Arturo Vidal

Talk now is that a €40 million and Kagawa bid is the next move. Most likely rubbish.

I've largely avoided getting drawn into this, buy my god, if a player like Vidal is even remotely available, then we should be pulling out all stops (i.e. paying as much as necessary) to get him. That's the approach City took a few years back (buying Tevez, Silva, Toure and the rest), and, unsavoury though it might be, we need to do similar if we won't to get back into the top 4, let alone challenge for the title.

I'm confident that if we wanted him and he wanted to leave Juve, we would've already signed him. At least one of the two conditions hasn't been met imo, possibly together with a third that his knee is a bit dodgy.

Well I can see no reason why we wouldn't want him, but his not wanting to leave is certainly possible. That being said, a large enough offer would likely change his mind - sadly, this is what it will take for us to get back to where we need to be. The knee is certainly a concern.

Negotiations can take ages in terms of contracts and fees, so it is possible that it has dragged on for ages under the wraps.

I seriously doubt that's the case as there's no valid reason for something like this to drag on indefinitely when our other deals happen relatively quickly and out of the blue.

Palmeri is shite. The most reliable reporter in Italy is Di Marzio if he says anything about Vidal you can bet it's true.

Tancredi called Vidic to Inter before anyone else. On the other hand, journalists shouldn't be viewed as bestowers of clues that a transfer is going to happen and we shouldn't be following them around like rats seeking crumbs of information. The only true indicators are sites like the BBC (the non gossip part of their site) and official sites the buying and selling clubs.

Di Marzio reported Vidic to Inter at the same time if not earlier than Palmeri. I only started following Di Marzio this summer but the man is the king of Italian transfers absolutely accurate. Its true that we shouldn't blindly follow journos but there are good ones and hes one of the very best for me up till now.

When else could the Shaw deal have happened ? In the middle of the 2nd half of last season ?

Reports were saying we were wrapping it up at the end of the Premier league season, then we do so towards the end of the World cup. It wasn't "fast and out of the blue".

"Reports" also said he was leaning towards Chelsea at the time. The broader point here is that a vast majority of our transfers that actually happen, happen very quickly and not after long transfer saga threads. Look at all of our transfers from Ronaldo forward and there are almost no cases of lengthy sagas.

Vidal is simply the latest incarnation of desperate fantasticism fueled by dodgy tweets and journos who know how to draw people to their sensationalist articles.

There's still one more round in this thing. May not get him, because there will at least be one more wank session in this thread before the end of the window.

I think we are covering up some shite here. I doubt his knee is the issue here. If it was Juventus might want to sell him and cut their losses themselves. I think we should be more worried if Juventus were ready to sell him.

So Vidal gets a game, if he is doing fine with his knee it's time to make a bid :)

Think this one is over if we sign Di Maria. Can't see us spending anymore money especially if the fee for ADM is 60m euros.

Maybe we go after Strootman in January since he is Van Gaal's favorite.

Let's hope he doesn't talk to Pobga and Tevez though:nervous:

hehe true! :D but Evra has more charisma than those two combined! that was the main reason we let him go to Italy.

Vida and Evra, Manchester United Ambassadors (currently on duty in Italy)

after his first 45 min in a while, he looks around 70% fit. He just needs more football at this point.

His knees look al-right so far. Closed down opposition like he used to, he went down to tackle and receive some punishment from Milan defenders as well. Maybe a bit slow compared to his usual self.

I think we will become a better proposition to Vidal and many others once we sign Di Maria! Right now there are alot of top players reluctant to step onboard and rightly so. It only takes one great signing to change peoples perceptions overnight.

I don't think the problem is Vidal wanting to come though. If he didn't he'd just squash the rumor outright, which he so far has refused to do. Either we're just not interested, or we're concerned about his knee and are either playing the waiting game or have pulled out completely.

He has done very good for a player who has just came from a lengthy injury he has made so many successful interceptions. There reason why he has not been able to contribute in attack as much before is because of his lack of fitness which understandable. Hopefully, this will give hope to LVG and our medical staff that we should pursue with signing Vidal.

Have we actually got a medical team at United, sometimes I'm not so sure
