No. He is 22 and not in the same league as top top players.

Jarrod Bowen got 12 goals and 10 assists in league last season. He was one of the most productive wingers in the country. Plus, he would cost roughly the same as Anthony. So even if you have bought the Brazilian Bowen for 100m Euros, that would still be a decent signing.I was going to ask earlier how long until he has 1 bad performance and opposition fans say something like "Love watching the 100m Jarrod Bowen" or some other random player. Bowen was the one I had in mind because it was most predictable.
You didn't even wait for him to play for us. Good job.
There is absolutely no proof that saving £10/£15/£20 million on this transfer would then see us spend that exact amount on another player. Its clear that budgets aren’t finite but I also think that Football manager-cation of club finances isn’t the correct way to look at things either, EtH wouldn’t have received an email his first day in the job with a toggle between wages & transfer budget. The issue is that transfer budgets are finite. Every penny we spend on this guy is money we don't spend on someone else. Overpaying on him could mean that our budget for a right back drops from £40M to £20M next summer, for example. Or it could mean we can't afford even a backup striker for this season. In isolation the number attached to his transfer is neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned, but I am worried about the knock on effect for future transfer windows.
Don't look at him only by his goals. As a reminder these are Ronaldo's first three seasons at United:

Nobody expected that skinny kid to be a world beater. But one thing was clear since the beginning, he was super talented and could get past defenders with ease.
He will probably be targeted with hard tackles and what not to deter from showboating and scare him to submission.
Who knows, every player is different. We just need to get back to winning things and minimize the chances of good players wanting to leave, and deal with those situations as they come.First of, I love this signing. Finally some charisma and some flair. Lovely!
Then, let's say he takes the world with storm, excel at the World Cup and makes himself a true superstar. How long will it take before he, like all other South American players, starts to moan about going to "oh mighty" Barcelona or Real Madrid. "They have always been my favorite clubs".
Or is that a thing of the past?
Lots of people are forgetting that skinny kid was 18. What were his stats at 22?Don't look at him only by his goals. As a reminder these are Ronaldo's first three seasons at United:

I've noticed he gets back up quickly and goes at it again and again when that happens to him.
Vinicius Jr is up there as well, only 22.of the same age bracket?
Apart from Mbappe and probably Haaland there isn't really other standouts that Antony can't catch up.
18 or 22 what's the difference, we have seen so many young talents that failed. My point is to look at the overall performances rather than goals and assists and that players below 25 can still improve by a lot.Lots of people are forgetting that skinny kid was 18. What were his stats at 22?
Definitely. Is he potential Ballon dor material?
I mean, simple maths tells you that the last season listed there ended when he was 21, so it’s vastly different from how you’re attempting to paint it.Lots of people are forgetting that skinny kid was 18. What were his stats at 22?
No one paid 100m for those guys, thoughI mean, simple maths tells you that the last season listed there ended when he was 21, so it’s vastly different from how you’re attempting to paint it.
Salah’s numbers also aren’t incomparab to Antony’s at the same age, and that was in Egypt and Switzerland so an even lower level.
I mean the transfer market has gone even stupider in the time since then, so that’s also a daft comment. Nobody was spending 100 million for Núñez then either. No one paid 100m for those guys, though
Okay, true. Neither United nor Chelsea made Ronaldo or Salah their record signing or close to it. Better?I mean the transfer market has gone even stupider in the time since then, so that’s also a daft comment. Nobody was spending 100 million for Núñez then either.
Transfer fees aren’t comparable in that way
I agree that stats are not the end all be all, just the comparison was a bit disingenuous. Someone mentioned that he could be what Neymar could've been because of the attitude. I'd be very happy if he could be like first season Pulisic, who I thought looked the dogs bollocks until he lost his confidence. He could be what pulisuc was supposed to be.18 or 22 what's the difference, we have seen so many young talents that failed. Off topic here, but Ribery was wayyyy inferior to RobbenDefinitely.
He has all the technical ability, flair and personality to become absolutely world class. And from there it’s about having in the right system that allows him to maximize his potential and enter the Ballon D’or race.
Is he Ronaldo? No, but no one in history has been that good. But he can most definitely reach the heights of the likes of Robben, Ribery, Bale etc
He may or may not reach that level, but if he shows the right desire and determination then he has the talent to follow through
Nani was grievously underrated by United fans, and suffered from being shunted onto the left following Valencia’s arrival.Too early, but I won't be surprised if Antony far surpasses Nani
Yeah but can turn on the shithousery if needed

We’re only a few seasons away from the first 200m transfer fee.
Antony will be a brilliant addition to the squad. Strength in playing through the tackle, left footer, audacity.
Its been a long time since we had some shithousers in the team.
Far too long we've been signing soft touches like lindelof and the like. Its time for us to bully people.
Genuinely hate when are lot do that, Rashford/Mbappe, Martial/Henry, Sancho/generational talent. Would settle for him just making the right side his and improving the team as a whole leave the Ballon D'or talk till he's at least had a good season ffs.I agree that stats are not the end all be all, just the comparison was a bit disingenuous. Considering what Neymar has achieved on and off the field for PSG since then, how much has he really been worth?Specifically five and a bit seasons, given that’s how long ago it did happen
I think age 25 is actually at a very good age to maximize fee, as we’ve seen in the past, world record transfer is Neymar at 25.
And I wouldn’t say Antony has higher ceiling than Raphinha, even though he is 3 years younger. I have watched their game in Brazil shirts, they look almost identical in talent, with Raphinha look even more electrifying/impactful. Younger doesn’t necessarily means better talent, as Antony isn’t really some 18 year kid type of unpolished raw talent, although he could still improve his decision making and end products. But in terms of pace/trickery/skills/electrifying footwork, 22-23 is actually near the peak age.
Messi and Ronaldo at around 22-23 is at their Ballon D’or peak level. Mbappe or Haaland at 22-23 is already among top top player in the world. For trickery/skilful attacking winger, usually at around 22-27 would be their peak years.
Below is their game earlier this year in the same Brazil game, against same opponents, for comparison:
One thing I know for sure is Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelena fought for Raphinha's signature in the beginning of the window, and these clubs showed no interest in Antony.
