Arsenal 22/23 - go to new thread

I honestly would rather City won it. I forgot how much I hated Arsenal when they were mediocre for a while and now, with Arteta as easily the most annoying manager, they’re close to Pool in how much I dislike them.

Oh yeah equal hate with scousers again now

Generally believe they’ll win it from here. When these last minute winners keep going in it seems inevitable

Exactly the same: played 26, points 63. The 2008 side had a better goal difference.

Looking at the results what did it for Arsenal were the dropped points in March (Wigan, Villa, Middlesbrough) - usually bankers. People tend to overblow the Gallas meltdown.

Genuinely think the competitors back then were better too. Peak Chelsea and United teams.
Taylor breaking Eduardo's leg definitely had an impact on our title chances that season. Those games you mentioned above came straight after that. van Persie was injured (as usual) and Adebayor was badly out of form so without Eduardo we didn't have any goals. The squad was quite young and it was such a horrific injury that I'm sure it affected them too.

Find that strange if I’m honest. Can’t relate at all. Liverpool and City are our biggest rivals geographically. We have to share a city with one of them!

In addition we all know how despicable City have behaved.

City don't invoke the same hate as scousers or Arsenal do for me,thought of them lifting that title makes me feel sick to my guts

As I say, can’t relate to that. Perhaps it’s because I’m from Manchester and literally mix amongst City fans every day.

Seems like most out of towners don’t mind City for some reason.

Yeah that probably has some bearing

Arsenal fans hate that prick.

I can attest to that. I truly wish that scumbag supported another club. However, when have a really large supporter base, there will certainly be some idiots and people you don't like.

The time wasting has been pretty ridiculous.
Rubbish the second a bournemouth keeper or player got the ball you lot started whistling as if he was wasting time which in normal circumstances if you were 2 up youse wouldn't have blinked. The added minute out of 6 was ridiculous.

They will lose to City at the Etihad, the only thing is City won’t then surround that with unbeaten runs like they have in previous years.

True but I also feel there’s something about Arsenal getting that coveted premier league title before us that annoys me.

I reckon most are numb to City winning it by now, I certainly am. Would likely be different if I mixed among them every day.

Once you are not from Manchester, the likelihood is you have been far more exposed to the late 90s/early 00s rivalry. Having lived in London for six years, eaxh of those I have been to Highbury/Emirates or settled for the dangers of watching at a nearby pub. I crawled out of a pub with pints flying over my head after Henry's last minute winner.

I was numb to them too as they had gone to shit. Even found it endearing and was rooting for them (if not us, obviously) earlier this season. But I'm sure if I were still in London and they were scoring these last minute goals I would start getting a bit miffed right about now.

Sounds like you need to take a break from reading and posting in this thread. I can't imagine being physically affected by another team winning a sports title. This thread is filled with posts of yours saying the exact same thing. It's getting old at this point.

What do you mean "before"? Since Arsenal last won the PL, United have won 5 PL titles and a Champions League.

Yes but generally speaking it's been a while both clubs have been passing the baton to each other as banter FC. We joined the party around 2013 but we've been in the same group more or less at least in my friends group of mainly United and Arsenal fans that's how it's seen. Now Arsenal will be part of the top clubs again before us (though we're not far behind).

Also, we're really good this season and I feel we can clinch it if only they lost a few games but they keep on winning which is very frustrating

There was a bournemouth player on the floor literally in the first minute of stoppage time. The added minute was more than fair. They had multiple times when a player was about to kick the ball on a free kick or a throw in and they left it for someone else, it was ridiculous. The extra time should've been 8 or 9 minutes.

I would be curious to know the actual playing time during the regular 90 on today's game. Neto was taking 30-40 secs for most of the kicks and he had a ton of kicks due to all the misfiring. There was a player down in extra time...the extra minute is normal.

Yes, maybe there is a geographical element here. If you live in or near London as I do, the relentless wankery of the Arse and their fans is truly hard to take. So I can relate, readily.

