Yes, we won the match today but if anythign comes from watching the match today it's the obvious need of a player on the wing that can create for himself.

Elanga, outside of the effort that started the goal, was a headless chicken just running into defenders on the dribble. He reminded me of what we've seen from Rashford for the past couple years. Sancho was really quiet today for the most part and Rashford didn't really offer much either. Ronaldo looked a bit void of interest and when the CB caught him from behind on the 1v1 , his 37 yr old legs showed up.

Just get the deal done and over the line before the end of the window.

Pay whatever it takes.

I'd double the fee just to ensure we dont have to start Elanga on the right and/or Rashford up front ever again.

I'm afraid we will see that plenty this season. Martial fitness level is not very reliable.

I love how reactionary people are. One match and it's "pay whatever it takes", as if it wasn't already obvious we needed him

If Sancho is on the left and Antony is on the right, then I think we'll be seeing more of Rashford up front.

Sanchonis more of a playmaker. This guy is a winger.
I would agree with him, there are similarities between Antony and Sancho. Both lightweight full of tricks players who like to make play. Obviously Antony had more fun taking players on in the defensively weak Eredivise in a top team (YT highlights are great for this) but so was Sancho in the youth and for Dortmund, even though he developped into more of a playmaker lately.

If antony comes I am expecting to have a little lightweight player with really good touch and dribbling getting players into play than consistently using tricks against and out sprinting physically strong EPL players.

The league comes down to those two because they comfortably beat everyone else. It’s no coincidence the top two spending teams beat the other teams most of the time, which means the league is often decided when they play each other.

3rd place last season finished 12 points off the top, that’s the gap between these two.

Imagine us and City spent £100m every summer and the rest of the league only spent £10m. What do you think would happen to the league?
Yeah, I was just pointing out that it's not a given that Ajax will walk the league even without Antony (and most of last year's starting XI on top of that) just because they spend much more than PSV like quite a lot of people here seem to think.

PSV will always remain a close contender even if Ajax were to out spend them 10:1 for a decade straight. The other teams are too weak and the squad turnover rate is too high to dominate consistently like Bayern does.

I'd like to see him here but on today's evidence we need a striker far more.

In truth, we need both. If we're going to keep playing a front 3 or 4-2-3-1, and I think we're assuming that Sancho is going to keep his position on the left, it still leaves question marks for the opposite flank and the central position.

My order of preference would be a top quality striker first, and then a winger/wide player/wide forward after that. If we're looking to do anything this season, the club needs to evaluate what it wants to do in both positions. We desperately need more creativity and goals up front. It wasn't a great attacking performance today.

Please please please get him. Elanga and Ronaldo are horrid footballers right now and we need competition for the wings desperately

Yep. Rashford, too. All 3 are diabolical and Martial is made out of glass.
No not raahford at all. Raahford on the left wing IMO is perfectly capable of being part of a 3 man rotation with Sancho and Antony. He showed it vs Liverpool, but i think he's heavily reliant on who the striker is. Needs someone to link with him and drop deep like Martial does.

Just give them the Amad Diallo. He’s not going to get his chances and being used in here if we get Antony anyway.

I agree that Rashford on the left has his place in rotation, he and Martial have always had good synergy when they're both fit.

Edit: pointless reply removed. I Like this forum and you guys. Scholes not so much though.

Nothing strange here, just typical English bias where if you don't play in England, no one will see it. Nevermind he won't be seen playing in the CL for this season compared to what he would do in Ajax or other 'proper' clubs.

dumb thing to say, Ajax is obviously a proper football club. Could easily talk about taking a step up in terms of limelights and quality of the league without shitting on Ajax there.

Absolutely. What would they say? More CL, more Ballon dor winners, more golden boy winners, more international titles all while not having the huge edge Manchester United has post 1997 Bosman.

United definitely are doing it the like they intented to, I'm sure battling it out with Newcastle United for top 6 in 2023 is the way of a 'proper' football club.

Something like that?
Or just call Scholes a bit of a doofus?
You're a feeder club now.

Behave.

Paul Scholes is a genuine idiot tbh. As a United fan I cringe pretty much evetytime he opens his mouth. Much preferred him when he was just an incredible footballer who never spoke to the press.

As for Ajax, we could only dream of being so well run. Incredible football club that deserve nothing but respect.
