Most of the other trasnfers came rather out of the blue.

We can hope so but remember when we were bad even with Robson in the midfield.

Come on Ed and Gaal make this happen...
I've been really cool all summer but after the start of the season we need him badly... Make it happen..

While this doesn't seem to be happening, I'm totally baffled as to why... considering that after 25k comments, we seem to have established that:

1. LVG wants him
2. Juve are willing to sell
3. The price would be relatively reasonable
4. We are prepared to spend big money
5. Vidal is interested in the move
6. His knee is working just fine

Which of these points have we got wrong?

One game is not a proof. Hargreaves was alright in his first season before it started going downhill. I don't know what the real reason is, but just saying.

Guys this is not happening, Hernandez going to Real proves that imo. We all know Juve wanted him so why didn't they ask for him included in some Vidal deal?, they know we want Vidal so.

Probably in the same way that Real didn't ask for Hernandez in part of the Di Maria deal.
Teams like doing these things separately. Swap deals are some kind of championship manager fantasy in the main.

Number 6 could be a long term concern

Yeah, obviously I have no idea why we wouldn't/don't want him but, for example, his knee could have swollen massively after the game last night for all we know. He could have been playing though pain. Most of the reports seen to suggest we're more worried about long term issues, such as tendinitis, rather than him being for immediately.

But I also suspect the price isn't as reasonable as some are making it out to be. Which would be a shame if the only thing stopping it was us finally deciding to stand the line in terms of the geese we're willing to pay this summer.

Ok then so why didn't they pay for him then knowing that they would be receiving £40mil or whatever for Vidal?.
Its not happening.
