Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

TV is so much better than movies these days. It is rare that I find a film even vaguely satisfying these days. Partly due to a decline in the art of film making and partly due to a huge rise in the quality of the best TV drama series.
True, and I think it's only going to get better (well, not as good as The Wire) due to the fact that A list actors are now realising that too, as we saw with True Detective.

I'm enjoying The Affair so far.

Yeah, it has been excellent so far. The idea doesn't sound particularly interesting but I love the use of the distorted memories by both parties. Hard to tell what the truth is. Also, it's funny watching Rawls and McNulty antagonising each other again.

Yeah the premise didn't really grab me but I gave it a go after the positive reviews and I've been pleasantly surprised. The subtle/not so subtle differences between their stories is very intriguing, I'm assuming it will lead to incriminating one or both of them in whatever crime has been comitted but it's keeping us nicely in the dark so far.

I had to google Rawls and McNulty, rather shamefully I've not seen The Wire.

I think the big advantage TV has these days is our ability to download series and binge watch them so easily. Used to wind me up no end waiting 7 days for the next episode of some series.

I've enjoyed the first 2 seasons. Not as good as the very best TV but it certainly keeps ypou wasnting to know what happens next. Season 3 has slowed but that is almost inevitable given season 2. I'm not a few episodes in to S3 so I'll reserve judgement for now.

Season five was actually really good. Just finished it. A lot better than season four imo.

The Wire is cops and robbers. Just very good cops and robbers stuff.

I've now finished The Sopranos. Generally loved it except for the very occasional filler episode
the episode that was almost entirely set in Tony's dream world after he got shot in season 5 and the Las Vegas episode in season 6

I know the ending is much debated
I hated it. Utter cop out which left you hanging. Treated viewers with contempt imo.
About the ending:

Recently, the creator of the show confirmed that Tony Soprano hasn't died, or anything like that. It simply, just was a black scene.

I have to force myself to continue watching Extant, only because I hate starting something and not finishing it. It started out great but went to shit at about episode 6 (I'm at 11 I think). I lost a bit of interest in Covert Affairs as well because it feels like everything is moving sideways and the plot is being recycled.

I've been binge watching Person of Interest and loving it so far. I like how it evolves over time.

BoJack Horseman

brilliant brilliant show... if like me, you are quite disappointed with south park last season, this might help you with that. They are not really similar, but feck it... just give it a go.

Does it get better? The first episode was alright, but I didn't find it funny.

Vikings is another great show. I'd recommend that to anyone.

I'm gonna pretend I didn't read this. That really would be a cop out.

That article has this near the end:
UPDATE: Chase's publicist put out the following statement:

A journalist for Vox misconstrued what David Chase said in their interview. To simply quote David as saying,“ Tony Soprano is not dead,” is inaccurate.
So the whole article can basically be disregarded.

I've been trying to watch SoA recently. What a load of rubbish. The only way I'm going to finish season 3 is if that annoying mum gets killed off.

I've persevered with The Walking Dead, I made it all the way through Dexter and I even watched the entirety of Scrubs Season 9. But I think Sons of Anarchy might defeat me.

Sons of Anarchy gets a lot of stick from pretty much everyone who comments on it, must be one of the world's most reviled shows. I dont know what is wrong with me that I find it perfectly good entertainment, there has never been one occasion when I have considered abandoning it. Neither do I lie in bed unable to sleep for waiting for the next season, to be fair. Dexter is a good comparison. When I am watching Dexter I get on perfectly well with it. A few months ago I was looking for something to watch and then remembered I had more Dexter, turned out I had fallen 3 or 4 serieses behind and it had all finished without me noticing. This wouldnt have happened with Sopranos or The Shield but when it was on I was happy enough. SoA is like that for me.

Scrubs on the other hand, I couldnt get past about series 2 or 3 with that. Ditto The Inbetweeners. In fact basically it is comedy. Arrested Development, Sunny, Spaced... I cant think of too many other comedies I would ever rewatch. I tried to rewatch Curb a month or so ago and couldnt do more than a couple of episodes, it was doing my head in.

Transparence is absolutely brilliant. The writing and acting is so so impressive. Raced through the first season (10x30 min episodes) in less than a week.

Did anyone here watch This American Life when it aired?

Any good?

Season four might be your demise then, although season five is a lot better, it's probably the best season it's had in actuality. (I've just started season six)

It's probably been mentioned already but Suits is an excellent show.

Just finished Breaking Bad. Waiting for Series 4 of Game of Thrones DVD in February.
I need something to watch with the wife. Something a little dark and unpredictable.
I read the threads on Hannibal and Blacklist and people don't seem so impressed.
Anything else out there?

Just finished season 6 myself and the ending was one of the biggest "Holy shit!" moments I ever had while watching TV.
