If we sign Vidal our rivals will be shaking in their boots. Maybe even the likes of Everton and Spurs as well.

"Watch this space" Was after Herrera and Shaw.

The only difference between now and start of the window in terms of United's stance on Vidal, is when Vidal played against AC Milan(we always needed midfielders anyway). That tells you what has been said all summer, Vidal's knee is the issue. If this deal happens then we are extremely lucky as Juve could of held out Vidal's first game back until after the transfer window shuts. Vidal does not want that to happen as he wants to leave if there is an opportunity (he said "my future is to train", in order to show Man utd nothing is wrong with his knee).

Hopefully Ed will do the deal.

I've never been confident of us signing Vidal (I wasn't with Di Maria either tbh) but I wish it would be done one way or another so we can move onto other targets as I feel another midfielder is needed.

Not much time left now to get either Vidal or someone else in. Window will close on the 1st September too with 31st being a Sunday right?

Feels like the speculation is a bit more substantial now than at any point earlier in the window. Seems very 50/50.

Level of substance throughout the whole window hasn't exceeded 5%.

I agree. And if Woodward pulls this one off I will personally order and send to him a huge cake with a picture of his own face on it.

I lost hope for any signings a few weeks ago (start of the season). Then out of the blue we signed di Maria. Now I think anything can happen!

In fairness most transfer sagas have very little substance and just amount to journos dragging out what little bit of knowledge they might have.

Why would we be in for him before the world cup and then not afterwards?, something fishy going on here.

Injury flared up after Chile went out didn't it?

Possibly waiting to see how it's going. Now he played on the weekend, maybe we're back in for him.

Erm... We signed Rojo before that

Yeh but the Vidal rumours quietened, so just thought we weren't going to spend on a 'marquee' signing. After the Rojo signing I just assumed we would get De Jong/ Blind. Now I have the feeling we're going all guns blazing on signings!

The dream

Vidal and di maria's arrival = the exit doors of cleverley fletcher anderson young zaha nani valencia and hernandez

We can always dream

Just checked and we've done about 600 posts since this time yesterday... if we maintain the current rate we should just about do it. Actually signing him should be good for a boost fo a thousand or so!
Signing him will result in the thread closure. We don't want to sign him just yet for that very reason alone.

Good point - in the old days things weren't so strict. The Berbathread went on for 30 pages after he was confirmed, I believe.

However, I just checked the ADM thread, and in the 24 hours before it was closed (once it was clear we were getting him), there were 1,600 posts. So as long as we leave it until the end of this week we should be home and dry!

@edwoodward

There is no summer transfer window for United where nothing fun's happening on deadline day. This year it's Vidal, i hope we get the fecker.

Personally I found last summer's deadline day more depressing than fun, but you might be into that sort of thing?

I'm hopeful that di Maria signing that it will but a charge into valencia I still think he can be a great winger seeing angel in training might inspire him. The rest will I agree

Here's something I just got PMd by an Italian newbie... God knows if he knows anymore than any of the rest of us, but I feel a may as well post it, given the effort he's put into writin in English!:

two last-minute news for
vidal it would not be in the saturday formation (source sky)
Training afternoon would not have to participate
The juventus it is quoted in stock exchange therefore before the closing cannot make official cessions
Moreover two problems had to be resolved.
1 price. The juve it wanted more money 40 mln £ + KAGAWA because another club (bayern?) from yesterday it has made an interesting proposal
2 juve have in hand a top plauyer in order to replace vidal (Falcao? or other)
without these the transfer is not shut

I see.

Is he saying that Vidal won't be in the starting line up on Saturday?
Didn't participate in afternoon's training session?
Stock exchange has to close before Juve announce anything in general?
Price needs to be resolved - Bayern has made an offer?
