Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

finished of Helix today and I thought the last 4 eps were pretty good , shame it has been cancelled, still plenty of unanswered questions.

Im not surprised it was cancelled, but worse shows have been given more time to build a fanbase

If you try to take TWD too seriously then yeah it's quite bad. When you step back and see what it actually is (a show about zombies ffs) then you realise it's actually quite entertaining. The Govener is a great villain, IMO.

Anyone got any good 30 minute shows? Looking for comedy mainly. I've watched a lot of sitcoms so need some that aren't big names.

Guessing you've watched Modern Family, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm?

If you like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, try My Wife and Kids.

he's a shit villain.

And yeah it's a show about zombies at its core, which would be fine, except most of it is taken up with trying to progress the characters and them dealing with all their real world shit amidst it. It's actually more of a melodrama in a zombie world than a zombie world with a bit of melodrama, and when the melodrama is so terribly written, it's a bit shit. I mean we've literally had entire episodes where there aren't even any fecking zombies.

Do you still watch it? I really couldn't continue after the shitcnut Governer returned and somehow managed to out-pathetic his version from the third season.

That episode where it revolved around him and that family was pretty much where I gave up. The missus forced me to watch a few more but I stopped completely once that ginger bloke turned up in the truck. I'd considered it so many times previously.

I managed to continue until the eight episode of that season, and then was the break, so never returned. Fantastic decision. If only I had done the same with Dexter (after the fourth season), or Lost (after 3 seconds), my life would have been happier.

I think I'll go for The Thick of It and Arrested Development. I saw a few episodes of Arrested Development back when it was on tele and didn't think it was that funny but maybe I was just to young to get it.

Michael Cera is actually from my neighbourhood, his school is like a 5 minute walk from me.

Znation is better for pure zombie action, they basically gave up on any character development and concentrated on finding new ways to kill zombies....electric food whisk to the head was one of my personal favourites.

Good choices, you're in for quite a few hours of great TV!

Try Sillicon Valley, it's pretty good. Entourage for geeks is a pretty good description.

Another recommendation for Bloodline on Netflix. 4 episodes in and liking it very much after a slow start. Really intrigued to see where it goes and as people have said the locale is gorgeous. Feel like I'm on holiday just watching it.

Also, about time that Ben Mendelsohn got a plum role (Animal Kingdom notwithstanding). He's an excellent unshowy actor.

I watched the first episode, and it was mind numbingly slow, and not the sort of slow when I was like "oh this has loads of potential so I'll stick with it", just really fecking slow and dull. Does it really improve that much after four episodes?

Hmmm I know what you mean. It's still pretty slow but then they add in a sub plot in episode 3/4 which helps. I've heard it ends with a bang so I'm gonna ride it out. I don't mind slow if the acting and cinematography is on point, which it is here.

Fresh Off the Boat is good fun. It's set in 1995 and is done like a 90s sitcom.

I'm about 6 episodes in and enjoying the first season. It's not constant laughs but there's enough, though they're generally very shallow jokes. Some of the 90s references are nice though.

I want an enjoyable comedy that I can stick on every now and then. I don't want anything shit like How I Met Your Mother or anything in that vein.
Watched a few It's Always Sunny In Philadelphias and it wasn't much better than it.

I like Eastbound and Down and Arrested Development to a lesser extent. Also really enjoyed Archer and Frisky Dingo but can't find any other decent cartoons (Sealab and Venture Bros didn't do it for me). Eagleheart is quite good but I'm not always in the mood for something so mental.

My Wife and Kids.

Before I get hate from everyone, it fits exactly what is asked for!

If not, Modern Family, An Idiot Abroad are both good if you've not seen them.

I watched it all over the last couple of weeks and ultimately I'd say it's good but flawed. Mainly style over substance and drags the story out far longer than is needed. I'd say it's similar to Better Call Saul in that sense. That said, like BCS it's better than most things out there at the moment in spite of its flaws.

US Office, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn 99, Rick and North, The Thick of It, UK Office, The League, Entourage, People Just Do Nothing, Extras, Peep Show.

Entourage and Orange is the new black. Neither of them are comedy though but really good shows

Parks and Recreation is a great comedy. First season is quite poor, but the upside is that it's very short! Some even recommend skipping it, but if you've got the time I'd watch it anyway as it gives some background on some of the characters.

Modern Family is decent too, but not too different from HIMYM really (or other "mainstream" comedies for that matter) - started strong, but the season that just ended hasn't been that good.

Aha I used to watch My Wife and Kids every day after getting back from school. Not really what I'm after here but it was a great show.
Modern Family is great but more of a light entertainment show than a laugh out loud comedy. Idiot Abroad is too contrived for me, and it annoys me how someone can be so unhappy in those amazing places.

I tried Parks and Recreation but it wasn't really cutting it for me. Apparently it gets better but I want some instant comedy at the moment. Will check out some of the others you mention though. Seen all of Peep Show (used to have it on while playing endless Football Manager at uni). Most of Extras I've seen but don't remember a lot of it so that could be a good shout.

Didn't really like Orange is the New Black. Seemed more aimed at a female audience and like it couldn't make its mind up what it was. Will have a look at Entourage though.

Yeah like I say, wasn't really feeling Parks and Rec. I'm not sure it could ever be that funny even if it does get better? Reasonably entertaining but not something I can stick on while I'm eating for a quick laugh if you know what I mean. Could be wrong if I'm only basing it on what I saw though.
And yeah, enjoy Modern Family but not what I'm after here. I'd say it's in another league to HIMYM though, which is really awful.

As you can see I'm struggling at the moment
Really don't feel like I'm that fussy either. Just want some general silly wittyness (like Archer is full of, but doesn't have to be a cartoon obvs).

Parks and Rec is really good fun, how many did you watch? I told a lot of mates to start at season 2, similar to the US Office, it massively picks up as they re-evaluate what direction they want to take things.

Maybe 3 or 4 of the first season. I may have a go at season 2 tonight then!

Ah, well - I wouldn't recommend Parks and Rec for something to "just put on". It's one of shows that require a bit of attention to really be funny, because a lot of it is quite subtle - which just makes it even better, if you are in fact focusing on it. I'd give season 2 a go in your case though, the improvement is quite massive. I've watched pretty much all the mainstream comedies (BBT, HIMYM, Modern Family, Scrubs and such) and Parks and Rec is in a completely different league.

Rick and Morty is a must. Try out Bobs Burgers, Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, Metalocalypse, Adventure Time, Axe Cop, Drawn Together, Invader Zim and Ugly Americans. Avatar! The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra for animations that isn't strictly a comedy.

For non-animated comedies try out Louie, Broad City, Workaholics, Scrubs or Police Squad. The League is also decent.

Add archer to the list of cartoons!

Anybody watching Wayward Pines. Episode 3 just took a crazy twist.

And what were people's thoughts on Enfield Haunting?
I disliked the show at first. It had its tense moments but I was expecting it to be more scary. The show and in undercurrent of humour all the way through and I didn't like that. However after I watched 'Interview With A Poltergeist' I saw that the show was just portraying how the real people involved acted throughout the ordeal.

Still wasn't as good as I first thought but decent.
