Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Ah, good to know maybe I should persist with this. Watched the first episode and found it very weak, with not much to laugh about. Maybe I'll go back to it.

Even the awful theme song becomes unbearably catchy and you find yourself singing it at random moments. Although that might just be me.

I also watched Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and found that surprisingly good as well, it's got me watching 30 Rock now( just reached season 3 and loving it so far).

Same here. Though I'm only in Season One. It seems to be getting funnier all the time.

Unbreakable!

I am really enjoying Blacklist at the moment. James Spader (Reddington) is great in it. Anyone else?

"A highly articulate, erudite and intelligent businessman and mastermind, "Red" Reddington, has allegedly been on the "10 Most Wanted List" of various U.S. law enforcement agencies for over 20 years. The legend is that Red is as elusive an Artiste as he is clever; Red built and controls a veritable labyrinth of creative enterprises coupled with uncanny ability to gather and finesse information at the drop of a hat. On the first day at FBI for a new female profiler fresh out of Quantico, Red offers to bandy wits with the FBI. Red promises to deliver various criminals and plots previously unknown to any branch of law enforcement... and all Red requests in return is to choose his muse."

I've watched both. Defiance I enjoyed, Helix is ok, I've just watched last nights episode from season 2.

I tried Defiance and ended up deleting it. The music and dancing just wound me up in the first episode.

I'm a little surprised how highly people rate The League. I think it tries way too hard and most of the scenes are just completely over the top, with situations that would never happen. I realize it's a comedy TV show, but I think IASIP is similar, yet achieves similar outrageous scenarios with a lot more subtlety.
It gets a bit over the top occasionally, especially in the later seasons. But the first few seasons are gold, especially if Rafi is involved.

I've only said so 3 or 4 times in this thread. Don't think anyone has listened to me. You should have a long time ago as we seem to have the same taste in TV.

I came across it pretty randomly as we just put on a random show whilst high.

I'm a Caf taste-maker, shows will only get recognition once I've seen them and start championing them!

Contemplating starting Fortitude, anyone watching it who can say whether that is a good idea?

I hope you didn't write this paragraph. I can't get past the first sentence featuring three synonyms. I award it an F.

Also, Bloodline on Netflix is an excellent show. Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini, Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepard are all good but Ben Mendelsohn steals the show. Gorgeous setting in the Florida Keys too.

One show I enjoy which nobody seems to watch is Sillicon Valley. Looking forward to season two.

Ha ha, no I copied that off IMDB! I do fancy the look of that Bloodline as well to be honest. Maybe next!

I'm watching the U.S. version of The Office and loving it.

At first, having seen and enjoyed the UK version, I really wasnt sure I'd like some of the characters (Dwight in particular), but now I love them all.

I watched the firt two episodes. Never went back to it for some reason, but it seemed good.

Need something new now that Justified is ending. Is Hannibal any good? Are the episodes case of the week stuff or is it serialised?

Hannibal is good shit. It's a bit brainless at times but fantastic at others, and generally fun all the way.

Is Lie to Me decent? Like actual decent, not like Bones or White Collar.

Bates Motel?

Hannibal is a great show and so is @Locka suggestion Bates Motel which is one of my favorite shows on tv right now. I also recommend Outlander, Bosch and Da Vinci's Demons. Also, Marvel Comics Daredevil will be premiering on Netflix on the tenth. If you like crime dramas check out a show called Power from the starz network.

Da Vinci's demons

Power

Bosch

Bates Motel

I like it, can be a bit strange in places but enjoying it.

Cheers, will give it a go then. The fact that it is set in the Arctic is intriguing in itself.

Also watched Bloodline last weekend. Well worth checking out for those who haven't seen it and Ben Mendelsohn should be getting a lot of awards this year for his work in it if there is any fairness.

Anything decent on UK Netflix?

I can watch the US version on the laptop, or pretty much anything on watchseries but I just wanna lie there and use the PS4 and basically get into a standard binge-watch coma without moving. Cba fiddling with DNS settings nor using the cable to hook up the laptop.

Seen Prison Break, Lost, Suits, Homeland, Community, OITNB and already watched all of Scrubs over the years.

Watched bits of Sons of Anarchy but can't really get into it. No desire to finish Breaking Bad and not gonna watch Better Call Saul.

Gotta be something long enough for a few series that's worth watching at least. House of Cards maybe? Or a comedy of some description perhaps.

It has been a while since I watched it but I remember enjoying it and Tim Roth is excellent in it. It is a new case each week type of series if you are into stuff like that. Worth a watch in my opinion.

One that's slipped under the radar amongst other Netflix Original Series releases....

House of Cards is excellent. Rome. I havent seen the US version of The Killing but I imagine its excellent, the original was. Really enjoyed Lillyhammer as well.

For comedies, The League or Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia are both on Netflix and both excellent. And Arrested Development.

Gonna have to get into The League, seen all of AD and most of Always Sunny.

I'll have a look at the others too, cheers.

You're not into bad-ass shows apparently.

The first season of Tina Fey's new show - The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - is up on Netflix. It's basically the same humour as 30 Rock with a chirpier disposition. I enjoyed it, and it contains a hilarious cameo from Martin Short, which is a sentence absolutely no one has said since at least 1992.
Just watching this, I kinda love it (and Ellie Kemper). Never got into 30 Rock either so should check that out.

And on Martin Short;

a) You can't say that after Inherent Vice!
b) There's a strange story to that cameo too - he was imitating a famous Hollywood plastic surgeon, Fredric Brandt, who killed himself apparently after watching the show. A few people are obviously blaming Tina Fey and the show for it now.

Some of it is great, a big chunk of it is quite random and aimless. Not a bad show, but nothing to get excited by either. But watch it if you want to get angry at the GGs for giving the award to Billy Bob Funny Haircut Thornton over McConaughey for his part.

Broad City is a really good show.

It's a weird one for me. Two episodes out of every three, I love. The other one I usually kill after five mins.

Has anyone mentioned Powers yet? It's on something called the PlayStation Network (which I find incredibly weird) but it's mostly excellent.

Set in a world where humans and super heroes co-exist, a former power now homicide detective, Christian Walker had his own powers taken from him. Along with his partner Deena Pilgrim they work in a special homicide division called Powers, which investigates crimes involving superhumans.

I watched an episode of Broad City and thought it was utter shite.

Anyone watching "The Affair"? (featuring 'yer man from The Wire')

One episode in and it's got me hooked. Tells the same series of events from different perspectives, which all perceive what happened slightly differently. Clever and interesting premise but I'm sure I've seen it used somewhere before?

My wife loved this. We saw the first 2 episodes in America last October and she watched the rest a couple of months ago. I missed a couple of epsiodes while she binge watched it but the episodes i did watch were good. A good story that keeps you guessing whose perspective is the right one and the acting performances were pretty strong throughout.

Yeah, I watched it reluctantly when my missus insisted we give it a go but was much better than I thought it would be. Quality acting and a very good cast. Not sure where it's supposed to be set but the location is stunning too.

Sounds like the premise of the movie 'Vantage Point'.
