I have to leave home in about 40 minutes for work, any chance he'll be announced before then?

I want to be on RedCafe when it happens  Need to time this ish right.

When have we ever gone out and bought a world class sort after player for 60 million whilst not being in the UCL.
Kind of a cheap get-out clause you've added to your question, there. Every single thing we do this off season is going to be without precedent in the UCL age, because we've always been in it. Technically, before this season, we have never missed out on a potential UCL spot, so everything is a 'first', so asking for precedent is stupid.

No it's a legit point. Players want the champions league. Sorry but it's a reality and some don't want to wait to see if we get it in a years time.

I think you'll be safe mate, in fact take your time and leave a tad earlier. Treat yourself to a Latte on the way.

Absolutely nothing

This thread is like something that belongs in the Generals now, not the transfer section.

Italian papers all saying we're coming in with an official bid tonight of €60m (£47.5m), which will be brought to the table by Vidal's agent.

Vidal arrived back to training earlier today and passed a medical and is now due to have a meeting with Allegri about his future while Allegri is expected to make press conference or at least an official media briefing.

So yes, plenty to talk about.

Don't let that dream fade, Pex baby. I love it when there's news (gossip) to read - it's the bullshit inbetween (small talk) which grates :)

I put laxatives in my coffee at work today just so I get more toilet breaks to check the thread on my phone.

oh wait he isn't signing move on muppets

What is this transfer going to say of Andy mitten's credentials if it goes through???

He said our primary target is Hummels, which is nowhere near happening.

Juventus is coming to Australia soon. On Facebook, fox sports Australia said "get ready to welcome, Gigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba and Carlos Tevez

(Transfers pending of course)

Have you seen the list of players City signed before they played in the Champions League?

To be honest, I don't quite get the time restraints being put on this. Why tonight? Why hasn't a bid already been made? I know he's back in training but so what? I fail to see why tonight is all of a sudden important in a bid being submitted.

I've said all along - Mitten knows as much as us fans, he just gets the odd bit of gossip that we don't. He plays the guessing game most of the time IMO of course.

Seems like this is a dead deal. He's back at Juve carrying on as normal with no official bid from Utd.

Allegri will confirm he's staying tomorrow and we can let this thread hibernate till next Spring.

They were prepared to throw obscene amounts of money though in terms of transfer fees, players wages and agents fees etc to ensure they'd get deals over the line. Can united do that? Are they prepared to do that? We'll see soon enough.

Would those same players want to wait and see whether a club that has just got into the Champions League for the first time in 4 years manages to get in again next season?

Least of anyone's worry. And yes , it doesn't do too much these days. He may as well be a target but getting him is a different case altogether.

This. Any rich club - and we are a rich club, don't get your knickers in a twist over that debt without first looking at the debts seen at other clubs - will naturally spend big if they want to be a serious CL club but aren't making the grade. If you think United don't want to, I'm baffled.

It's one thing to be a CL club, quite another to be a CL club with a chance of winning it. Perhaps a player may believe that, in the next four years of their career, they have a better chance of winning the CL with United than they do with Juventus.

Monday, July 28th, 2014, A.D.

Woodward arrives into Turin, kitted out in black leather and Gucci sunglasses, with a massive golden chalice he's drinking vintage classic wine from. He smirks as the camera pans in on his tanned, gloriously smooth face, knowing that he's about to rip the f*ck up of this feeble little town. He jumps in his pink Bentley driven by Dappy/Jaybezia, "alright mate, take me to Vidal." "Vidal? Sir I'm not sure where he ..." "just fecking drive, I'll show you where to go."

He didn't know where to go, they arrived four days later, but Woody still looked immaculate. Dappy was dead from exhaustion, Woody didn't care, he knew he was a necessary sacrifice. He strolled into the Juve offices, demanding to see Marotta. Supposedly Marotta had been locked in his room with a big giant c*nt of a shotgun, waiting. "STAY BACK ED!", he shouted.

Woody laughed, took out a cigar and lit it. "Open the door, Beppe, it's time". "You're not taking him Ed, I told you, you can't have him, I'll f*cking shoot you Eddie, I will". "No mate, you won't." Ed fecks the cigar on the ground, a huge explosion occurs (where the hell did the fuel come from? - the Juve staff wonder). The door explodes open, Marotta huddled in the corner in fetal position, burning. "OK, OK Ed, you win, just ... just take him". Marotta dies.

A hidden door unravels, Vidal steps out, kitted in a Utd kit. Confetti and fireworks are raining behind him. "I'm ready, Ed, let's go".

I thought someone would have posted this tweet in here by now

Aa but Mathematical convention is to round up from 5. So you get 23, which is Cleverley, a central midfielder.

ArturDONEDEALIO !

It is nearly 10:30 pm in Australia so do I risk staying up for the mupptry or do I sleep and have good dreams of a Herrera-Vidal-Mata midfield?

We pay wages that only 4 or 5 clubs in the world can afford and 3 of them are oil clubs. I'm sure we can easily attract players without UCL.

@RedSky so it isn't 20.5m then. So, are Juve that hard up that they need to sell Vidal to cover 13m? I understand your point about their new stadium, but I'm sure with that in mind Juve would have a transfer budget of more than 13m, no?
