The fact most of our main links are to current or former ajax players is unsurprising I suppose but I do slightly worry about how these players will fare in the pl. I can't think of the last time a former a ajax players has excelled in a fop league and de ligt, de jong and ziyech have been pretty meh

You don't win titles with 11 parks, you need a couple of maestros in the middle and upfront so that the remaining parks can serve their purpose.

Antony and Sancho on the wing to provide assists for Ronaldo and Bruno to score goals. And then you have FDJ and VDB who can retain possession in midfield. We just need full fit Luke Shaw of 20/21 season and centre backs with pace and aggression to win duels but still good on his feet and progressing the ball and I think our outfield 10 players would look good on paper for ''next season''.

An FDJ/VDB two man midfield would be a disaster.

If that happens in the Dutch league we can triple it in the PL where defenders are a lot tighter and tougher. I hope he's not like Memphis who didn't have that acceleration to get a few yards on defenders and hence was a useless dribbler. From the clips Antony looks much quicker.

A few years ago when the Sancho transfer speculation was in overdrive, there was a few of us who mentioned the name of Federico Chiesa who was at Fiorentina at the time and he wasn't putting up impressive numbers like Sancho was at BvB, but his ability on the ball was there for all to see. He also played the game with a real intensity with and without the ball, which was noticeable and something which is required in teams today who want to play high intensity football, especially high intensity football in a compact high block.
I see some similarities between Antony and Chiesa when it comes to applying themselves both with and without the ball. And I think that physical intensity along with Antony's explosivity over the first few yards and his natural ability on the ball make him a player who I feel we should sign.

Depends on which type of whiny / niggly bastard he is. If it's the Suarez type then footballing wise its a positive.
It seems Antony works very hard off the ball so he's hardly a lazy oaf himself. What he would need is an attacking RB who can genuinely be a threat as opposed to rubbish players like Dalot and AWB

I personally think if you play those two, Bruno has to be dropped to accommodate a DM or CM. Bruno for all his stats causes the biggest issue for how we play. He’s forever too high up the pitch for someone playing a midfield role.

For us Antony is a natural fit in a position where we require a player of his profile, which would provide a better balance for the team. I think he has the potential to be a better player than Luis Diaz who Liverpool signed from Porto, and is over 3 years younger.
Antony and Frenkie de Jong would be fantastic signings for us, and we can then supplement the two by potentially adding a few value signings.
That's a good insight into the player. Can drop to create the space and pull the defender with him, can play as a traditional or inverted winger. A bit hit and miss but he kept persevering in a high pressure game and kept his head. Some of those basics were not being shown by our current mob last season
Agree with this. We don't have anyone in the squad who's happy to stretch teams on the right hand side and we haven't for a long time.
I also don't think we should place much value on versatility, particularly with players in other leagues. What seems to happen is they come to the PL and we find that there is actually one position where they are markedly better - in our case that usually ends up being the left wing!
