Liverpool can't attract the true elite of the game, that's been long established.

Its kinda amazing to go into RAWK and see them attempt to delude themselves that they have a shot at Vidal (or any player that we really want) over us.

That thread was amazing. I was threadbanned from it on about 5 separate occasions.

I was in the newbs when that thread was in its heyday and I wished I was a full member so I could have contributed ... that thread was a riot!

:D

No!!! :)

Find me some good SVG smilies and I'll consider changing them.
I really think the Colin smiley could take off Niall

They've already had one Chilean star steadfastly REFUSE to go to Liverpool this summer.

With all the news about United coming out of Italy and Chile, not England, I can't help but wonder if this has all been a move to drum up suitors. As if they're saying, "Hey Carlo, Pep, and Brendan, United are about to sign Vidal. No really, they are! But there's still time for you to get into the mix. Anyone?"

If United are truly not interested, then it only makes sense that there are concerns over his knee (or at least relative to the price Juve want), considering that the first denials from United came just a couple of days after reports surfaced that we had contacted Chilean doctors about the knee. And if we are not interested, concerns over his knee could also explain why there have been very few rumors of others being interested.

Thats the same process why the Cavani rumours are still being perpetuated, Moyes probably made an enquiry months ago and the papers have been using it to get click-throughs.
Maybe its the same with Vidal, we made an enquiry and for heath or financial reasons we have not pursued it.... which would be a massive loss IMO.

This was the summer to spend big and get us back on top, LVG should be given a squad that can compete with City and Chelsea and we have a ways to go before that is the case.

In all fairness, we dont/cant sign the elite either, we leave that to Real, barca, Bayern, PSG, City and Chavski.

What defines an elite player? we can't sign the Ronaldo, Messi and Suarez'(not that we'd want to sign him.) over Madrid and Barca, but we can still sign elite players. Mata, RVP and Rooney who he recently signed on another long term contract are surely in that category.

What he means is players that are really hot in the market right now I think. Don't totally agree but he has a point. Mata wasn't "hot" in the market (but definitely elite)

We've got to this stage, it's been going on all summer and you think there's nothing in this? Really?
I think we were interested but not
Anymore. Other wise we'd have more solid sources reporting then papers in Chile.

Handy little catch up article, for those like me who've just got home from work and didn't realise there was some bollocks about him having passed a medical today

You hit the nail on the head

If we get Vidal if proves we can, let's see.

And if Liverpool signed Reus it'd prove they could. Basically, its all hypothetical.

Wasn't that long ago we signed Mata. Does he count?

Mata was basically transfer listed. I don't think he proves we can attract the elite of the game, not in the same way Madrid/Barca/Bayern/Chelsea do.

To do that, we need to sign players that clubs don't want to lose.

If we're not in for him then that is retarded. Would literally make no sense at all. Arguably the best in the world in a position we badly need to strengthen, seems open to coming and we seemingly have no competition for his signature

I'm not sure Chelsea deserve to be in that list. Who have they attracted recently who doesn't count as 'transfer listed' any more than Shaw does?
