Television Arrested Development

Yeah, I thought the GOB episodes (especially the first one) were the best.

Finished all 15. I was worried I might be disappointed after such a long hiatus, but they delivered.

I was bloody confused for the first few episodes but it really came together so well. Loved it and I'm gutted I have another long wait for the next lot!

My bees are dropping like flies, and I need them to fly like bees.

Only got a couple of episodes left now and, I'm happy to say, it's all coming together gloriously. There were so many times early on I kept thinking "this doesn't make much sense" and questioned the character's motive, but you find out the reason for it later.

Can't believe how badly critics have panned S4. WTF exactly are they comparing it to beside AD itself? I personally think it's the best thing in years.

Same !

I finished the last two episodes late last night, and absolutely loved it.

The whole thing builds so nicely throughout the "season" and is very skilfully woven together. Too many things to mention, and a re-watch is definitely in order, but I think the whole thing is a real triumph for everyone involved.

Now I hope they get the film going ASAP.

5 episodes in and it's picking up.

All that meta Ron Howard stuff's been really weak, though. And Lindsay's face continues to freak me out.

....and that way you'll have it

They brought back all the funny jokes from the old series as well. I thought it was quality I imagine if you watch it again the early episodes are less confusing. The story came together well sets up for a movie now.

Alright looks I will be going against the grain here a bit. I don't think it was near the standard of the earlier three seasons. There were some mistakes, most forced due to the format. I do agree that it took about 5-7 episodes for it to properly get going and there is a reason behind that.

Some of the characters are just not strong enough to have a whole episode revolving around them. George Snr's and Lindsay's episodes were both a drag and I had to force myself to watch all 4. Only the second Lindsay episode was probably ok. These 4 episodes were part of first 6 or 7 I think, which definitely pulled the early part of the season down.

Tobais' episodes had it its moments and they were definitely very watchable. But I don;t think they were great. I think they should have clubbed his and Lindsay episodes.

Having said that I think last 5-6 episodes were great. I was dreading the Maeby episode but it was possibly the best of the whole lot. Buster, another character I thought could not carry a whole episode, was brilliant in his episode.

Though I do think they should have finished on a more conclusive note. There is no inclination as to if the movie will happen here. I don't want another 5 years or so for this story to conclude.

I'm looking forward to seeing it again, tie up things definitely missed the first time round. Think im on episode 12 now, been taking it slowly as dont want it to end

I still can't work out if Maeby Is strangely hot or not

..which is probably why they didn't name her Definitely.

 Neither can I i'm really not sure she has a nice rack though.

Good to read that Netflix are happy with the results of the season. I wouldn't be that surprised if they look at another season after the film (assuming that happens) but I doubt they'd get everyone together for another run - especially if they would plan to have them filming altogether. I guess that would depend on the budget Netflix would give them - though looking at the scale and supporting cast of this season then maybe Netflix are generous with their support.

It was
TONY!

Wow. I did suspect it during GOB's episode; you could just see where it was going, but it's still brilliant when he shows up.

Also, when the camera was panning away from Rebel, I was desperately hoping it'd be Sally Sitwell (anyone?). Pretty gutted when it was George Michael. He seems to have turned into a right arsehole.

Speaking of who, why has his face changed so much? Portia de Rossi's face changed less with silicone injected into it. He went from being a fairly chubby faced teen to this pointy faced monster.

Loving the way the episodes interlink; it really is brilliant. Probably the best episode yet.

It's so obscure it's practically an inside joke. Yet it makes you want to watch every episode again, scene by scene, on your own, with your hand hovering over the pause button just in case you've missed some bonkers reference you'll then have to google because you wouldn't get it anyway.

As for my opinion of S4, I was horrified by the first episode, and worrisome for the first 4 or so, but retrospectively delighted by the end. It was, in hindsight, a wonderfully bold way of writing and presenting a comedy. Even though there were a few weak eps, it was worth it alone for Gob's plot line and the Catch a Predator sequence in episode 5, every line of which after he walks into the house is absolute AD Tobias gold.

And as it is such, so also as such is it unto you.

"Oh, I thought you were hair"

And it's finished. Did anyone else feel it was left a little in the air, as if they were leaving things for a film? Or have I just missed things that I'd see a second time around?

Overall, and excellent series, did not disappoint.

Of course. They've said before that they wrote it with the movie in mind. There was hardly any sense of conclusion.

Can't wait to watch the new season...been re-watching the old ones, some which I hadn't seen since 2006! What an utterly brilliant show.

It continues to impress me. Anyone who hasn't watched/isn't watching them back, I'd advise you to do so. Because of the order, you'll see so many more jokes. Jokes that didn't even seem like jokes.

Par example, in the first episode, GM talks about changing his name. When asked why, he says "You do a something search...", which would later become a running joke. Fantastic. Don't know how the writers got their head around this series.

Then on about their privacy software:

"GM was talking his block software..."

Excellent foreshadowing, as ever.

I watched it back through again. The first episode was still a bit crap, though the fourth (second Michael) was much better with foreknowledge.

It's interesting how many critics have been quick to criticise the new structure, while the general public opinion has been largely embracing. At it's best it's still as good as ever.

The Tobias and GOB episodes are very much classic Arrested Development. Still only halfway through the series so far but I am enjoying it.
