£50m guaranteed, £5m for finishing in EPL team of the season, £8m for winning the league.
Do you think Ajax are idiots?

Ajax only works with add ons that are quite realistic of happening. Generally qualifying for CL is the condition Ajax uses. However for United that's quite a risky condition. I think in dealing with United Ajax would be more likely to work with add-ons based on appearances.

Ajax should hire you, if you are not already their staff.

Maybe they should also add add-ons based on player's ability to put on socks and shoe, wearing shinpad and also wearing shorts to show ManUtd logo on the front.

£63m. When you look at Raphinha and Richarlison it’s all in the same ball park really
Exactly. It's beyond me why you all think Antony should be cheaper. Antony is younger, already challenging those players for their NT spot and simply has a higher ceiling. He may not have PL experience, but then he has CL experience which they don't have. Antony should actually be more expensive than Raphinha and Richarlison because Antony is pretty much at their level at this already and actually has the potential to grow to world class level (unlike Raphinha and Richarlison who are good, but this is what it is). If Richarlison and Raphinha would be the same players they are right now but played for Olympiakos, no one would rate them as £60-£65m players. Yet now you act like it's a decent fee for them. Players are not better just because they have Premier League experience.

You can try to be funny, I'm just saying it the way it is. Ajax have sold many players with add-ons in the past years and details that came out about the add-ons always suggested that the vast majority of the add-ons are related to very realistic goals. I see no reason why Ajax would change it's stance on that. Especially not when negotiating about players that Ajax don't want or need to sell (hence Ajax holds the leverage).

If Antony is not worth £55 mill, is he good enough? Considering some of the young talents in the squad (Amad, Pellistri) do we need another talent that might be good enough? Surely, a young attacker at 22 good enough to be a starter at Man Utd should be worth £50-60 mill?

We will sign him before the end of the window. Question is just how much for.

You lost me at 'only if we manage to keep Martial'!!
You laughed at me when I first mentioned Martial. Well, you're not laughing now are you?:) we're basically stuck between him and dybala and I reckon dybala is worse.

I’ll be very surprised if we sign five players this summer

Tyrell, Eriksen, De Jong, Martinez and Antony all in one window? That’s basically half a new team:eek:

Really hope he's good enough. From the clips at times he looks great, other times he passes it sideways or is wasteful.

It would be the right response from one of the world's richest clubs to their weakest season in ages. Only worry would be the lack of goals despite the spending but we have to put trust in ETH

Yeah no RB & striker worries me

I haven’t said he should be cheaper. I think £60m is the going rate! That’s what I’ve just said.

Antony is 3 years younger than Raphinha and Richarlison too (22 v 25)

I think Antony is that rare gem that’s got pace, tricky, crowd pleaser and genuine left footed right winger a 22 year old Mo Salah 8 years ago was £30-40m so I guess with no CL and the state we are in I think £100m for The two Ajax lads Martinez £43M and £57M is about right now if we offset that with £15M Bailly, £5M Phil Jones, £10M Pereira and T Chong £5M as outgoings would offset the investment to a net position of £65M if we add Dybala as a free then for me that’s good business, the problem is selling the players who are on ridiculous contracts. With what’s going on with Ronaldo it makes me wonder why we didn’t get Cavani to extend for 1 season with only wages as a cost and someone if is fit would fit into Ten Hags system better fir one season.

I know you didn't say that. 'You' was meant in plural in this case and referring to the general opinions here. Obviously I saw that you were advocating the same thing.

He gives me Andreas Pereira vibes. Looks to have lots of skill, but doesn't seem to be strong, quick or slick enough to consistently get the better of his man in the Premier League.

Someone is probably going to argue that physical strength doesn't matter or something along those lines, but a winger in the Premier League needs to be strong or nimble no matter how diminutive to be able to hold off challenges consistently, or they would look out of their depth or spend plenty of time on the ground trying to buy free kicks.

I'd still have him either way. We are desperately light in attack, and considering that we are not being linked to many players, he will be better than no one.

This money doesn’t exist.

£50m even without add ons is very much what Antony is worth max.

Hope we dont get this guy he aint worth it, Martinez makes sense he is a better player than Timber right now and was their player of the year. Antony has high work rate but poor numbers even in Eredevisie. There is just better options out there could take that money and potentially get Gnabry and Dumfries for instance.
You are absolutely kidding your self if you think you get those two for £63m

Maybe so but we are not that great at negotiating so I expect £55-58M and yes that’s far too much but we are the desperate fans of this transfer window are we not ?

It may be a realistic value, but Ajax can sell him for that value next season even if he doesn't have an extraordinary season. However with another opportunity for him to shine in CL and a WC coming up and since he has all the talent to make an impact at any level, he can easily have an increased value next season. Since Ajax don't want to sell right, he has 3 years left on his contract and there's a good possibility his value will increase (significantly) in the next 12 months, Ajax are not selling for a reasonable fee.

Besides that, as was discussed earlier in this topic, Richarlison and Raphinha really aren't better than Antony and they are priced at £60-65m. Antony is younger and has a higher ceiling. They are not better players just because they have played in the Premier League before. Ajax would look like total idiots selling Antony for £50m at this point in time.

I can see Ajax moving down from the £68m asking price, but it's going to take £60-65m to get Ajax to sell. I agree this is a steep fee at this moment in time, but Ajax hold all the leverage. There's no reason for Ajax at this point to sell for a reasonable fee. Also has nothing to do with United showing interest, which is what some people suggest. It's just business. Ajax don't want to sell this player, the player has a long term contract and Ajax rate him very highly and have all the reason to believe his value will increase in the next 12 months. In this situation it is simply going to take a steep fee to get the deal done. There is no reason why Ajax should accept a reasonable fee in this situation.

£67 million and it wouldn't be that far off, reported to be 30-50 million euros each depending on who you trust. Don't forget Gnabry's contract has 1 year left and Inter only paid 12 million euros for Dumfries who had an inconsistent season, not to mention their need to raise money.

Don't think we'll get de Jong. Just seems too much of a convoluted situation with too much at stake for Barca and de Jong. Suspect he'll stay and at some point we'll hear that they've ironed out the issues with the payments amicably.

Eriksen would be a Free transfer, and with the massive savings from the wages of outgoing players he really has no impact on the summer transfer budget.

Really depends if his agent is prepared to kick up a fuss about his clients treatment and demand money he's owed

For the 105M, would you rather have: De Ligt + Danjuma or Martinez + Antony?
As a Dutchie who's seen a lot of all of them; in combination I would go for Martinez + Antony. I don't think Danjuma's got what it takes. Villarreal is his limit.

Nevertheless if you have all that money I would go all out for De Ligt instead of Martinez and just leave Antony for what it is. With Sancho, Rashford, Martial and Elanga you have 4 options and Bruno could also play from the wing. Antony would be another option and if he would be brought in I'm sure he'd be a starter in many games. I however don't consider the wing position as a position where you need a player the most.

De Ligt would have the biggest impact of all those players, therefore I would go all out for him (and Frenkie) and then see what's left to strengthen other positions.

Lallana. Have you ever seen Antony play? Sure he needs to improve himself. He is 22. The sky is the limit for him though. Ten Hag knows this and that's why he wants him.

About as absurd as suggesting he's Mane level. Yeah I've seen him play. You only have to watch a 5 minute highlight video to see the limitations in his game. Mane can breeze past people with his pace and dribbling ability, Antony can't. He's closer to Sancho / Lallana in the sense that he's very good on the ball, can do a silky little dribble / pass but won't be running past static defences.
