Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

It's because you're a massive sexist.
Also yes.
Nope, I keep forgetting about it when it comes to picking something to watch.
You should enjoy it, though if you've read a bit about it, you probably have massive expectations. Try going into it without too many preconceived expectations if you can.

I've heard it's very good but I know nothing of plot or anything like that. Will probably start it this week.

Do it, it's great.

Wasn't huge on the Broad City pilot. Found it pretty boring and not very funny. I do that with a lot of comedy shows first time around though.

anybody watched/s league of their own? watched one to see Rio and i liked it so i continued with the show(there is a channel on youtube where you can watch the whole episodes). Its pretty fun, great banter between them and they are doing some funny staff + Georgie Thompson

Seen an ad for Witnesses, a french police drama, anyone watched it before? Looked good but I'm skeptical about watching a show that has no English.
I liked the first episode. There are only 6 episodes so it's not much of an investment, just give it a go. You'll probably forget that you're reading subtitles if you just go with it

First few series were great, lots of funny moments. Latest couple of series have been pretty dreadful though.

Has anyone watched Scandal? Been shopping around for a new series to get started on, if it is similar to The West Wing or House of Cards I'm definitely interested.

Anyone watch The Guild or The Middle? Any good?

The Middle is very good and entertaining. My missus liked it too and she never likes anything of the sort!

I started watching The Wire yesterday. Only one episode and still at meh, hope it gets good before I jump ship!

Finished Bloodline. A brilliant show and one the best seasons I've watched recently.

Felt sorry for everyone involved towards the end.

As it stands no. It's a massive drop in quality from the first season and unless I hear good things about the final few episodes I'm probably no going to see it out.
Bullshit. That's what everyone said about season 1 unfortunately, but for some reason everyone forgot that.

RedMachine03, watch it. It's still as good as season 1, although different.

Anyone seen any of those animated FX shows? Axe Cop is good. Heard good things about Major Lazer. Not heard anything about Stone Quackers or Lucas Bros. Moving Co.

What? The first season was getting praised straight from the off, especially for the performances from the two leads.

Even if you want to be lenient and say it's been decent so far it is still a ways off of being as good as the first season. The writing in particular has been pretty poor.

Watch 3-5 episodes before judging it. I didn't enjoy the first two episodes and it took me about 3 times to finally get past them but now I reckon it's the best TV series I've seen.

A whole episode before passing judgement on the single greatest show ever televised?

If you give up on The Wire you should give up on TV.

I've watched two now and still no wow factor. I was hooked by the end of the first GoT for example. Don't feel the suspense of wanting to know what happens next as the episode ends.

Maybe it gets better but so far its poor. Could be a marmite one this...

No it isn't.

You either love it or you hate it and you are the worst human being ever.

The whole series unfolds slowly and doesn't really serve up big cliff hangers. It's not easy popcorn stuff like GoT.

I've yet to meet a single person who has watched the first season of The Wire and said that it was bad. The reason being that it is, as others have said, the greatest TV show ever made.

I have apparently discovered a new species of geeks. The Wiredos

Even my wife didn't enjoy it, but she had to admit it was an excellent show for the writing, acting, themes, etc. I can actually understand not liking it, but thinking it's poor would be a weird one.

I am with you there. I kept watching until middle of season 3 just because I could not believe I am not able to see the greatness everybody is talking about.
Maybe a lot of the fuss is coming from the past when it initially aired and shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones have not yet existed.

So far I've watched two episodes and it is poor. There's no wow factor nor is there anything that makes me desperate to keep watching or wanting to know what will happen next. That's what series thrive on, otherwise people wouldn't keep watching. It is entertainment and so far I am not entertained but I will stick with it for at least a season to please The Wiredos!

Disclaimer: I never really liked or followed policesque series.

I am looking for some new drama series to start watching. My favorite shows are Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. Other ones I greatly enjoyed have been The Shield, Sons of Anarchy (although it had some bad moments in season 3 and 4), Homeland seasons 1-3, Vikings, Rome, True Detective.
To a bit lesser degree I also liked Prison Break, The Tudors, Orphan Black.
I also enjoy stuff like Everwood, OC California or Gilmore Girls. However, I am looking for something dark and thrilling right now.

Series I thought that I might like but did not in the end have been The Wire, Shameless, 24 and Lost.

So based on that - which of the following series could fit the bill:

Deadwood
The Killing
Oz
House of Cards
Sleeper Cell
Broadchurch
Top of the Lake
Good Wife

I want something with shocking twists. Which show out of The Killing, Broadchurch and Top of the Lake is the most similar one in style and tone to True Detective season 1?

Thanks everyone!

I don't think so, loads of people have discovered the show recently. Please don't compare it to GoT.

Again, you're hooked, but it's not a poor by any stretch of the imagination.

I was hooked on Breaking Bad from the first episode. You people telling me how amazing it is are kind of raising my expectations but its failing to deliver so far!

Just in case anyone is interested my top 3 ever are as follows:

Sopranos
Breaking Bad
GoT

You can't describe it as marmite when the vast majority who've seen it believe it's one of the best things they've ever seen. It's a long, long way away from a 50-50 split. There must be very few people who've watched the first season and not liked it. It is nothing like you've ever seen before though. It depicts some of the biggest causes and consequences of a failing society in a careful, sensible manner with brilliant writing, directing and acting throughout.
