Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

:lol::lol::lol:

At the end of the day it's a matter of taste and opinion. What else are you fecking basing it on? The writing, premise, characters etc etc are all down to opinion and taste. If you went into stuff like ratings etc, PB did very well for the first few seasons.

First season was fantastic and while it eventually went down a notch, certainly enjoyed every season and would rather sit there and watch this than some of the right boring drama shit that some people would rather watch. That's called an opinion though. The writing for season one and the twists and turns were actually bloody good (the twists throughout were mostly bloody good. The only problem it had was as the seasons went on, they tried more and more twists to a point where for some, it probably began to go too far). You can come with the pathetic "Oh if you think that then you need to watch more television!" or "Oh I clearly know more than you if you think that. My taste is superior. I like brilliant, intellectual written shows! Go me!", not really going to change the fact that none of what you're saying is fact.

How on earth can you think Prison Break was better than Oz?

Firstly, I never actually said it was 'better'. Secondly, ya know, I enjoy it more? You like Oz? Congratulations. That doesn't mean that everybody in the existence has to rather watch it than a show that they enjoy more.

Star Trek is fecking massive and highly regarded as an outstanding show, that doesn't mean I have to give two shits about it or regard it as better than another show that I like. There's no fact proving anything right or wrong when it comes to this, though I'm sure somebody will try to argue there is.

Look up "common sense".

I'm looking for a new comedy.

Office(US) or Parks and Rec?

Tough call, personally I prefer Parks and Rec but the earlier seasons of The Office were also superb.

Just don't use the first series of either show as a basis for how good they are. They're only six episodes long and The Office is basically a carbon copy of the UK version in the first season whilst Parks and Rec is basically a copy of The US Office in its first season!

Overall I think Parks and Rec is better (and is still great, in its fifth season) but seasons 2-4 of The Office are some of the best American comedy you will find.

I watched Parks and Rec season 1 again recently and it ain't that bad. Funnier the second time around although I'm not really sure why. Probably because you have more affection for the characters. Anyway KM, it's a brilliant show - consistently funny throughout.

Strange seeing Mark again though, you just completely forget he even existed

I'd spoil that Mark bit Sally ^

But yes

I remember I liked Mark in season 1 and hated Andy. Oh how things change.

Thanks than lads. I'll download Parks and Rec.

Cheers.

Whoops, edited it although he's already seen it by now. Apologies, not a huge spoiler anyway to be fair. It won't ruin it for you or anything.

Ok, Alphas season 1 done, season 2 mysteriously appeared on my laptop overnight and just moved into my iTunes library ;) Also started watching Heroes yesterday, done the first 6 episodes of season 1 so far, and really enjoying it.

I may be addicted to US Netflix, especially combined with Apple TV

Okay so in recent years some of the series I've seen are Prison break, 24, west wing, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The walking dead. (We can cross off prison break as it was shit after the first season).

The Wire is one I want to watch but can't be bothered to get into now, what do you guys recommend me?

I might watch BBC's Robin Hood. Anyone seen it?

Edit: might actually get involved in Spartacus.

Spartacus is excellent, but why cant you be bothered getting into the Wire?

Its not an overly long series

60 episodes, that's 60 hours that ill be glued to the tv. Although it is on my to watch list.

This. Though I think that there are more than just 3 seasons of The Office US which were superb, up till the end of season 6 it was consistently hilarious for me. Start with The Office, and then do Parks and Rec.

And definitely take Cina's advice: both of those shows first seasons were mediocre and don't reflect just how good both shows get. First season of P&R especially was very weak, and the characters (most of all Leslie's) are a bit tweaked in the beginning of season 2.

Had COMPLETELY forgot about that Mark character! He was crap. Introducing Rob Lowe and Adam Scott was brilliant though.

Hm, I watched the first episode of Parks and Rec and thought it was shite.

After those comments above I might give it more time.

I'm thinking of starting either Breaking Bad or Walking Dead, which should I go with first?

2 brilliant series. I'd say start with Walking dead first because there's only 3 seasons, after that you'll be able to jump straight into Breaking Bad. The other reason I would say to watch breaking bad second is because the second half of the final series doesn't start for another couple of months so you might want to hold off on that if you're as impatient as me.

Yush, but it's also 60 of the best hours you'll ever spend in front of the telly, neverminding United ;)

It's tempting, I might start it by the summer.

Oh I don't recommend flash forward to anyone, what a waste of my life that was. Completely forgot I'd even seen it, tried wiping that out of my memory.

Yes, and I was asking why you thought Prison Break was better than Oz in terms of "writing, premise, characters". Not sure what the rest of your post was about to be honest. Watch what you want to watch, I just wanted to know why you thought Oz was so bad (or Prison Break so good) that it's laughable to have the opinion it's a better show.

Don't know what Oz is about, but Prison Break annoyed the crap out of me, only watched the first season.

Executing plan ---> almost get caught ---> extremely unlikely event saves them

Rinse and repeat. Every episode. I just can't suspend my disbelief with such obscene accumulations of luck. It gets boring when you know they will make it but the solution is so far fetched that you can't even try and guess it. You just go "ok"...

BB shits all over TWD from a great height. Watch it first.

I'd probably watch TWD first, as it's only the three seasons (which I still have to watch, only on S02). By the time you get it watched you will be able to watch BB and hopefully then you won't have to wait as long for the next batch of episodes.

* And from what I have seen, I agree that BB shits all over TWD.

I've watched about 5 episodes of OZ, and I like it. I'm sure it will pick up a bit as it goes on, but it does feel very dated when watching it.

I didn't say TWD was better, just that it's shorter and the final half of BB doesn't come out til the summer so he might as well hold off and watch it afterwards.

I gave it a couple of seasons (I really wanted to get into it) but never really got around to continuing it.

You're right, it doesn't really feel like it has stood the test of time.

I watched Oz when it was on channel 4 back in the late 90s, it was great then and still holds up. Get's a little odd in the last couple of seasons (and there's a little too much gay rape for my liking) but is great TV, real pioneering HBO stuff.

Oz and Prison Break have very little in common apart from the setting. It's like comparing The West Wing with Commander in Chief.
