Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Ok so Season 3 of The Wire was good but now quarter way through 4 and its rank. Can't see how people think this is the greatest show ever made...
So watched 6 episodes now of season 4 and I'm struggling to keep watching. The storyline is crap, there's nothing noteworthy happening and it feels more like a monotone Eastenders rather then the best show ever created. The main characters are gone and the ones on now are failing to make an impact. I've seen on Wiki that this season is the highest ever rated with 98/100 but I think its the worst thus far. I don't know, maybe there's no shock factor for me and that is why it feels this way.

Wow.

Scorpion is one of the most ridiculous drama series I have ever seen. You have to admire creators ability to cram so many nonsense in every episode.

Heartily recommended to fans of Dads and Transformators.

Saw a trailer for Ballers today, had a bit of an Entourage feel to it plus Dwayne Johnson which makes anything amazing.

Anyone watched? Any good?

Just watched the leaked pilots of Blindspot, Lucifer & Minority Report. The first two I enjoyed and will watch the series when they appear, Minority Report didn't grab me at all, especially the female lead.

Yeah, it's like a 'sports Entourage' same as Silicon Valley is the 'nerd Entourage'.

The Brink is the pick of the litter, though.

The first few episodes aren't great but the quality picked up mid-season, episodes feel really short though so its perfect for some bitesized TV.

Ballers would be terrible without Dwayne Johnson and the hot scantily clad women. However both of those appear very frequently in the show so it's quite enjoyable as a result.

Bloodline was good but not great. Ben Mendelsohn is a top, top actor though.

Can't say the ending made me particularly hopeful for a second season.

Yeah we discussed it a bit here, agree with not being too hopeful for the second season, it should've been just one. But I think the first season was excellent.

So I finished The Wire. Not the best thing since sliced bread but enjoyable overall in the end. Did not like a lot of season 1 and a lot of 4. Thought 3 and 5 were great. Sad end to Omar, I was expecting him to take out Marlo or something. Fitting though. Overall 7/10

LitterBug - the ultimate hipster. And from now on 'the only person who didn't like The Wire'.

Ever since he used the word "Wiredos" (or whatever it was) it seemed like he just wanted to be different really. That, and all the "I still don't really like it"-updates.

And only person ever to prefer season 5. You're trying too hard Litterbug, no one believes you.

I'm sorry but why would I care to lie to anyone about something so silly. Just wasn't my usual cup of tea but still gave it a go and wasn't entirely disappointed in the end like at the start.

Sure, but it's a bit pointless telling everyone how "rank" it is and how the storyline is "crap" and like a "monotone Eastenders". Just say it's not for you and move on, instead of trying to argue that the show isn't as good as everyone who's watched it think. Just looks like attention seeking.

I was replying to the people that made it the best thing since sliced bread and having a discussion about it. If we agreed we wouldn't discuss it because it would then just be a thread of +1. It's a forum after all.

I got stick for giving my honest opinion on it just because it wasn't in line with the masses. I'm no hipster, but I'm no sheep either. You can't even give your opinion on an anonymous internet forum without getting mobbed nowadays. Jeez.

I really loved The Wire, best thing since the wheel was invented. Just saying differently because I care enough to wind Wowi off the internet up.

I watched the Minority Report pilot and was distinctly underwhelmed. A lot of dosh has clearly been put into it, and the idea of a sequel featuring a well meaning renegade Pre-Cog is interesting (this is set up in the opening narattion btw, so not a spoiler) but it's let down by a script that seems hashed together from a pile of unused Stallone movies from the mid-90s and a cast rescued from the world of straight to video SyFy channel films just to off-set the bugdet. The dialogue is clunky, and the actors, particularly Meagan Goode wearing two leather jackets on top of each other, and Fez from That 70s Show in a skins workout vest, are so hammy that the whole thing seems like a camp joke everyone but the show itself is in on.

Basically, I don't recommend it.

One wonders what shows Litterbug does like.

Loads of shows but some Drama genre highlights:

Braking Bad, Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Prison Break, Dexter, Entourage, West Wing etc.

Don't think it's humanly possible to watch anything with him in it and take it seriously.

Yep, that about covers it for me, too.

Just watched episode 1 of Wayward Pines today. Definitely intriguing me, that's for sure, so hopefully it turns out good.

Problem is, I tend to enjoy a certain series, and then it gets cancelled....Alcatraz, Revolution and The returned so far, and to be fair, The Leftovers may get cancelled yet

Has anyone watched Gotham?

I've watched the first episode and it seems a bit cheesy which is disappointing because I'm a huge fan of Batman and the universe that surrounds him. Does it pick up further into the season?

I seriously can not understand how a human being can not like The Wire. Call me whatever u want, personal taste and all that stuff but The Wire is not just a TV-show, it's a journey. Watch it alone so that nobody else can distract you. Try to really follow all the subplots and understand what the characters are saying. If you can not appreciate the insane high level of writing in The Wire, then how the hell can you enjoy anything else at all? The Wire is the most realistic show I have ever watched, every scene feels so authentic with straight-to-the-point style of directing, terrific character development (all the characters have realistic human flaws) and there are no annoying cheesy romantic subplots that make up 30% of an average episode. Seriously, I have watched quite some other heavyweight shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad but The Wire is a level above those shows.

Anyone here watch Naked and Afraid on the Discovery channel? Not sure why seeing other people's pain and misery is so damn entertaining. But it is.

3 piles of wank in there. Although Dexter and Entourage had marginally acceptable seasons at some point in the beginning.

Yep love that show. The latest season has about 12 previous survivors trying to last for 40 days.

Until the most famous series begin I'm thinking of starting another , would you recommend any of these ? Sense 8 , Scorpion, Extant .

First ep of Show Me A Hero was sort of interesting. Oscar Isaac storyline was strong-ish but the families in the council housing haven't really grabbed me. It's got all the hallmarks of a David Simon show, including people sitting on couches in the street conversing.

It's silly and cheesy until the end of season. It's not terrible though.

I only saw a couple of episodes but it was ridiculously corny. I really don't like cheesy stuff like that not to mention one of the women has a voice which makes me want to headbutt a wall everytime I hear it.

Seen that advertised on Amazon, might give it a watch as well. If you like that sci-fi stuff I'm watching The 100 at the moment, really good concept - the last few hundred members of mankind are living in a giant space station orbiting Earth after it was decimated by Nuclear war, running out of supplies so they send 100 prisoners back down to see if it's habitable. All crime after age 18 is punishable by death on the space station so the prisoners are all teenagers, kind of descends into anarchy/Lord of the Flies with some interesting surprises to be found on Earth after 100 years of radiation. If that's not enough to convince you then one of the characters looks like this...
