Arturo Vidal

My Chilean mother-in-law said that it was just announced that Chile will be playing a friendly here in South Florida in September.

Another clear sign that this ON.

And to add to that, they're playing Haiti. The significance being that last summer, Spain played Haiti here....featuring future United record signing Juan Mata. So it may be January before Vidal joins breaking a new club record, but it's so ON.

One thing I will say is that if you did sign Vidal do you expect to spend more on top of that? It will mean you will have spent in excess of 110 million already.

Yes, I would still expect us to bring a defender albeit not a top one - more in the line of someone like Vermaelen for £10m or so.

Besides we paid £27m for Shaw and £28m for Herrera - £55m total. You are saying £110m but Vidal would not cost us £55m.

Woodward has infinite amounts of money to spend. I'm surprised you've not heard. He's told everyone else.

I'd expect another CB, and possibly a winger/wingback. I'd also expect a few departures to drop the net spending down a little - we can manage anywhere from £30-50m dependent on who we let go, (Nani, Anderson, Fellaini, Kagawa, Hernandez etc...).

I think the Vidal rumoured price is in euros. So it will be roughly £95m if we do sign him which is still a lot of money. Add a defender and I'm sure we'll be looking at £110m maybe more.
There will be more out goings surely and at the end of the day the team needs to get back challenging ASAP so spending big is necessary. Although I doubt the Glazers will want to make a habit out of it!

So Juve won't negotiate for less than 50 million Euros? what does that mean; if we put in a bid for less, then they will just not bother negotiating? Or 50 million is the lowest they are accepting.

This gif would be perfect in the disastrous event that we don't sign him:

With Vidal as Miley, the space ship as the caf and assorted caf muppets as the crew

If we signed Vidal it would help free up Carrick to play as one of the defenders (which I reckon is what LVG may go for if we sign another midfielder). Then we'd really only need another defender, probably a left sided one who could cover Shaw as well which hopefully wouldn't cost a huge amount as yeah with 110 of spending and 37.5m on Mata in Jan that's a lot in a short period of time.

Just get this guy signed, so we can move on to adding numbers (and quality) to our defence.

I would say 50m euros (~40 quid) should easily do the trick - probably we want to pay less around 40m, which is fully understandable as SerieA clubs are in no position to let offer like this go away.
Two years ago Thiago Silva was sold for 42m, in his prime, same age as Vidal now. To PSG, which is always paying over the odds.

Last couple of weeks were very quiet, but somehow I'm confident about getting it done.
Kroos moved to Madrid, Fabregas to Chelsea, who else needs a top midfielder? Bayern's well stocked with some new players (Rode), City got Fernando, probably only PSG can match our offer, whatever that offer is.

Get this done, Eddy!

TURIN - (ee) Hands by Arturo Vidal. The people black and white does not want to see him emigrate to Manchester United. One of the heroes of the three consecutive championships, in fact, is in the hearts of fans and rumors (but now Allegri and keep repeating: "Stay with us"). Outside the hotel venue of the retreat, the Lingotto, the fans call on the Chilean and begging not to go away. He smiles and makes photos with everyone, signing autographs and does not seem at all upset by the situation. And the usual question repeated in Vinovo (remains at Juve?) Replied: "SIIIII." The agent Fernando Felicevich, meanwhile, is in London, undertook to establish the agreement with QPR and Mauricio Isla to Medel away from Cardiff to joining Inter. Then, you will Artura King and the fear of the fans is that contact in the course Galielo Ferraris oferta United's offer irrinunicabile (is from 45 to EUR 60 million, with the fa

I don't think we are in for Vidal yet i did think that something might of happened today IF we were in for him but alas nothing. The days keep ticking by now with nothing new.
You have to ask yourself when is the time to seriously start accepting that we are not in for him?

It hasn't even begun yet. Wait till we leave the USA then the focus is transfers.

Stop using Essien's calculator.

September 1st

But I'm sure we won't have to wait that long

As other posters have said before its not going to happen util the team are back from the tour. I would not be in the slightest bit surprised to see it taking off on Tuesday with him possibly arriving into carrington on wednesday. and no I'm not ITK just a feeling...

Could be difficult with him probably beeing in Asia on Wednesday and all that.

Whenever I read people writing about how badly Juve fans would react if Vidal was sold, it sounds as if it would be the total collapse of their own universe. Last year when there were rumors of Ronaldo leaving, the Madrid fans had to kiss his ass literally with displays of public affection to have him signed on a new contract. Seriously, why is that?

For some reason, I just can't find the slightest memory of the last time we United fans had to go this far to try keeping one of our players. Is that normal?

Hererra cost 20 something. Shaw 30 million. You don't seriously think Vidal will cost almost 60 million quid?

Shaw £27m rising to £29m. Herrera £28m.

@ItsEssexRob If we land Vidal, I see us getting Vermaelen or similar for £10-15m and leaving it at that. LVG seems pretty pleased with a number of the youngsters as back-ups.

It's all speculation at this point-so all theories are valid.

If one of the issues is that Vidal is trying to leave without alienating Juve's fanbase (which I think is not a factor) then he needs to grow up fast. As the old saw goes-you can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs.

United fans wished Ronaldo well as it was clear that he wanted to play for Real for all of the right reasons (love of the club, etc.).

Vidal will be perceived by Juve fans as leaving for more money-and will resent the transfer because it will expose a hard truth-that Serie A is not in the elite league with England, Spain and Germany when it comes to money.

However-my mood swings from "where there's smoke there's fire" to: Vidal and his agent are just making things up to get more money from Juve coming off the WC.

In other words-I have no clue.
 Yeah, right.

Okay, to stop myself going insane having my hopes raised and destroyed 10 times a day, I shall adopt a new policy: I will no longer check the Transfer forum. Instead, I'll go straight to the United one, and I'll know the situation by whether or not there is a thread called "Arturo Vidal - 2014/15 Performances".

Please don't create a fake thread to troll me, I don't think my heart would be able to take that level of soul crushing...

To be fair if Shaw is at 30 million than Vidal should be about 90 million!

Fortunately, since you sold David Luiz for £50m we should be getting £30m each for Fellaini and Anderson, which will be handy!

And again, Shaw was £27m. I know it suits your argument less, but facts can be like that.
