Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Ye, watch Californication. Good stuff but like Cina says it deteriorates.

Still good for 3/4 seasons though and a piss easy watch

So I've just finished box set of The Wire, now that's all of the 'big three' I've seen. Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire. Now I don't know what to do with myself, is there anything Legendary that I must see?

Oz, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire

It's a pretty good show like. Definitely worth watching. It just deteriorates massively in later seasons.
Yea, it should have probably ended three seasons earlier than it actually did. I think it was the season 4 finale that made me think that the show should have ended right there (not because it was a bad finale, the ending of that finale was perfect for this show).

Still though, it remained an entertaining show throughout its run and it's an easy show to watch as the episodes are short and the pacing is never an issue.

Yea, I finished it too, it was very good. Nothing too original or creative but just a really solid spy thriller. I was also surprised by the budget of it, there is some really impressive visual stuff in the last couple episodes.
Yeah. 20m (Not sure if pounds or dollars) was the budget for the series from BBC. It was nothing too original and had a couple of loopholes, but I think the penultimate episode was probably the best. Overall, a very good watch. Loved the performances.

How have you guys finished The Night Manager? I'm sure I just watched the latest episode on iPlayer, which was the penultimate one
Both Episode 5 and Episode 6 were leaked online before the 5th episode was publicly available.

You're in for a treat with season 3, by far the show's best season. Unfortunately, this upcoming season 4 will be the show's final season.
Wow,hopefully i would start watching season 3 tomorrow with lot of time left for next three days.

Can anyone recommend any good comedies? I seem to have watched almost everything on offer on the internet :(

So, obvious ones are probably seen...?

How about NewsRadio, I recommend that every now and then here it seems, it's a great 90s ensemble cast show, and don't think it's that popular.

With late great Phil Hartman at the top of his game.

Peep Show, It's always sunny in Philadelphia, Parks and Rec, Office (both versions), Archer, Rick and Morty, Eastbound and Down

Just found Black-ish so trying it out now.

I'll give these a go over the weekend, thanks.

Seen all of these.

Black-ish is cool most of the time. Another currently running series I like is The Grinder.

From older...seen Garth Marenghi's Darkplace?

Assuming you have watched the obvious one's, why not try Veep, You're the worst, The Blackadder series (You've probably already watched it I guess), Silicon Valley, Catastrophe. The grinder (ok, not so much) and Blackish (especially season 2) are decent as well. Then there is Unbreakable Kimmy somethin somethin', Brooklyn Nine Nine, Galavant (musical, but very funny and very meta).

I am currently watching reruns of Scrubs. Just loving that all over again.

Already finished all of these, except Veep and Galavant.

So I'm in the middle of Sopranos season 5 and I must say, it's a great show but I still hold The Wire as the best show I've ever watched. Sopranos for me is suffering from too much filler. The mob-related scenes are highly entertaining to watch, the overall acting performances are solid and there's plenty of characters to pay attention to but I'm getting a bit tired now from the psychiatrist/Junior Soprano personal drama/Tony's goomar scenes and now they've introduced Tony's father's mistress Fran Felstein or something and the scenes with her are just filler to me too. This is where The Wire just blows everything else out of the water. Very dedicated to its cases with little to none filler surrounding it.

Fair. It's personal preference. The exact same post could argue why Sopranos is better than Wire.

Is Fringe worth watching?
It's actually pretty entertaining if you like this kind of stuff - but, like the most other shows only the first two or three seasons are worth watching, last seasons were dire

But at least it actually got to a proper conclusion, rather than being left hanging.

Line of Duty continues to be outstanding. The Beeb are nailing it, but why are they throwing all their big hitters out so soon in the year? Happy Valley, Night Manager and this all in Spring?

Old school comedies not to be missed;
Green Wing (blows Scrubs out of the water)
The Smoking Room (on YouTube )
Drop the Dead Donkey (was topical but still stands tall)
I caught the pilot of the Green wing (Admittedly, with the initial intention of labeling it as nonsense and saying it has nothing on Scrubs), and it's good. Some flat moments, but most of the lines were very funny and witty. I like the whole "Speed up/Slow down" mode of storytelling, though I think they overuse it more than needed. Some very weird characters, makes it fun. Also the fact that the woman from The Coupling being there is a huge plus. I din't like the woman with the short hair though.

But that said, I still don't think it has much on Scrubs. Of course, both are very different sitcoms with the only commonality being the Hospital setting. But I consider Scrubs to be one of the most under appreciated Sitcoms on TV. It makes you go on a laughing riot for 19 mins before making you shed a tear for the final two. No other show (Maybe except MASH) does that with unbelievable consistency. It has had more "Best moment of TV history" than many of the front-runners (Although most of those best moments are actually tear jerkers). It has actual Character Development (An absolute rarity for a sitcom), brilliant creative direction, one of the first shows to become self-referential and cross-referential, Actual empathy for the characters (Even AD and Seinfeld can't match that) and the best soundtracks ever seen for a sitcom and one of the best for TV in general. And it managed to do all of that for 7 out of the 8 seasons (Ignoring Season 9). Not to mention absolute gem performances by some of the actors. You add all that up and you realize it is a far better show than people give it credit for.

Each to their own I suppose.
I used to watch Scrubs and it made me smile and raise a giggle at times, whereas Green Wing had me doubled up at times. There is no intention for it being anything other zany comedy.
If you are going to compare character development, at least watch more than one show. I doubt it will satisfy much in that way, but you will grow to love the characters.

Yeah, I mean the whole point of watching a sitcom for me is to have a "comfort zone", something I can go back to watch over and over again. I mean I agree there are funnier shows than Scrubs, but I would probably struggle to go back and repeatedly watch those shows or remember the Dialogues (Except maybe AD, which is just effin brilliant). That's why I probably love Scrubs so much, coz it never fails to deliver on that front. Things like character development obviously don't matter in a sitcom, I just brought it up because it is probably one of those shows, where it is very noticeable.

And yeah, obviously I am going to watch more than one episode of Green Wing (As long that Coupling lady is there). I love Zany comedy.

Is Fear the Walking Dead worth a look? The reviews seem to be a bit meh (but the reviews for Jessica Jones were consistently amazing and that was dreadful, so I tend to take what the critics say with a pinch of salt).

Nah not really, it starts off sort of mildly promising, then turns to shite
