Arturo Vidal

That's not really my point. If he plays tomorrow, we'll have no conclusive way of knowing how much swelling, or how bad it was, if at all. So I don't think the match itself would matter. If we were looking to do something I doubt the match would matter very much.
IF Juve are interested in a deal, bit know we have concerns about his knee, they may allow our doctor or an independent doctor to examine the knee after the game.

I have to say, Man Utd rejecting Man Utd bids would probably explain how many of our potential transfers have broken down.

"Would you accept £40m? We bid £40m."

"Yes, those terms are acce--"

"REJECTED REJECTED REJECTED WE REFUSE OUR BID OF £40M."

"...wait, but you just said..."

"THIS MEETING IS OVER. I PLAY HARDBALL." *storms out of room, slamming door*

"...what the feck just happened?"

Ed's going to stop off on the way to Turin after making a slight detour from Madrid.

He's going to be lowered out of the chopper in a harness, grabbing Vidal with a cheeky wink. As the camera pans up, it shows Di Maria winding up the winch.

My lord Woodward is fantastic.

Sadly that seems far too close to what we have done the past two summers.

Hope that we can lure him the 31rd

If we really want to reduce his price, the deadline day will be perfect and dangerous too

He's what we need

He is exactly what we need but there is no way it is happening at this stage.

The transfer window isn't closed so I see no reason why not. Too much going on for it all to be rubbish. I suspect the knee is holding things up.

Juve won't sell without time to replace. This one is dead and buried. It should have been done. His knee could have been checked in a medical.

IMO it was buried about a month ago, not sure why we are taking so long to get another CM in.....unless LVG is crazy enough to think what we have in defense is sufficient.

We need him. :( Knee or no knee we should take the chance, if it fails it fails. We won't know unless we try. :(

I assume we take out insurance on players? What is the coverage like? Anyone know? For instance, did we get any payouts for Hargreaves?

Eh, knowing how insurance companies covers themselves from risk, they'll probably classify Vidal's knee as "pre-existing condition".

Quick google on my question...

Lloyds insurer offers top clubs revenue protection for player injuries and lost income from failed transfer deals

Underwriters are hoping to score by covering top flight football clubs against lost revenue if a star player sustains a long term injury - creating a new insurance marketplace worth £4bn.

The new product from FTSE 250 insurance group Hiscox, and specialist insurer Avoca (Other OTC: AVOA - news) , will protect each club up to £100m of lost income if a transfer deal collapses or the quest for silverware at the end of the season is thwarted due to serious injury to a squad member.

It will be offered to the top 40 European football clubs with revenues of over £100m, and also covers any injuries a player might sustain off the pitch.

Current insurance products cover a player's salary when sidelined through injury, or pay out a lump sum to the club in the event of injury-forced retirement, death or diasbility through an accident.

Dude, the day we sign him, I'll head straight to juventuz forum. They'll be going ballistic!

The issue here would be if the player has a injury before you buy and subsequently insure him.

I strongly suspect that Things you know, or should reasonably have known about wont be covered.

We're all running the gamut of emotions, eager beavers once second and then tortured depressives the next.

Can you imagine though, if we already had a deal in place for Vidal and had agreed terms with Arturo himself, but Woodward was just trolling us by waiting for 11pm on Deadline day to unveil him for mass Caf muppet explosions? That would be hilarious beyond all belief.

It would also be the dumbest thing to ever happen in Football.

Or just a higher rate?

Maybe - it all depends. Insurance companies work out premiums on risk. You can get insured for anything but it depends if its financially viable.

Dealing with insurance companies you learn one thing - they do everything they can not to pay out.

Not sure if there will be any consequence, but i think we are leaving this to deadline day if we do a deal. It might well be us wanting to see him play a match first before giving the nod. He will play his first match today, isn't it?

I've largely avoided getting drawn into this, buy my god, if a player like Vidal is even remotely available, then we should be pulling out all stops (i.e. paying as much as necessary) to get him. That's the approach City took a few years back (buying Tevez, Silva, Toure and the rest), and, unsavoury though it might be, we need to do similar if we won't to get back into the top 4, let alone challenge for the title.

Yeah but doing that can be kinda dangerous with regards to wage structure. Sure we will see if him actually playing a gem this weekend makes any difference to the current situation. Maybe this week all hell will break loose.
