We can't complain about Young. Lets complain about Valencia. I hate the way he keeps possession, always giving us an outlet and restricts the opposition full back from getting forward. What a cnut.

Who was set up quite nicely by Valencia. Put your daggers away.

You misunderstood me, I don't belittle him but if someone "made" the goal it was definitely Rafael. He made the run and asked for the pass and delivered an assists.
Valencia just pass it on to him, a typical run of the mill pass

Wasn't his best performance but he does provide width and control.

One thing that irks me his reluctance to go past a player and put in a decent cross.

In normal circumstances it would have been a fair performance but for someone who's clearly not fully fit and has been lacking confidence it was a big step in the right direction.

Was useful today I thought, poor decision making in attack and a bit poor in attack but still gave us a good shape. Great to see him back though.

Thought he was poor today but didn't hide when things weren't going his way.
Hopefully this will help him get a bit of form, we really play when he performs.

I didn't think he done much to be honest, has had a injury so fair enough but think his form from this season really needs to be stepped up.

The first half he was bright and carried out attack well, but second half e clearly tired out.

Considering he's probably only trained a few days he did very well.

He did very well today. In the first half especially when he and Rafael pounded on Clichy.

He's always been inconsistent. It's the same with Nani and Young. There'll be a point in the season where it's difficult to leave any of them out.

Sorry about that. I was referring to the guys who after a fantastic win, seem like that can't wait to get on here and slate Valencia with idiotic assessments -

Don't suger coat this he was shit. Spoilt every attacking move.

He was clearly a big part of our second goal, made some nice crosses, and had some good moments.

Thought he was decent but effective in the first half but utterly useless in the 2nd. Should have come off much sooner than he did.

Yeah, agree with Carl there. Decent game from him specially in the first half. Had a wank second half. We need Nani fit asap and Valencia to get some time off to work on his confidence and game.

Strange. I didn't think he was bad at all. This was a clear improvement on some of his recent performances. He was taking players on again and delivering crosses when he could. We kept feeding the ball out to the right wing because he was doing something right.

I think he's being harshly treated by some. He wasn't at his best, but the number of times he stretched the play and put them on the back foot was fantastic. He looked knackered with half an hour to go but still worked his socks off.

I thought he came back and picked up where he left of which was being frustrating. I guess we have to give him some leeway as we can't say how much the injury is doing to him, but I wouldn't say he's working as hard as Young and today Young was also a much better attacking outlet. Hopefully he still needs some healing time, because given he sees so much of the ball his hesitance is costing us some good positions atm.

He did well simply by being on the pitch. With two men on him, space opens up for others.

Yes, but he does lose the ball often in those situations, and tends to run into a blind alley rather than play the ball to a red shirt. City had him sussed today. I thought Young showed far more nous today than he's done for a while. That said, I do think Tony's playing his way back from a run of bad form as well as injury so we should stick with him for now, seeing as Nani is still missing. What's the latest on him by the way?

He was good and bad today i thought.

He was really good at attacking Clichy and creating space for others. He was really bad at putting the final ball in.

He was pretty bad today. Didn't work for him at all. He has not recovered yet so he'll raise his game in the coming weeks undoubtedly.

Our judgement over his performance have to take into account he just came back from an injury and it was a derby. It wasn't just another PL match, it was Man City at their home ground in an intense match.
More than happy with his performance all things considered

At the end of the day his simple, predictable game was at the heart of our success in today's game and numerous games v Chelsea. That constant width (does anyone else in the league provide it?) and threat on the break creates a real problem for the opposition fullback and his diligent tracking back completely nullifies any attempt to stretch the team and attack us in the wide positions. With fullbacks being so key in so many top teams nowadays he provides us with a simple but devastating tactical weapon.

He clearly played on with an injury today so hopefully he gets a rest for the Sunderland game and comes back in top form over the Christmas period.

I think that he played much better than in some of the last games he played. He's really one of the few players who always comes stronger after the injuries.

I've never seen anyone so one footed, I'm not expecting Ronaldo like dexterity but he steadfastly refuses to even touch the ball with his left.

His ability will always be capped whilst that's the case.

Agreed, i still think Nani is the better player because of this, but he is still a great option when on top form.

Well said mate. Even when he doesnt play great we look a lot more dangerous when he is on the pitch

Edit. This was at brwneds post

My take as well. Very frustrating when he ends up standing still and staring into the fullback, or when he fecked up his corss, let alone when the ball is onto his left foot and ends up doing something diabolical. But kept them on their toes, created tons of space and overall helped us control proceedings for the most part.

It irks me when he's running forwards with the ball and we're on the attack...and then he just stops. And plays a pass backwards.
