Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

First half hour of the pilot was a bit though. I didn't see too much of homeland, but I thought the first season included spy stuff. Hence the reference. I wouldn'
t actually call it dull, more that Tom Hiddlestone occupies a lot of screen space alone and he's not really all that convincing. When Laurie steps in, definitely takes a jump in quality. Saw the second episode too and liked it more than the first. Though they have some weird timeline jumps here and there which I guess will be filled. But I look forward to seeing episode 3. Way too soon to judge atm. IMDB ratings are overrated though as usual.
Yea, maybe the first half hour was a little slow with the setup in Egypt but once it does the time jump, things pick up. I think Tom Hiddleston is fine, the role so far doesn't allow him to do much but he is doing a decent job. Hugh Laurie is doing a really good job though, reveling in his role. Episode 3 is good too, although some of the writing is too convenient.

Finally saw the pilot of The Night Manager (Huge Hugh Laurie fan). I am guessing the way the pilot went, it's trying to liken itself as the British version of Homeland ? The early scenes probably would require a few repeated viewings (Since I couldn't quite make out what one of the characters was saying) or subtitles. It didn't really start all that well. In fact it took me 3 days to complete it (I paused it so many times and felt it was a little too lacklustre). But every time Laurie makes an appearance (God, he has aged!), it just peaks up. He has got an enigmatic presence and instantly convinces you to pay more attention (maybe a little bit of my bias creeping through, but he really dominates every scene. Not sure if that speaks volumes of his calibre or the poor supporting cast) and even elevates the performances of Tom Hiddlestone. The end of the pilot does seem to give an indication of what exactly the show is about. So I wouldn't mind watching it a few more episodes. More Laurie to look forward to.
IMDB has given it a rating of 8.7/10. For the pilot alone, I'd give it a 7. Look forward to seeing the next episode.

It's a BBC show, so big value productions, with shooting in remote locations. Cinematography is very average surprisingly.

Shouldn't be comparing John le Carré's work alongside Homeland.

Yeah. Love Laurie. What a fine actor he is. Look forward to episode 3.

Sorry, I only caught a fleeting glimpse of Homeland of Season 1, so just wanted to give a decent reference point.

So I've just finished box set of The Wire, now that's all of the 'big three' I've seen. Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire. Now I don't know what to do with myself, is there anything Legendary that I must see?

Mad Men probably

The big three is the sopranos, the wire and deadwood. Golden age.

Six Feet Under, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, West Wing(starting to date very mildly, as it once in the big three in place of Deadwood), Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights, 90's ER and The Shield all next up.

I 've seen recently :
-Limitless ,I liked it,
about a guy who takes a pill to be very clever, based in a movie. It's pretty fun although they could have done more with the story
-I finished the first season of Black Sails . Not bad but I'm not crazy to see the second season
They could have done more with the story , too much bureaucracy on the ground.
-8 Sense is very good, as in Lost or Heroes it is easy to get affection for the characters.
-The fourth season of Vikings , one of my favorite series has started quite well
-I would recommend Billions too
-The third season of The100 has started ,it used to be one of my favorites but I am not enjoying this season so much.
-I liked a lot the first season of the knick but got tired with the second season

The Americans.
The Last Kingdom.

Both are a little under the radar, but both are pretty great.

Love on Netflix
Red Oaks on amazon prime

Both excellent

I've seen the first 2 episodes of The Night Manager.

I though the first one was brilliant, but didn't like the second one too much. I'm not buying into Tom Hiddlestone being a badass for now. Laurie has been great, and Jade (?):drool:

Trapped is very good, set in Iceland, murder mystery, great scenery/cinematography.
Final episode aired on BBC 4 last night, well worth a watch.

I've watched the first three episodes and really enjoyed it bar some quibbles with the second episode (primarily the stuff in Devon, which was uninteresting and nonsensical). Everything in Egypt and Spain has been terrific. All three of Hiddleston, Laurie and Hollander have nailed it.

From the ones that came slightly under the radar so far - Baskets and Horace and Pete (Louie C.K. + Steve Buscemi) are looking great
Hap and Leonard are a bit boring

I just completed the series last night and I can tell you it is brilliant. I had my doubts on Hiddleston initially, but once he was comfortable with the role, he genuinely impressed me. Laurie is the star though, he pretty much carries a majority of the show forward on his own. Debicki is also lovely and the finale was great. Comes together very well in the end. There are the odd niggles here and there, but overall I loved it.

Yea, I finished it too, it was very good. Nothing too original or creative but just a really solid spy thriller. I was also surprised by the budget of it, there is some really impressive visual stuff in the last couple episodes.

How have you guys finished The Night Manager? I'm sure I just watched the latest episode on iPlayer, which was the penultimate one

It's a pretty good show like. Definitely worth watching. It just deteriorates massively in later seasons.
Sky are spamming adverts for it massively at the moment which is what made me ask. Might give it a shot.
