Antony under investigation by Brazilian authorities for domestic abuse | Inquiries ended | Back in the squad

Was there ever actually any evidence at all that any media outlet who reported this was aware of?

Obviously it's different if the evidence gets plastered over social media but I really think there should be laws against reporting stuff like this until after any charges are made or police have concluded investigating. It's unfair on both parties in terms of public judgement and incentivises selling a story for money over any form of fair justice.

Trial by social media as per the norm these day. Trail by RedCafe judging by just the last few pages to be fair.

Just goes to show really.

Thing is it doesn't benefit either party. Accused gets presumed to be an abuser and the accuser no doubt gets people hounding them claiming they are lying. Also potentially biases or makes any investigation more difficult.

The police/CPS in this country have a history of messing up with sexual assault/abuse cases where evidence and bias/outside pressures end up getting blurred. And the media have an even worse history of portraying only one side of a story in order to vilify someone and/or switching sides the second its convenient.

The biggest problem with this place (or any set of fans tbh) with it being a footballer is if he was banging in 35 goals a season the views/opinions would mysteriously be very different. As we've seen in the past with whether its ok for footballers to be racist, flying karate kick members of the public, etc. or not.

In seriousness, I wonder if this will make any difference

Ten Hag has said on record that Antony’s poor performances are down to the ongoing investigation

Imagine the UK one will be dropped too in due course now that the Brazilian one has
