Agreed. RVP was better and more sought-after than Costa. Oscar was just a promising Brazilian kid, hardly an established star. Hazard's purchase pretty much the same as de Gea's, except that we got de Gea without paying an agent £6m. Chelsea are really no better at transfers than we are these days. Certainly not up there with Madrid and Bayern.

All news you have read are fake, it's really funny because in Italy we listen Marotta saying "Vidal want to stay in Juve" and then english newspapers translate it in "Vidal and Marotta talked about future because Vidal want leave Juve"
Vidal did medical visits with all Juventus players, and then english newspapers write "Vidal did medical visits to join United"
If you need some explanations feel free to ask me, but trust me, all news you read in England about Vidal are totally false.

From your earlier examples of Costa and Hazard, Costa was obviously bought by a triggered release clause with no other reported competition for his signature. Hazard was bought because they threw the money at him, his agent and Lille that was required. I see your point that they can, and clearly have, competed for top players, but only in the same way clubs like City, PSG and Monaco have. FFP is bringing an end to this and that will only benefit clubs like ourselves.
