I don't think just his knees were the problem. Vidal most likely didn't push for the transfer like Di Maria apparently has and many of the other players who signed for us this summer.

My opinion - this could still happen. He seems to want it abc whilst Juve are saying they don't want to sell, to me that smacks of the club nog wanting to lose face with the fans.
Something has been going on abc we've clearly been, or still are interested. Perhaps the knee injury is causing problems and that seems like the most likely reason if it doesn't happen.
Maybe di Maria signing will make him change his mind quickly.

Personally I don't think we will sign him and am convinced it's do do with the knee. If we are not 100% sure, that's absolutely the right decision. We'll never know as it's ethically completely wrong to announce that as the reason of our hesitation.
It's crystal clear where the gap in our midfield is and there are only 3 or 4 players of that type available in world football. If we don't go for Vidal now, well either pick up strootman in the winter or have another go at Vidal next summer if he is proven fit.
Personally I think we ballsed up for not getting Fabregas. We should have done whatever was required (ie high wages) to get him to OT. but for whatever reason LVG does not fancy him.
I am amazed that van Gaal passed up Kroos and Fabregas, and we may pass Vidal up. If it's do with his knees, fair. if it's because he believes he doesn't need him, then that is baffling.

I agree. Although I live in Arturo hope, I can't see us spending on another £35-£45m transfer after the Di Maria goes through. De Jong, although 30 and ex city would add a bit of steel to the midfield and would shield our struggling defence.
So many people are saying United will go for Strootman in January. He won't have been back playing long and if Roma are still in the CL why would they want to sell him then? But similarly, why has nobody thought that realistically, Vidal should have been playing for over 4 months by then, so why wouldn't LvG go in for Vidal then instead? Obviously Juventus wouldn't want to sell if still in the CL, but surely it's as plausible as a bid for Strootman?
You're right, he would do. I guess we do need that sorted quickly, even if it means waiting for a world class midfielder for a year.
Doesn't make much sense to not sign him because of his knee, it was his first major injury and Strootman's injury is more serious and he wouldn't cost much less imo. He played yesterday too and I am sure he will be world class next season, but most likely not in a United shirt.
Yep, if Vidals knees are a risk then fair enough, we don't want another Hargreaves. De Jong will be a season fix. Let's get back into the top 4 and spend big on Strootman next summer. No on knows how he will recover yet, he's only just started training.
