Turin newspaper La Stampa caused quite a stir on Thursday when they claimed Arturo Vidal had agreed wages with Manchester United. That was just the taster of their story online, the newspaper version had much more including a claim that Vidal had told teammates he fancies the move. The conversion of the wages by many of the British newspapers said Vidal had agreed a deal worth around £180,000 per week. On Friday La Stampa, where that figure was converted from yesterday, quote the figure in sterling... at an eye watering £200,000 per week.
La Stampa also say a deadline has been put on the deal. Juventus would prefer that if Vidal is off to Manchester United that it happens within 'a few days', they don't want this dragging out any further and would like to have time to spend the money to replace Vidal. By 'replace' that doesn't mean like for like, La Stamps reckon Juventus already have someone to take over from the chilean in midfield, after purchasing Pereyra this summer.
Therefore Juventus would be looking for a big name signing to appease supporters and give the club a lift should 'King Arturo' walk out the door.
A deadline of August 15th has been stated for Manchester United to make a bid and complete the deal. That's the second deadline reported by the Italian press, the first was August 6th because that's when Juventus were set to go on their pre-season tour. That date came and went and the Italian outlets who quoted it ignored that they'd ever mentioned it come the 7th!
