Are PSG a failed project?

Little Luis: I don't deserve this... to go out like this. I was building a team without superstars.

I'm adamant it's not a failure. PSG's claim to fame before they took over was 2 league titles (80's and early 90's) and the fact Ronaldinho had a spell there. They've completely dominated French football and have become one of the top teams in the Champions League it's madness to say otherwise.

Yeah this is totally fair I think - 2 titles in 40 years as you say vs what will likely be 11 out of 14 this season is a huge turnaround.

The CL is obviously the one people look at considering they had a forward line of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe at one point but a lot of the opinion around this really discounts just how hard it is to win I think - Real have won 50% of them since PSG have been back in it and the others (Bayern, Barca, Liverpool, Chelsea, City) are all elite sides as well. They obviously made a final and have consistently been in the latter stages.

I still think they have a chance this season as well, I said after the draw that the winner of Liverpool/PSG might be my favourite to win (outside of the fact Real just seem to have this competition on lock) and 100% they are still in it, Liverpool have to be favourites now taking a lead back to Anfield but it's not inconceivable given the way PSG played as a whole that they could largely dominate again and be more clinical this time in the return leg.

When you consider that the only player who took the field for them yesterday over 28 was Marquinhos as well, they should have the core of this current squad together for a while yet. If they can continue to develop this system under Enrique and make 1 or 2 additions to the squad, they will be amongst the 4 or 5 times I'd peg as favourites for each of the next few seasons.

Are PSG a failed project?

The fact such a question can seriously be asked says what we need to know.

They failed to emulate Real's 'Galactico' era and now fancy themselves as a red bull knock-off.

Still European bottlers.

The nike michael jordan motif they constantly display on their jerseys is another bizarre attachment.

With actual red bull showing up in Paris, it could be high time for France's genuine clubs to come together and form their own league.

Unlike Nice! The success story of France!!

Enrique has done a marvelous job at PSG. Such a likeable team now with no big egos just players playing for the team and wanting team success over individual glory.
This season CL is done. Next season they'll go far.

Can't see them winning at Anfield and especially not by 2 goals. Didn't watch the game but looking at stats it seems like they completely dominated and on another day could've won with 2 or 3. Shame..

They have signed basically all the young talent in the world. That midfield is ridiculous.

Dominated yesterday. Got conned by the ref also when Liverpool should have had a clear red

Probably the most dangerous team in the world right now, they might even get a result in Anfield if there is no superkeeper that day

. On the basis of the game they blew Liverpool apart, it was a phenomenal performance from Alison that was the difference, it's not a factor that typically be in consideration throughout most games in a season. Like what Enrique is doing I personally consider him an elite coach, I know Spain won the Euro's after his departure but they did play good football just amassed poor results under his tenure.

He would have have been a good appointment for United, something where there's actually a criteria to build a longer term project on as his football is decisive.

He'd have been written off when he couldn't get Hojlund to score 25 league goals after a month in the job.

They have radically changed their approach, in a much more sensible way, and there's undeniable promise. They have a talented team playing for each other and Luis Enrique has done a fantastic job so far. If they keep at it, PSG will win the UCL in the coming seasons.

Liverpool were completely outclassed and got away with murder. Also, there's still a second leg to play.

It's a stylised Eiffel Tower that's been present in their badge since 1972, barring a couple of seasons in the 90's. You really chose the wrong tree to bark up.

psg are the master of 'promising' though usually bottle it in Europe. The second leg promises more of this. As ever.

The Michael Jordan crap alludes to a greatness psg have not earned. It says a lot about him he's okay having his image emblazoned upon such a political club.

Their 'new' is approach, which is backed by Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, consists of still failing in Europe with their 'big boy' chops a mirage.

Might win L1 again, though.

Did you fecking read a single word of what I wrote or are you just ranting for the hell of it?

Can people stop calling Luis Enrique by the second part of his name? This drives me crazy

Luis Enrique is his given first name

Big Lui dawg is a good manager but I don't think he will lead PSG to UCL glory. They're still a soft touch

8 changes from the Liverpool game for today's game vs Rennes, while Liverpool only make 3 changes for their game vs Southampton.

I read all of what you wrote.

We are allowed to dispute your take, you know?
No, you are not.

PSG have had that logo for more than 50 years, pretty much since the club was created. This weird Air Jordan analogy is factually wrong and only exists in your head. It also tells volume about your football knowledge, as well as your reading comprehension skills. The rest of your reply was just a rehash of your previous rant, with no consideration to what I wrote.

It isn't all 'ranting' when someone dares to contradict you.

Can't keep up with your own posts...

Jesus Christ, on ignore you go, mate.

Such an incredibly fun team to watch. I wonder how long Luis Enrique will stay there and what it would take to tempt him

They're even more like the Harlem globe trotters than Barcelona and Real though.

They have 600m revenue whilst Rennes revenue is 20 ish...

Even us and Utd would look good playing league 1 opposition nearly every week...

They have a great foundation of young players and play like a team now.

It will be always hard to win the Champions League but they will be challenging for the years to come.

This argument would make sense if they hadn’t just outclassed in every way possible (but finishing) the team dominating the EPL.

I said nothing about United. Was speaking in general.

But sure, United is still a huge club and the prospect of being the one to revive it might be enticing to some.
I am afraid that’s less and less true mate.
We are a graveyard for players and managers and that’s more and more visible.
If we don’t offer the mega money package we used to, I don’t see why players and managers will come here.
But even Ancelotti went to Everton. So there is hope.
I would like Enrique here by the way. Looks like he is a top coach.

We are spending less money on transfers and wages but we doesn’t seem to have an eye for top talent still.
Dorgu is very average in my opinion. He has physicality and pace but seems to blindly cross everytime.

I'm not arguing sliding scales levels of how much/how true it is.

United is still a big club - that's a fact. And has a big club it will have its appeals regardless if they're diminishing.

Every thing else is just woe is me type babble. Yes, we're currently shit, we're not what we once were - everybody knows that.

Fair play, they got way better after getting rid of Mbappe

Nah, what they got wrong, it's not having proper Coaches to deal with big names. Also they were very close before, even way closer than current situation
