Like us Allegri will be implementing his system and new signings on the tour. It is correct that if he's off on tour we may as well forget it. His agent will be working double time if he's to be off on Sunday. I have to say I would have hoped for something to have been done by now if he is coming. Tomorrow and even Saturday will be ultimately telling.

No kidding but do you really think this transfer will happen if he goes on tour?
I'd say it's likely he'll come out and say he's staying or leaving before their tour

Remember the optimism when hererra and shaw signed. feels like a lifetime ago.
Still a month left and the reason we are taking so long this year is clearly because Van Gaal joined up very late, only 2 weeks ago infact.

Van Persie did.
Different situation IMO. If we're as close to a deal as reports say then why risk the chance of him getting hurt playing in a pre season friendly against some team in Australia? You have to protect your potential investment. The way I read the situation, if he gets on that plane and the destination is Asia, he's not signing for us.

Or they really are playing hard ball as far as negotiations stand so getting him on that plane (the price of a plane ticket?!) is a sign of intent from them.

They don't have to play him, he's not fit enough yet anyway...

How so? By all accounts we were very close to signing RVP when he went abroad with Arsenal. Obviously in that situation (and in this one if there are indeed negotiations going on) United would want to protect our investment, but until we sign him there's no reason Juve can't play him. They don't care about protecting our investment. They don't even want us to sign him. The same was true of RVP - Wenger didn't especially want to sell him, so there was no reason for him to wrap him in cotton wool while negotiations were going on.

The situations vary. Going back to Madrid and how they handled Bale's situation last summer, I thought it was odd he was conveniently hurt throughout their summer tour and was then on holiday in Spain when the season started for Tottenham. RM probably felt they were close enough to a deal that they wouldn't want him playing for Spurs for risk of injury.
But really at the end of the day, the distraction needs to end for all parties. If he goes on tour, it's going to drag this on further.

I thought this page got deleted cause the tab says 'Page 404'

same here i thought the thread had gone into a black hole, updates on the alleged transfer have

Man United to complete big deal in next 24 hours
Reports have claimed Arturo Vidal is reportedly set to demand a move to Old Trafford within the next 24 hours.

The midfielder’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, is allegedly ‘working around the clock’ to negotiate a move for his client to The Red Devils in the coming week.

Now, the Metro website claim Felicevich is set to meet Juve director Giuseppe Marotta later today to inform the Serie A champions that the 27-year-old wants to join United.

Vidal passes Man Utd medical tests

The €60m-rated midfielder has passed medical tests in Chile to check up on his injury status. Now just a final agreement on the transfer fee between Juventus and Man Utd stands in the way of a deal going through.

How is this different from the other similar tabloid bullshit we've been seeing all week?

Sorry, I've got a sense of déjà vu about this.

This is one of the oddest transfer "sagas" so far. Normally there's little tidbits of genuine news to keep the fire burning for a bit, but this one seems to have nothing but the same old rehashed news stories with little base.

I would love nothing more than Vidal at United but I am just so bored of this. There has been no news at all and yet all we hear are pointless updates.

Funny how he passed a medical in Chile yesterday even though he was in Turin......

Any semi-reliable reports one way or another? Has anything happened since Allegri said that Vidal isn't leaving?

I've given up. It is just inevitable that this will be the saga of the summer. At least I didn't fall for it as much as I did last season when it was Fabregas/Alcantara

We tried to buy Hazard...

No, we just had conversations with his agent, who wanted a ridiculous fee and SAF said no, that was that. City did the same.

Chelsea were his only option that summer.

Think the conversation would have went something like "Chelsea have offered us x amount can you match or better it" and SAF decided not. But we clearly went for him.

We did. Lille accepted all three offers from United, Chelsea and City but Chelsea blew everyone away with wages and while United and City rejected to pay the agent fee.

Yep I agree buddy.
