Paul Scholes is a genuine idiot tbh. As a United fan I cringe pretty much evetytime he opens his mouth. Much preferred him when he was just an incredible footballer who never spoke to the press.

As for Ajax, we could only dream of being so well run. Incredible football club that deserve nothing but respect.

Yeah I know what he means, United is obviously a step up but wording it like that is pretty insulting.

I don't want to fight. I like your club and enjoy this forum.

So I am going to bail out and wish everyone a nice day.

Congratulations on your win today.

Thats going to ruffle some feathers.

But I think he was taken out of context.

Ajax have always been a club that relies on selling players. Everybody at the club admits this is their business model and its no secret. This is how they survive and thrive. By selling their best young players every year. Then relying on their youth teams/scouting to replenish the first team.

They wouldn't be able to continue operating at the highest level if they didn't adopt this model. The dutch league brings in too little money for them to even remotely be competitive in Europe.

It was poorly worded by Scholes.

and then insinuated they are not a real/proper club. Prefacing a rude statement with "I don't want to be rude here, BUT ..." doesn't make it any better.

I have this guy at work that has these funny backhanded compliments when he talks about people at work. (directly translated from Norwegian)

"Not to be ugly, he is a nice guy BUT he is bit of a lazy cnut aswell!"

You can see why we want him so badly. The front 4 today with maybe the exception of Sancho are allergic to ball retention. Fernandes will always play hot potato, Elanga just doesn’t have the guile to keep it, and Rashford is a counter attack forward at his best. A guy like Antony seems to have that as his bread and butter — get out wide right, give him the ball and he’ll keep it and progress past a player or two.

Sadly not even him would be enough. We literally have no striker that can be relied upon.

Mad that we are vastly overpaying for yet another wide player when we are relying on Martial upfront

Just give them the Amad Diallo. He’s not going to get his chances and being used in here if we get Antony anyway.
Why would they wna ta player like that, he failed to impress the last two seasons, why would they be in for him and not other 15 targets they closely follow and think it's better fit. Diallo is lazy footballer, people don't get it when they see how good his touch and passing can be but on top of being physically weak, he rarely press and win the ball. These kind of players won't go far in modern football.

Don't think he's the profile of an Ajax player..

That’s abit silly from Scholes. Ajax are obviously a smaller club than United but they are still a proper European club with pedigree and has produced top class players over the years from their academy

Brobbey was a failure at RB Leipzig and they still signed him because they think he has talent to be developed at Ajax. Amad still has talent and potential, and I’m sure even Ajax would be interested if we offer the player to them.

I'm sure fans know better than professionals. Fans are always right.

Correct. When the "professional" is question in someone like Scholes, Redknapp, Merson etc, the fans are almost always right if they simply say the opposite.

Don't think so. We have just signed a couple of talented South Americans. Would rather give them a chance

You guys need him. Can see an improved offer coming in.

So you shouldn’t have any issue of selling Antony in the last minute then since you have replacement already. Just accept it the offer. €90m is enough.

One is a dutch player who already played for Ajax and one is a player who played few senior games all over the place and none of the teams wanted to keep him with questionable mentality. I would even bet that based on this alone Brobbey ends up having a better career than Amad if he doesn't get a grip and works hard enough..

Ajax are a great club and should be respected. I hate it when United fans behave arrogantly towards others. Show some humility and let's just hope we meet their asking price

Absolutely. What would they say? More CL, more Ballon dor winners, more golden boy winners, more international titles all while not having the huge edge Manchester United has post 1997 Bosman.

United definitely are doing it the like they intented to, I'm sure battling it out with Newcastle United for top 6 in 2023 is the way of a 'proper' football club.

Something like that?
Or just call Scholes a bit of a doofus?

Scholes is a bit disrespectful, but there's no universe where playing for Ajax now would be better for a footballer than playing for United. Ajax play in a much much weaker league, and accordingly pay lower wages. Granted it's an iconic Club, but so is Benfica or Rangers. Playing in the CL this season is nothing to shout about since a lot of clubs from weaker leagues get to play there too. But for footballers the ambition is to play for a top club in a top league, the impact of this is massive. They get so much more exposure and much more money. It's a no brainer.

Amad only went on loan once at one club. That Dutch player wasn’t wanted by RB Leipzig.

They are not ready yet but neither is Amad.
Look at it From Ajax's point of view. We have a new manager same as United. United took our manager
United take our best defender
Bayern take our second best defender and our best midfielder
Now United want our best attacker.
We need to give our new manager a fighting chance

Yes, it all sounds rather reasonable, doesn't it?
Good heavens!

you’ll still walk the league and have insane funds for him to build his own squad.

Not sure we we will walk the league without Antony. We have lost quality players and Feyenoord, PSV and AZ have all strengthened

I'd say Ajax is a good football club with great history, but lets be honest, they are not in a proper league for top players.

Scholes is a bit dim. Total genius on the pitch but not the sharpest otherwise.
