Are you happy for David Moyes?

I'm really not bothered - not from a 'former United' point of view.

He had one season here. Was unsuccessful. And left. He really isn't someone I follow from a 'he's one of us, I wish him well' attitude.

And his playing style is ugly, so, from a neutral viewpoint, I don't enjoy watching his teams or particularly care how they do. If they were finishing above Liverpool or City or something, then I'd be pleased that West Ham, or anyone, had done so - but I wouldn't care that it was Moyes in charge of them.

Don't like David Moyes he's a spineless Twat.

Don't like West Ham they're a horrible club with cnut fans.

So no.

Also a United fan talking about taking West Ham as a 2nd team? fecking West Ham? They're in the same league and as mentioned before horrible cnut of a football club.

I’m not bothered either way. I’d like to be happy for him but his constant refusal to take any responsibility regarding his time at United makes that impossible.

This is it for me too

I am, not because he's our ex-manager (it was so long ago and only lasted for 8 months or so) but because he is a good manager, not top manager but good enough to be where he is in the table with West Ham now and where he was for years with Everton. Speaking of Everton, I wouldn't be surprised to see them approaching Moyes in few years time, excluding that 2013/14 Martinez season they have been worse ever since he left them and meanwhile spent lots of money.

Yes I'm honestly quite happy for him.

He was a good coach but just not good enough for a job like Manchester United. He's now at his right level and of course he'll be doing very well in it.

I’m happy for the club’s supporters, but not for Moyes himself. He should never have accepted the job at Old Trafford. The moment he did accept the job it was one clusterfeck after another, bringing ridicule to the club.

Would you never accept a dream job even if above your pay grade when the greatest person who did that job tells you he believes you are the right person for it? That is a bit extreme I think.

He should have never been offered it and that is where the fault lies, not in him accepting it.

I want him removed from my memory, don't wish any ill on him or any success. Fergie was the huge plaster hiding the mess off the Glazers, Moyes pulled the plaster completely off and exposed the bozos running the show. His actual face reminds me off the horror of that season, let's not speak of him again.

He never took any responsibility. He sacked the coaching staff when SAF advised him to keep them. Our current situation is because he started the rot at United.

Any manager offered such job would accept it even if he wasn't good enough for it. It's no bariner really.

From the start we shouldn't have even moved for him, but ultimately it seems like we didn't prepare well for SAF's retirement and started moving for a new manager pretty late.

To be fair SAF didn't tell the club he was retiring until late February or early March so the club really had no choice but to move for someone late. Ferguson obviously had Moyes in mind as his successor as he advised him at the start of that year not to renew his Everton contract so it would make it 'easier' as he put it for United get him.

And even if the club had known slightly earlier Guardiola, Ancelotti and Mourinho had probably all already agreed their next moves I would suspect in late 2012. Just horrible timing all round, Ferguson was on a rolling 1 year contract the club should have had him agree to tell them right away if he ever decided he was going to retire to give them as much time as possible to sound out a replacement. Why he waited 3 months to inform the club of his decision is anyone's guess.

This is on Fergie, but at the same time, I really don't know if the decision became late because he wasn't actually planning to retire and the decision just came suddenly through the season or not. Maybe he wasn't planning it, and then midway he decided it's better to retire now. We don't know.

In an ideal world he should have taken the decision before his last season and informed the club so that the board spent the rest of the season searching for a new manager. Ultimately it seems like the decision was suddenly and the club had to move pretty late. It wasn't prepared well by anyone.

We do know it was in his book. It was as you suggest he decided around Christmas 2012 after his wife's sister died that he was going to retire. That was fine and totally understandable he'd earned the right to retire whenever he wanted to, but informing the club a few months earlier could have helped the club appoint a better manager than Moyes.

Unless of course Ferguson wanted Moyes to succeed him from the beginning then waiting as long as possible to let the club know they'll need a new manager makes sense. Less time to sound out a top manager as most will be tied up or already committed to new clubs for the upcoming season while Moyes was out of contract (as advised by Ferguson months before).

Oh thanks. I forgot about the book.

I don't think he wanted Moyes from the start. From my interpretation I think he wanted Pep the most imo, but it was too later.

I have no Ill will agaisn't him, he took a job that was too big for him and it affected him for many years. Glad he's found a place where he can implement his ideas and it seems to be working well for him.

I don't care massively. He was out of his depth here and he was his own worst enemy with some of his decisions.
I'll continue to laugh when he stumbles, but I certainly don't begrudge him any success.

He was shit for us and refused to take any responsibility.

Don’t dislike him but couldn’t care less for his success.
You can’t blame just Moyes. The whole club was turned upside down at the time. Granted some of his doing but many mistakes were made by people still here I might add... One of them is going at the end of the season though luckily.

Moyes is a good man and a good manager. Wish him all the best. Done a cracking job this season and if Pep wasn’t a genius he would rightfully get manager of the year.

Feel like this.

I am very happy for lingard though.

I'm pretty happy for him, yeah.

It's not his fault we grossly overestimated his abilities, what was he going to do - say no to managing Manchester United and decline millions of dollars in income?

I’m indifferent nowadays, but a few years ago I would have wished nothing but failures for him. It wasn’t his fault taking the the offer to manage us, but his ineptitude nearly singlehandedly dismantled our winning aura and left the squad in a terrible place after a mere 10 months in charge.

So, no.

Happy - why? Did he get a win against top 4 side?

I didn't ever have a problem with Moyes. He wasn't good enough and that was it. But then he kept talking about not getting enough time, and the longer he kept playing the victim, the more annoying he got.

Still, he's doing a decent job now, which means he hasn't mentioned it for a while.

Have a soft spot for him. I think fans are overly harsh and a bit unrealistic if they expected him to do well trying to replace sir Alex. Happy for him. Don’t think he’s a bad manager or man at all.

Yeah I think Guradiola probably would have been his ideal choice but when they met in NY he didn't yet know he was retiring by the time he did Pep had already agreed to take over Bayern.

Happy for him? I guess, no more so than other managers who have performed above the level they were expected to this season. That said I felt at the time and still feel now that he got a rough deal only getting 1 season at United and not getting the players in he wanted. I think any manager who came in and their big signing was Fellaini would have struggled

One note I will make though is everyone was looking forward to the attacking Leeds side this season and they did well scoring 62 goals which is more than Chelsea and Arsenal. West Ham also scored 62 goals. So plenty of attacking play and goals for them too, not least with Soucek starting in central midfield and getting into the box to be joint top scorer with 10 premier league goals. In many ways he's a better Fellaini who can actually play the holding role as well as getting forward and being dominant in the air
