Why can't that be true? It's possible for this deal to break down over the fee.

Not over us refusing to pay the fee - not after everything Woodward has been spouting. He's desperate for a big signing. There are many ways this deal may not happen - us pulling out cause we don't want to pay the fee is not one of them.

Depends on how much juve want. If juve want 60 million pounds well probably back out.

As for our big talk, it happens every summer.

It aint going to be 60m. Its between 40-50m which is to be expected for a player of his calibre, while considering our current lack of quality in that position. As I said, I don't for one second doubt this can fall down - it just wont be over us refusing to pay what Juve want.

As for our talk, yes it does happen - but this time we have someone at the helm who is eager to have his ego massaged. LVG likes the player, Woodward gets his marquee player. Job done.

Yup, there was more concrte evidence that Thiago would join United last summer. It seems people are going along based of faith, hope and the power of social media alone.

From a theorictic footballing perspective, I can not see this move happening either. Based of a tactical hypothesis that I can not see Van Gaal opting for two numbers 8 and an attacking wingback that has shown little proficiency in defense. Three man in the back may accomodate two box to box midfielder, but in the past, Van Gaal seems to always opt for a number 6 in his system. Of course, their is a possibility that Herrera can become a number 6 or we push our centerback more forward and adopt a 1-2-3-2-1-2 formation, but this 1-3-5-2 system has been working well in pre-season so far with a number 6(Fletcher), alongside a number 8(Herrera). With the rumored addition, in Vidal and Cuadrado, I can not see how a midfield will be balance with those attack minded players. However, like van Persie, we may look at this situation as an offer to good to refuse, as such tactical equalibrium may just be thrown out the window because of how good these players are. And we will somehow work around them, to incoporate these players into the team.
Not at all, it seems like people flat refuse to beleive anything that doesn't come from the English Press, La Stamps and the Chilean National Coach are very good sources, why would you devalue them? Its clear the British press are being told nothing about our incoming transfers which is why foreign sources have taken precedence. The fact that at no point has Juventus told us he isn't for sale (without adding the word but) seems to have slipped the neigh sayers minds too. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that there is definite interest.

The 'typical' LVG argument seems to have gone out of the window, especially with the implementation of our 3-5-2 system. I can completely see Herrera being converted to a #6 but he and Vidal both have complete games, there's no need for a specialist DM.

I've been confident all summer because I believe that Woodie is as desperate for marquee signings as we are and I further feel that we have more than one marquee signing en route.
I cannot wait for next season!

It doesnt help that Ed etc. come out & yell that we're friggin minted & are ready to break transfer records.

Should have just came out & said we're broke due to servicing the debt & the cost of keeping Sir Bobby's comb-over alive in a special research facility on the International Space Station..

It was a question to him, it did not reflect my opinion. I never claimed that price is outrageous. Would actually be a very good fee for a player like Vidal, almost a steal even. Probably one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment, on the same level as Modric and Yaya.
If you had been sure you wouldn't have had to ask the question.

Barca have their "More than a club" moto & ours is: "There's no value in the market.."

Vidal's been world-class at club-level for a number of years - Modric has had one season, which was last season..

I'd have Vidal over those two, every day of the week..

Im struggling to find the Ogden quotes anywhere, what did he say? the ancient old line that the club have denied any contact?

I'd take Vidal over Pogba any day of the week, our midfield has needed for a Keane-replacement for a long time and Vidal is the closest thing in world football today to that.

Exactly!

Pogba seems to get unwarranted "best player on the pitch" accolades far too often. It happened at the WC & i thought i must have watched a completely different match.

He's some way to go to be regarded as a great player yet. Vidal is the real deal & has been for many years..

I've never known a club to have more drawn out transfer sagas than United have... Never an easy process whether we end up getting the guy or not

What are you on about? The Fabrehas to Barca saga went on for about 2-3 years and the Ronaldo to Madrid about the same. Modric saga lasted a while, as did the Bale saga.
