Zero resale value for them; he’s 30 this season. ‘In his 20’s’ for half a year and a bit. Absolutely not the Ajax model

Not every player has to have "re-sale" value, even for Ajax. They spent a lot on Daley Blind when he was a similar age to Ziyech. Tadic as well was 28/29 I think.

If they sell Anthony to you lot then that's more than 200 million on income from transfers this summer. 25-30 mil would get it done for Ziyech.

90m euros rejected for Antony? WOW! Who would have thought 2 months ago? I was sure we would get him for 60m.

All players should be pushing for reasonable buyouts from now on.

Antony is going to leave this summer or next, he's been pretty open about playing at a bigger club.

This summer they will receive a massive amount, more than what the player is worth, next summer it will be less than what United are currently offering and they have to keep an unhappy player for another year.

It's within their best interests to sell him now, go out and buy someone like Gakpo for £50m then rinse us again in a couple of seasons for him, or worst case sell him on for way less in 4 seasons or so.

There's nothing wrong with them re-signing Ziyech, he's not that old and he's probably a better player now than when he left. Whatever they pay for him will be a good deal and there's very little risk of him leaving or not fitting into their system.
This is not how I see it; he has a storming World Cup and things change dramatically from what they are now. If he is the player some believe, who is on his way to being world class, then that process could be expedited this season if it turns out to his breakout one.

Your last paragraph simply suits us, not them. It’s a terrible deal for them, objectively speaking.

Another one bites the dust. Memphis and/or Gakpo it is then.

feck Ajax - although they are probably comparable to United when Ronaldo wanted to join Madrid in '08.

This is like Madrid offering 250m for Ronaldo back then

Ballon d’or bonuses coming in 3…2..1..

I'm speculating here, but I reckon Ajax have already communicated to us what would be an acceptable bid, and we've launched this one which is slightly under what they were asking for. Hence the very quick refusal. We're in the last stages of the deal, in my opinion. We'll give one more bid, which is what Ajax are asking for, and it'll be accepted.

I still think we'll get it done, but it's absolutely ridiculous how much we're going to end up paying. Ajax are tarnishing their reputation with this and I hope young talents think twice about using them as launch pad to other clubs.

Fancy turning down 90m for a player nowhere near worth that. Bonkers.

Ajax could buy a replacement winger for £10 and half a meat pie that would dominate most teams in that league. I don't think it's about money for them at this point.
They've sold a lot of players and the fans can't be pleased, so they are digging their heels in. They don't even need the money as they are already one of the richest teams in the league.
It's not like they want it to buy a top replacement for the champions league campaign as they never spend big money and don't have the pull versus other top teams anyway.
I reckon they could take any half decent winger from one of the smaller clubs for a couple of million and at least quadruple his value in a year.

Fack I really want him now. I have a feeling he'll reach a Mahrez level at a minimum
Hope we go in with a 3rd thats a bit closer to the 100m EUR

He will never play for them again. Probably :nervous:

What more can he do to push for this move, after not being in the squad last weekend really thought this would get done. Absolute BS if this slowed down just because we beat the scousers.

A British journo will come out with a softer explanation within an hour im sure.

Maybe a nice explanation

Ultimately, I think he'll end up as a United player. They know that we're desperate and willing to pay the astronomical fee, and they also have a player on their hands who absolutely doesn't want to be there. The only thing on that last part is that the World Cup is coming up, so I can't see him properly throwing his toys out of the pram. But still, they would be fecking nuts to turn this down.

Ajax are kinda shooting themselves in the foot. We are giving them crazy money and Anthony will surely not bring that kind of money next summer. Also, one of their favorable qualities for players is that, while they demand decent fees, they don't usually stop players from moving. Some future signings may think twice knowing that the club will stand in the way of move to a bigger club even when a high bid is presented.

He could do but the odds of him having a storming world cup in a team with Neymar and other big names are slim. He needs to leave Holland to prove he's world class, the league isn't up to a standard where he'll ever be considered that level no matter how well he does, so therefore always a risk.

Someone needs to have a word with Ajax's directors and officers and remind them of their fiduciary duty to the club.

Huh. We've made 2 bids, of huge value. And you're still putting this against the club thinking we are slowing down because of a win against Liverpool?
