Aquilani to Liverpool

He wants far too much time on the ball and when playing that position in this country where so many teams have their midfield directly infront of the back 4 to close down any space I just can't see him succeeding there.

I dont think he wants too much time on the ball, i think he just wants the ball. Liverpool midfielders by pass that area too often. He is actually a very good one or two touch player, it is the italian way.

really, every time I watched Aquaman he releases the ball like a hot patato, not more than 1 or two touches, he never really took control of proceedings.

The only time i've seen him release the ball quickly is when he's facing the direction he's passing in. For instance, if the ball is played backwards to him he can release it quickly going forward. If it is played into him from the back he releases it quicky going back the same way. However if he ever needs to turn he dallys on the ball. As though he hasn't built up a picture of what's around him.

he looked like he wanted to pass and move, then he'd never get the return when he moved hence not being able to influence the game as the fans or management would like. But that is down to the way Liverpool play or did play, i thought with new management he'd be given the chance to show his worth because he does have great ability and is a talented player.

He's not being sold, he's being loaned where hopefully he can prove his fitness because as you can imagine, his value is decreasing all the time because of the injuries. If he goes back to Serie A and has a good year, he could either come back to us for a second chance or we could recoup a fair chunk of money on him.

He can just as easily prove his fitness at Liverpool. Who gives a crap about his value, if he can establish himself as a first choice at your club? Unless at this point, you need the money from his sale even if that means weakening the team.

What if he doesn't have a good year in Italy? Then you give away a 20 million player a whole season for nothing and his value will go down even further. Loan moves like this baffle me at times.

Not mine, nicked from RAWK.

If Aquilani leaves on loan, personally I think he's essentially gone next season. Can't even start in a Europa League match against some Romanian side...
that was because he could be going out on loan .. or so woy says

sign only last season and now want to loan him out? seem wierd.

Dunno what's worse, Aquilani out on loan or selling Robbie Keane after 3 months for 6million less than what they bought him for.

Liverpool shouldn't be considering loaning him out at all. He should prove a valuable squad player this year.

Exactly what I thought. There's no point of sending him out now when this is the time he should be integrated into their team. They have a new manager, new system and new players and they will all need time to gel as an attacking force. The likes of Torres, Gerrard, J.Cole, Aquilani, etc could form a decent group this year. Aquilani is a good player but this league hasnt seen the best from him yet.

Loaning him out is surely no real loss? I mean they managed to play almost the entire of last season without him.

When you pay that kind of money you look for gain not for loss. Played well against Chelsea in the hole and scored. Something tells me he'd be better there than Cole. And he's not worked anywhere else. While Gerrard and Cole have worked in other positions very well.

If he scored against Chelsea the title result may have been very different.

Unfortunately he did not and they won two nil.

Aquilani (for 20m Euros) and probably Christian 'I'm utter shite' Poulsen as replacement for Xabi Alonso... if Liverpool indeed sign both I won't stop laughing for a good while
What a waste of money especially Poulsen would be, I doubt even Benitez can be this insane and indeed choose to sign Poulsen.
Poulsen

So he is going to the graveyard in Turin.... Good luck with that.
Delneri surely can't do any worse than Zaccheroni!

I suspect he'll have a similar role as Candreva last season, except instead of being rotated in and out he'll just get injured and fit again. Delneri plays 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 though, and they have Sissoko, Marchisio, Felipe Melo, Diego and now Krasić who can also play in the hole, so there's still quite a bit of competition there.
