Arturo Vidal

Reliable?

Not listened to TS for a good couple of years but those guys are just a bunch of jokers. IIRC it's not very serious show and they're not the type of guys that you'd expect to know anything of note regarding football transfers.

If Vidal is available, likely to be fine after his knee concerns and we've chosen to prioritise our budget on Di Maria, I'll be totally at a loss. Obviously Di Maria is a fantastic buy but LVG can't be blind when he sees the state of our midfield.

I know we bought Herrera but there seems to be some kind of supernatural power at our club that blocks everyone's mind when it comes to our centre midfield.

Well, it's pocket change to me lang.

I didn't reveal this before but I actually come from a very wealthy family, I'm imbued with diamonds across my edges. Pimped to shit.

Excellent news old chap.

I genuinely thought it was a bet for years. A bet that Ferguson had made with the other managers over a bottle of wine.

"Bet you I can snag a few titles with Giggs and Cleverly in midfield, you watch this!"

Some of us are making way too much of Vidal's knee.

Spend the money, bring him in and let him complete his recovery.

Yeah its not like we have had our fingers burned before buying a midfielder with a dodgy knee!

United have had mixed fortunes when signing players with dodgy knees. On the one hand we know how Hargreaves turned out, but then prior to that we signed Van Nistelrooy whose transfer had gotten delayed a whole year cause of his knee... and look what a brilliant signing he turned out to be..
Vidal should be worth the gamble, especially seeing how desperate we are for quality in that area of the pitch..

It's not them though. Hawksbee and Jacobs just do the afternoon show. They have a "man in the know" Warren Haughton who comes on and discusses all the transfer news. He DOES have some insider knowledge but mainly he reports what everyone else is saying or have been briefed. His own additions are sometimes reliable. I'm really hesitant with him though as in Fegies last summer transfer window he said "I GUARANTEE Wesley Sneijder will be a Manchester United player before the end of the window" He went on about it for days being absolutely nailed on. And we all know how that ended up.

Meh, I bet that story will get recycled now by some other sources.

Should not risk signing any player if there are question marks over his fitness. It really is due diligence 101. At this point I'd rather we signed some other CM because clearly some people at the club are not convinced with the state of Vidal's knee.

If we sign Vidal I believe it can be sorted relatively quickly imo. All the talk of us already agreeing term with his reps is probably true. The only hold ups would be the price due to the knee (which is convenient for us to make them sweat). They made so much noise about deadlines given to Vidal etc but that has all gone quiet. Why have the player and manager not put this to bed since, just like Fabregas did last year.
I think the name drop is key and phase one of operation Vidal. It's widely reported that they have contacted us over Hernandez. There would be no way we would discuss him without mentioning Vidal, the muppet in me believes this is ongoing and will go to the wire until Vidal will finally speaks. We will then sign him about 5 mins before the window shuts with little Pea going in the other direction. Concluding a very memorable last week of the transfer window!

Remember Owen Hargreaves?

Do you guys remember Van Nistelrooy?!
There were much bigger question marks on the fitness of his knee too..
Look what a signing he turned out to be..

These things can go either way... Vidal is worth the risk...

I still believe Woodward want's him as big statement signing.

He will be flown in a helicopter followed by the red arrows, spelling out the words "manchester is red" in red smoke. He will then light up a huge cigar ala the A team, and pose infront of the cameras with sunglasses on in a "deal with it" fashion. Perfect.

Sign him up, bring him over to Carrington and fail him if his scans show the same wear and tear as Hargo. We've been concerned about his knee for almost a month now, concern isn't going to heal him or reveal his future. Get it done Woody.

Awesome! The Red arrows are in Torquay tomorrow and here in Dartmouth Friday. LvG can do the presser from my pub

I think di Maria fits that bill but seems we're on a mission.

FFS I thought something concrete had happened when I saw this thread bumped up by a few pages
A lot more has happened in the last couple days in regards to English journos reporting our interest.

All the other links were from abroad and the English press were getting briefed we were now interested, not they're saying we are interested, but are worried about his knee.

Maybe this is just them trying to not look stupid and since the name drop from LVG they are making out they know something is happening. They've basically covered their arses.

I imagine Di Maria and Rojo will contract Manuniteditis shortly after joining just like Herrera and Shaw did, so I wouldn't be expecting to see much of them either.

It really is a crippling disease for us.Largely injury free players arrive at United and in less than a month are in the treatment room.

Seriously though,it's becoming a bit of a joke recently. Our whole player care system needs to be thoroughly overhauled.

He would be exactly what we need in midfield. He's tenacious and he plays with heart. But if that knee is a real issue I would be skeptical, he's not a player who will remain at the top of his game as his athleticism diminishes.

Fair enough, I still think there is a chance. He's had all Summer to come and say he's going nowhere but hasn't. You never know;)
Hope you're right. I don't think it's money thats stopping us but for whatever reason we haven't pursued this. Maybe it's the knee or we wanted him to ask for a transfer?

The knee thing is probably just a tactic to lower Vidal's price.
I'm failing to understand the logic in that.

"Hey Allegri, Vidal's knee is fecked, we'll give you 10m less!"
"It is?"
"Yeah, rekt"
"But our medical team didn't say anyth.."
"15m less"
... alright alright Ed, I trust you!"
