Arturo Vidal

Articles today in both The Express and Daily Mail stating we have agreed a 5 year deal at 182k per week with Vidal and are just trying to put a package together for Juve before the deadline..

Interesting stuff.

I've defended the guy several times before, but hey, how hard can it be to buy a couple of decent footballers when the transfer budget has "no limit"? Any muppet could do it.

-How much for Vidal?
-He's not for sale!
-Here's £60m.
-Here's his number.
*Ring ring!*
Hello Arturo, we want you to come and play for the famous Man Utd!
-Ehhr thanks, but I'm pretty happy here!
-Your weekly wages will be....ONE BILLION pounds!
-Where do I sign?
-Oh, I almost forgot, how are your knees?
-Erhhh..fine thanks, why don't you check out my new youtube video of me training!?
*click*
-Hello? ...Mr.Woodward? Helooooo?
You should be ashamed of yourself.

i will never forget the Daily Mail bullshit about Kroos signing a contract for United.

We're that desperate that Juve hold all the cards.

It should really just be a case of Woodward ringing up and saying 'what's it gonna take?' and then when they quote a number, just pay it.

If that means overpaying then feck it, we need the player and we've overpaid for everyone else this window. We can't bargain at this moment in time.

Ah the Mail, gospel of bollocks.

I appreciate the sentiment but thank god you're not running the club.

One word - Hargreaves.

Vidal's knee and our medical staff have started to play on my mind (and I imagine Woodward's too).

Perhaps we'd be better off buying two cheaper, energetic mids/utility men? Blind and De Jong?

Vidal is a beast but the last thing we need is another Hargreaves.

Hargreaves' injury was tendonitis though, isn't Vidal only a torn meniscus? That's a fairly common knee injury and one of the easiest to fix and heal.

I love it.

"How much?"

"£500m."

"Done."

"And Kagawa."

"Great."

"And Hernandez."

"Fine."

"And Rooney, Van Persie, De Gea, Mata, Jones and Valencia."

"Alright then."

"And Di Maria."

"Very we-...............ah crap!!"

Yeah i have read other people say its not a bad injury Vidal has and is quite common. Imo we are just using the knee as a bargaining tool, if we don't end up signing him then i am wrong but i expect us to get him before the deadline, well if we really ARE in for him that is.

We'll get him...if we haven't already.

"That was a pretty good punchline wasn't it?"

"Was it?"

"Yeah, it was as good as Scholesy's predictions."

"Dawhohohohohohoho!!!"

It seems like there's too much out there at the moment for there not to be something being worked on behind the scenes.

Respect for the guy for trying to give us some info, but seriously I didn't understand 50% of that!
The general context if Vidal training by himself, regularly and that not being a problem seems clear.
Likewise the up and coming youngster Coman as possible replacement facilitating his release. Kagawa bit is more problematic. Tips cf assists?

United In Press coming on though the journos are ones that wouldn't know anything, Mathieson from MEN, some clown from the Express and Ian Herbert who is probably reasonably reliable. Let's see what Herbert says.

The fact that we approached him earlier in the summer is promising. I reckon we'll launch a bid soon going by the reports. Hopefully anyway.

I have always thought it a bit fishy that some Twitter journo's were saying we had agreed terms with Vidal weeks ago and then Vidal goes and sells his house etc. Its like its been all but done for ages now but why delay it?, it must be Utd using his knee to get a few million knocked of the price.

I just hope we are working on a back up plan if we can't reach an agreement with Juve. Last days of the window, if we get outright rejected now and aren't advanced in some other back up target we might be left empty handed.

Vidal is not a holding midfielder though, but a midfield trio of Vidal, Herrera and Di Maria would be ridiculously energetic and defensively adept. But we'd still have crap wings, and since I don't see us playing with a diamond I think Di Maria would be shifted wide with Carrick as a holding midfielder.

The issue isn't the initial injury. It is the fact he played during the world cup at the time he was suppose to be resting his knee after surgery (as confirmed by Chile NT manager).

Still not sure that front three have as much mobility and dynamism as you'd want.
