Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Im not surprised it was cancelled, but worse shows have been given more time to build a fanbase

I enjoyed season 1 but I have been unable to get through season 2. Ground to a halt after about 4 episodes so no surprise it got canned.

I had a hard time getting into it but ultimately loved it. Got better as it went along, I'd recommend you give it another go. There's also a psychedelic episode that you'll love.

This is how I felt on it. I remember I watched the first episode then went into the thread to say how shite it was but after giving it another go and then persisting with it it really grew on me.

Guessing you've watched Modern Family, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm?

If you like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, try My Wife and Kids.

Dunno if they count as big names, but It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Archer.

"Complications":John Ellis, a disillusioned suburban ER doctor, who finds his existence transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy's life and killing one of his attackers. When he learns the boy is still marked for death he finds himself compelled to save him at any cost and discovers that his life and his outlook on medicine may never be the same.

Has anyone been following Power this season? It's been really really good!

Right, just finished watching Sons of Anarchy, really enjoyed it. A lot of Jax's decisions really took me by surprise which I liked a lot about it.

I have a lot of night shifts coming up so I need a TV series that I can get hooked on and be able to binge watch.

I've been suggested Heroes, The Flash, Bloodline, Mad Men, Walking Dead, Hannibal, Blue Mountain State & Sense8.... Of which I haven't already seen.

What would you say is the best of the above?

Mad Men is probably the best. Bloodline is good, too. Never seen Heroes. The Flash is alright if you want something silly and turn your brain off. Hannibal's first season is IMO the best one, afterwards it's downhill and style over substance. Walking Dead has good episodes and a lot of boring episodes, the fifth season is supposedly decent, but I couldn't be arsed anymore.

Got about 45 seconds into this trailer and thought to myself "this could be great, looks kinda Wire-ish" then it popped up 'from the creator of The Wire'.

Will definitely be watching that.

It doesn't stop there either. You've got Oscar Isaac in the lead role, David Simon as the writer, AND Paul Haggis (In the Valley of Elah, Crash) directing. Looks frickin awesome. Plus it's a mini-series, so there's no pressure to keep milking it and producing an interminable run.

Anyone watch The Guild or The Middle? Any good?

Any new good shows I'm missing out on?

I've been out of the loop for a while now, having been traveling and working.

Mad Men's definitely the best show out of that lot, but then it obviously depends what you're looking for. A lot of those are more action orientated shows, so if that's what you want then Mad Men might not be the best option. Depends on your preferences.

I am watching the second season of "the last ship" , not sublime but quite entertaining.

What type of shows are you into? I've recently been watching Bloodline, it's a slow burner set in the Florida keys with brilliant performances and some stunning cinematography, you might enjoy it. It's a Netflix show.

Aye, it's ok, doesn't require much thought so is ideal after a crap day at work  In fact there's a few like that on at the minute; The Strain, Falling Skies, Dark Matter.

Yeah Bloodline was very good. You do have to stick with it though. I'm less hopeful for the Second Season though for various reasons, not least being
that the best character by far is dead.

Really enjoying Bloodline now, about halfway through. Great show. I want to go and spend a holiday in the Keys now.
I have been slightly suspicious of this given that it hasn't had the same kind of championing that say OITNB and House of Cards has had. Is there any TV show its comparable to?

Hmmm tough one. I'd say a recent one is True Detective in that it uses its setting (Louisiana for TD, the Keys for Bloodline) very well and makes it a real part of the show. True Detective is a lot more eerie I'd say though. Apparently, the writing team behind Bloodline is the same as Damages, and I guess there's some similarities.

In any case, it doesn't feel like something that's already been done and re-done, it's a very enjoyable show (a slow burner as I said, so you have to enjoy that, but if you do, it's great).

Cheers, will give it a watch so!

Tough choice.

Banshee is ridiculously stupid, but great entertainment. Some of the fight scenes are awesome.

Justified is far more grounded but offers up some great storylines and cool set pieces.

Justified is probably the better show, not sure it's the better watch though.

Never seen Justified but Banshee is a lot of fun.

I'll go with Banshee then. A lot smaller as well.

Thanks!

Watched the first two eps of Broad City and UnREAL last night.

Broad City is basically like a female Workaholics, with less of a plot. Or a funnier Girls, with more of one. I liked it. The two leads are likeable and Hannibal Buress is a good support. Fred Arnisen turns up in the first ep as a man baby, and apparently Amy Poehler (who also produces) does later (probably not as a man baby) If you like their kind of comedy, with a stoner bent, I reckon you'll like it.

UnREAL is basically like Aaron Sorkin's less talented younger brother has made a cynical comedy drama about a machivellian producer trying to run one of those hateful reality dating shows. The premise is really promising, but it's not really funny enough to be as obvious as it is, and the subplot about the lead production runner's mental state isn't very gripping, and again, a bit too obvious, but it's well done, and I enjoyed the cynicism.

Been hearing about this one for ages and always heard good things about it. There's a reason why I haven't watched a single episode of it yet, and I bet it's a really good reason, but I can't remember what it is.

Just checked out the wiki page, apparently Seth Rogen, Alia Shawkat, Janeane Garofalo and Amy Ryan make guest appearances in it as well. Maybe I should give it a go, but then again, there's a really good reason why I'm not watching it, I'm sure. Maybe the shit title?

It's very flighty and stream of consciousness heavy. Not a lot happens, but it's very easy watching. You could probably whack on 8 or 9 eps whilst doing something else, not really pay much attention, but enjoy it. Good music too.

It's because you're a massive sexist.
