Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

I’m weird in that I find British stuff really depressing. Reminds me of Sunday evenings before going back to school when I lived in England.

Get me some Sopranos or The Wire and I’m happy.

The theme tune to 'Heartbeat' still gives me PTSD about the last drop of the weekend being used up and the dread of going to school.

Thanks. I'm on episode six, season 2. Big decision to make here ;)

 theres no ongoing story from one series to the other, So youre fine finishing season 2. There is a lot of crossover of characters though, and some inside jokes, stuff like that. Some of the seasons of wife have some really great writing and characters. A little jealous you get to watch it for the first time .

All seasons of Mr Robot are superb, don’t listen to the haters.

It’s refreshing tv, we need more stuff like that around.

I’m struggling to find anything on Netflix I like these days. Too much unfunny comedy shows. I’m fed up with satirical stuff. I just can’t seem to Arrested Devlopment, I don’t like ‘wacky’ stuff and the characters are far too exaggerated for my liking.

Tried Community, hated it. Always Sunny I just get annoyed with the characters (yes I know we’re suposed to dislike them.)

Where is the cutting edge tv?
Santa Clarita Diet is funny.

I finally got around to finishing Kingdom. It was great up until the end of the last episode, there's a twist that doesn't make a great deal of sense and it ends on a fairly huge cliff hanger. It doesn't feel like the kind of premise you can drag out for too long either. All in all though it was a great show.

Good, I am really looking forward to it now, cheers ;)

'The Chi' is quality TV love it.

If your trans curious ;) or at least not transphobic 'Pose' is pretty good.

Watched it, although last season was trash, it's like the rich people problems version of Pose. I wonder want it's going to like without Jeffrey Tambor.

Season 4 wasn't bad IMO. Apparently it will be wrapped up as a movie. I like the writer and creator, Jil Soloway, and I met her at a filmmakers convention in 2017 where she talked about some of her own personal experiences that she based the show on. She did a brilliant job with Six feet under, that's easily one of the best shows made in this golden age of tv. Did you ever watch it?

Season 4 was set mainly Israel as l recall,l didn't like but still watch it. I didn't know Jil Soloway was involved with Six Feet Under, I did watch it a great show with so many good actors in it.

Yes she was one of the producers and writers

Started Veep recently. Enjoying it! Julia Louis-Dreyfus is great.

Oh, you’re lucky. I love getting into a great series late and then being able to splurge, as I did with the first four seasons of GoT.

I’d recommend anything featuring Joe Wilkinson and/or Diane Morgan.

Can anyone tell me if the Man in the High Castle is worth watching? I've had it on my list for a while but never got around to watching it.

Not a must see but well worth a watch. It kept me hooked while I binged the 3 seasons.

How is the third season? I was disappointed in the second season & have put off watching the third.
Maybe slightly worse. You're right not persevering if you didn't enjoy S2.

Disappointing. The first season was rather good which prompted my efforts to complete the second season.

On a completely different vein, I just stumbled across ‘Unsolved,’ the USA miniseries about the LAPD investigating the Biggie Smalls murder & got hooked early. I am halfway through it; it is not to the level of The Wire, but it is engaging.

There is a yet to be released by almost a year film about the LAPD investigation into BIG’s murder that stars Johnny Depp & Forest Whitaker. It was supposed to open in theaters last September, but was yanked without being rescheduled, potentially due to Depp’s domestic abuse issue last year.

Half way through Sharp Objects at the moment.

Amy Adams is a brilliant actor.

Anyone seen the new show Warrior?
It's pretty good if you like good action and naked Asian chicks. Apparently 'based on the writings of Bruce Lee'. It's based in San Francisco after the Civil War with the Chinese coming into the US looking for work and the tensions between them and the Irish and between the various Chinese tongs who are trying to control San Fran.

Some of the racist remarks made on the show against the Chinese will make your skin crawl and the way the show depicts the treatment of migrants, with the migrants considered to be filled with criminals and carrying various diseases, draws parallels to how the migrants seeking refuge are treated even now.
6 episodes out so far, already renewed for Season 2 and IMO one of the best new shows on TV right now

New season of Big Little Lies is on youtube for free currently? I am confused. Uploaded by HBO.

Must be an age thing. It was definitely Poirot that gave me Sunday night blues too

I cant believe I typed the last statesmen, supposed to be the new statesman :wenger:. But yeah, I gave poirot a viewing a couple of years ago. It still does it to me. Near enough breaking the skip button on my remote .
