This guy is going to take shithousing to a level Fernandes can only dream of. If he gets his game together to go with it, his antics are gonna have oppos HATING him.

The best thing is the amount of free kicks he's going to win near oppo boxes, and United have Eriksen and Bruno to take them.

He was nervous and you could tell. Should only improve from here

Thought he looked alright, but the goal was really well taken. Showed the importance of having a lefty on the RW. Can’t wait for him to his form and start taking people on.

Quiet overall but you can't really ask for much more considering he just joined 3 days ago. You can see what he's going to bring once he's settled in, we finally have an actual right winger.

He will be annoying to watch sometime but his potential is huge! That moment he got two opposition players pushing him to the corner but he still managed to spread the ball to Dalot who has found himself with the huge space to make a cross.
Let’s forget his inflated price tag, and instead, watch his development and integration in the team.

Lovely finish. You'd expect that to go in but it was still composed. That's where a left footer is so valuable, it made it very simple.

His overall game was obviously quiet. Ran into a blind alley once. Mainly looked for the safe option. But I was encouraged we found him in space because traditionally we have been left side dominant.

I thought he was brilliant today. His first taste of the Premier League was against an unbeaten side, and he got to experience the thrill of playing at OT and scoring on his debut. Imagine if he'd have come into the side that got worked at Brighton. The perfect debut. He's tough, he's tenacious, he has skills, and he is already fighting for the shirt. This player went on strike to force the move, and it's players like this, players who will burn the fecking house down for United, that we want. Absolutely stoked to see him score on his debut. He will be brilliant for us.

Boy has ice running in his vains, the way he took that goal was nothing short of breath taking.

Nice finish and great celebration. Glad he got his first goal in his debut, hope this would help shaken off the pressure with such price tag.

I don't think we score that goal with a righted footed RW. The way he curled it was perfect.

Reminds me of the Rojo - Herrera duo.

We’ve not had a modern left footed right sided player for well I can’t actually remember. This could be a game changer for our attacks now.

Had a pretty quiet game other than the goal but it was just his first game. But what stuck me was that he was pretty good defensively too.

Key thing for me is that he was positionally excellent yesterday. Stuck really wide and made it so that the Arsenal defence had to stretch to go and cover him when he got the ball. Although he didn’t do much with it when it came, he did enough to make sure that teams aren’t just going to stick one defender on him and call it quits.

All looking very positive, thought his work rate and fitness was terrific considering he’d not even fully trained since arriving.
He looks as though he’s enjoying being here already and it was a lovely touch when he kissed his shirt badge after the goal and went up to the supporters. Can see him becoming a favourite.

Not to be a party pooper, but he probably burned down the fecking house for himself, rather than for United as such. Not sure I'm happy he's got those kinds of moves im him if things start getting tough at some point.

Looked a bit raw I thought but promising. He needs to keep his temper in check though. I know being fiery adds to his game but he took a swipe at someone at one point and stuff like that can easily get you a red on another day.

Made a chant for him. To the tune of rhythm is a dancer

Rhythm is a dancer Antony dos Santos,
You won’t stop him if you dare,
Came from Sao Paulo,
To be United’s saviour,
Scoring goals from everywhere

I think what I liked most about him was he wasn't just running up blind alleys, he was trying to make sure that we kept possession bar a couple of speculative shots. Once he gets up to match speed, I think he can do even better. Hasn't played regularly since like March I think.

Yeah exactly, he didnt go for a dribble or a solo run just for the sake of it, every time he saw he couldnt do it he'd make a pass, long, short, back, sideways but didnt push for a dribble at any cost.

It obviously didn't look good but the failed curler and lob attempts are positives for me. I strongly believe that wide forwards need to be adventurous and create doubts in the opposition most of the time. These two actions were in my opinion good signs, goalkeepers will have to think twice about stepping far from their line, defenders will have to be very careful with the space they leave behind the defense because Antony likes to pick up diagonal runs and he is willing to shoot from distance. These things are why I loved Robben and Ribéry, Football and top teams lack that profile at the moment.

Impossible to judge his performance yesterday, literally thrown straight to the lions. ETH clearly trusts this guy and to hit that goal so coolly on your debut shows a pretty steely attitude. Fantastic finish.

Saying that, he also has the 'keep ball' mentality, some of his passing and link up play was great. Not bad for a guy who's been here less than a week, imagine what he'll be like when he's settled.

Yep, there was one moment about 10 minutes in when he was trying a dribble, but Arsenal got two men out onto him, he managed to keep the ball and play a little backheel to an open Dalot who could swing a cross in. I'm so used to the ball just going for a goal kick at that moment it surprised me, when it really shouldn't. He was also involved in the build up to our first goal. Didn't try to force it, just kept possession ticking over.

Oh yeah, I don't either. Don't mind a wide player that will mix it up like that. But because of how this place has been for the last couple of years I felt I had to qualify what I said with those two moments.

Honestly I don't like his kissing the badge. Looks so cringe and fake. But I do like his hunger and attitude. A real baller too.

Anyway very good finish he managed to trick Ramsdale to jump to the wrong side. Looked simple but actually not simple at all.

Thrown straight into the fire and left his mark despite Ten Hag stating that he’s missing some power. He had an injury in preseason and then wasn’t training since mid-August so a lot more to come to come and despite that he still showed good defensive intensity.

Took his goal very well with composure. Reminded me of Martial debut. I think we'll enjoy his displays once he gets into the groove. He seems a very determined lad and has an attitude much like Malacia and Martinez.

It's taken many years for the club to realise the need for a left-footed winger on the right. I thought it was to be Sancho.

PS: He seems very short on the pitch.

I reckon he must be 4’, don’t like should have gone for a pl proven player - redcaf

Question.

Antony used to have a thing with Neres, where in there celebration (if one of them scored) they'd run to each other and jump to bash their backs/hips (whatever) together.

I saw by chance him doing this post match yesterday as well, but couldnt see with which player. Anybody knows by chance...?

Apparently, he did a Forrest Gump and kept on running.... didn't bother to change when he went for dinner with his mates:

His celebration at the end, putting 7 fingers up.

Guess we know which number he's got for next season then ;)

No, its for the trolls that said he is not scoring enough, he scored 8 last season so he is showing that, he is only able to score 7 more and thats It. They were right.

Loved seeing him work his socks off defensibly, hopefully him and Dalot can compliment each other well going forward.

Always knew the no.21 shirt was reserved for him
Next season, he'll wear the number 11 as the 21 will be taken :)

My reflection on his performance:

  • Attacking wise was pretty quiet apart from the goal and one or two moments like the back heel and attempted chip.
  • I thought he looked a little bit nervous prior to the goal and tried some stuff that didn't quite come off
  • Defensively I was positively surprised by his work rate and closing down. He seemed to win a fair number of tackles and supported Dalot very well
  • Very composed for the finish, as much as above I thought he was nervous at times the goal was an ice cool finish
For a debut it was very good though. I think we have only seen a small amount of what he is capable of which is great news for the future