Neville made a good point on the Overlap when he mentioned being Arsenal being too emotional. They have every right to celebrate and I’m not hating them because of that, but it’s as if they won the league with each result.

You’d think these energy sapping wins won’t continue, especially when their midweek games resume. But they’ve been great so far.

Last minute winners are excellent no matter what the situation but let’s not forget City absolutely strolled passed the same opposition away not long ago, and beat a tough opponent in Newcastle today with little drama.

City seem more comfortable, more regimented in their results and I’m still favouring them to win the league.
I think every club is entitled to celebrate, but some would argue as to there's a level that goes too far in the face of your opponent, unless you're lifting a major honour obviously.

Even at that, United were called out by rival fans for celebrating a mickey-mouse trophy, and I actually think the Arsenal celebrations today were more overboard than that.

I don't think I'd mind Arsenal winning the title as much if it wasn't for Arteta. OTT celebrations, whinging, kicking balls away, throwing the ball from opposition, never in his technical area, his cnut face - he's the most detestable and disrespectful manager in the PL by a long margin.

Having said that, I don't want City winning the 3 in a row as we did, and I don't think this is an Arsenal team that is primed to go on and dominate for a few seasons. This feels like just one of those seasons for them that is just written in the stars... 90+7 winner today, Jorginho with a the goal vs Villa last weekend, virtually no injuries all season... sometimes, lady luck is on your side.

It seems that way, yeah. I noticed on the final Arsenal goal that the Bournemouth defenders closed down the shooter, but actually stood in the wrong place, as if they didn’t remember quite where the goal was. The Arse moves in mysterious ways, indeed.

There was a table recently - I think it was prior to the Carabao Cup final with the chatter about Newcastle, and no surprise Newcastle were at the bottom of the list with the ball in play for effectively 53 minutes or something, and the highest was near 60 minutes or so.

The spread isn't overly high, or at least lower than I thought it would be. To be honest, I don't think it moves the dial much in terms of results. I feel like more often against big teams it gets them riled up and the fans get going and the refs add on more than necessary with the pressure.

Anyway, I can't find the graphic from the Carabao Cup final, but Sky did show a table, so I guess worth having a search for and see if you have better luck than me.

Better for city to win. They will have an asterisk next to their titles when the court case is over and done with.

I couldn't wake up for the Bournemouth game and just watched the match. Amazing comeback! Thought my heart couldn't take much more after the Villa game, but man that was just as exciting. So happy to see Nelson score the winner!

Why get stressed you have it in bag due to dumb Bournemouth and their time wasting

Why do you care when still won the game,we are the ones who should be annoyed when not getting enough against Leeds

I have forgotten what it's like to be in a title race, my heart can't take it. I'm no spring chicken anymore
We've shown some steel lately to dig deep and get out of losing situations. Hope Trossard is ok because our squad looking a bit thin again. Vieira was ok and had some nice moments but still looks a bit lightweight. Think he got better as the game went on though.

Watch MTD replay Zinchenko cross Ben White is offside so should have been no corner kick, no goal, free kick to Bournemouth. Poor decision. If that was United we would be hearing about for 2 weeks. So when United play Newcastle do we get 120 minutes each half then?

But they get no VAR decisions apparently

clasping at straws. White was unmarked but I agree, in an offside position. If he touched the ball, sure call it offside. But he was not interacting or distracting anyone.

We'll rotate quite a lot, but don't think we'll bin it off.

Turner
Tomiyasu - Holding - Kiwior - Tierney
Jorginho
Vieira - ESR
Trossard - Nketiah - Nelson

Would be our backup XI, which isn't too bad. Although I expect some starters to play in that mix.
Think Trossard is out for that one. We’ve got a few missing . I’d prefer throwing the kids in than playing the likes of Saka.

what an atmosphere today at the end, still buzzing .
