Arturo Vidal

Vidal is the new Kroos in that he's the ultimate muppet fantasy but deep down we all know there's more chance of David Moyes being voted FIFA world manager of the year than Vidal coming here....Once his transfer to Real Madrid is announced after the World Cup, despite the mirror and Daily Mail constantly telling us between then and now that we are on the verge of signing him.......then quickly to the Daley Blind thread it will be

Would be a top signing, but IMO a Schweinsteiger type player is by far more likely this transfer window, with Strootman a cert to come as soon as he is ready (to replace Carrick), if LvG sees Mata as the creator in front of these players then we could have a fantastic midfield all of a sudden, Vidal would be great but for the sake of sanity I just can't contemplate it.

PS newly promoted member trying to ease my way in, nothing too in your face too quickly is the advice apparently.

Would only take about £100m and them both leaving the Champions of their leagues and joining a club outside of the CL. :wenger:

Sad and shocking reality of the mess we are in after the Moyes debacle.

You're being very sensible :)
Some don't like being brought back down to reality, that's all.

Can we have 'Arturo' added to the thread title?

It's mildly annoying when 99% of the other threads have their full names.

Also, sign him up!...or something player related.

How about Arturo Erasmo Vidal Pardo?

Mildly annoying! I'm fecking fuming!!!!

Does Vidal have any reason to leave Juventus? His winning trophies, playing with some great players, and loves the club.

I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be the only club either, Madrid despite saying they aren't interested won't just let us sign him and they have a history of signing players for the sake of it, City won't pass up the chance to get in the perfect replacement for Yaya, then you have PSG, Chelsea who won't pass on signing one of if not the best midfielder in Europe.

Vidal and his buddy Sanchez would be wankworthy! We've had to put up with that shit Castillo del diablo advert for a long time so we deserve this in return.

Louis van Gaal’s World Cup homework has re-ignited United’s interest in Chilean powerhouse midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Reds boss has been studying the form of Holland’s Group B opponents Chile since the finals draw in December.

On Friday, the Dutch kick off their World Cup in Salvador against holders Spain while, three hours later in Cuiaba, the Chileans will start with a game against Australia.

Van Gaal will have his spies at that match and has also prepared a dossier on the South Americans in the run-up to the finals.

He will have that file updated on Friday and will also add to it when Spain play Chile in Rio de Janeiro a week on Wednesday while Holland are in Porto Alegre playing the Aussies.

Van Gaal will finally come face-to-face with the Chileans two weeks today in Sao Paulo and though his focus will be on Holland’s Group B fate, there will also be a keen eye on their opponent’s midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Holland coach has already warned his side that Chile have ‘very dangerous players.’

He was keen on taking Vidal to Bayern Munich when he was in charge of the Bundesliga side between 2009 and 2011 and went on to admit: “I always wanted to buy Vidal when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but he went to Juventus.”

The 27-year-old was heavily linked with United before the January transfer window in the David Moyes era.

The then-Reds boss identified that United’s engine room desperately needed a box-to-box midfielder and Vidal, nicknamed ‘The Warrior’ ticked the boxes for the job. He also adds goals to the party with 18 coming in 45 appearances last season for Juve.

Now Van Gaal is considering a second effort to land Vidal from Juventus where he has formed a formidable midfield partnership with ex-Reds FA Youth Cup winner Paul Pogba.

The French ace has also been linked with United but Juventus want £60m for him and, after letting run down his Old Trafford contract and leave for Italy for nothing three years ago, it would be an embarrassing financial U-turn and hardly a sound business move for the Reds to buy him back.

Clearly, however, Van Gaal wants to find a dominant engine room force and, as well as Vidal in his mind, he has also given executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward the task of exploring if Bastian Schweinsteiger can be lured from Bayern.

Schweinsteiger, who scored against United at Old Trafford in the Champions League quarter-final but was the sent off and missed the second leg, was a key component of Bayern’s double win in 2010 under Van Gaal after the Dutch boss converted him to a holding midfielder from out wide.

Schweinsteiger can also play in a more advanced midfield role which appeals to Van Gaal’s ethos of having flexible players in his squad.

But with fees of around £40m bandied about for a 29-year-old, United would have to do some knockdown negotiating for a move to succeed.

Van Gaal is also waiting to discover whether a move for another Bayern star – Thomas Muller – has any potential. He has revealed he is seeking a meeting over his future.

Muller was one of Van Gaal’s successes at Bayern when he promoted him to the senior side. The forward has admitted he has a special relationship with the United manager.

Fellow German, Mats Hummels, the Borussia Dortmund defender, remains a United target.

Stuart Mathieson seems to be somewhat clued up from time to time, I think he gets some of the briefings Ogden/Ducker/Taylor get.

Manchester United midfield

I have this feeling that if we do buy him it'll be post World Cup.

When you look at the permutations that involve people trying to get players off Juventus and Bayern there's just too many possibles and the selling clubs and the players won't be rushing to deal. I can't imagine Juve losing Pogba and Vidal, or Bayern losing Schweinsteiger and Kroos. We're not the only ones looking for midfielders - Barca, Madrid and PSG have all got their tentacles out and someone has to move first.

Please don't do this to meee
Would cry from happiness if we got Vidal.

Not gon' get my hopes up
