He got injured on Sunday but only left on crutches today? Did it take them 2 days to work out he's injured or did he aggravate that injury in training?

Either way our injury situation is fecking ridiculous. Every season we hope we don't suffer with injuries but it seems to get worse everytime.

I might be wrong but I don't think the players train the next day after the match, which would mean Valencia came on training on Tuesday, when his injury must have been found by the staff. I could be wrong though.

This would be a real blow. Bigger than Vidic for me. He's basically been our only consistent attacking outlet this season while we try and get our new players to gel. Going to have to depend on a terribly out of sorts Nani now and our usual "no one's really playing on the left flank" trick.

He's been consistent at being disappointing in every game. Not been in form at all imo. Might force us to drop wingers and play 4-3-3 which is all good as I think that'll help our CM issue anyway.

As much as I rate Valencia I don't see how this is as big a blow (or bigger) than losing Vidič.
Vidič is our rock at the back, and when fit is the best defender in the game, while we're also dealing with injuries to Jones and Smalling at CB and I can only hope Rio wasn't hurt by that knock.
While on the other hand Valencia in all honesty hasn't gotten off to the greatest of starts, and as a matter of fact compared to last year's brilliance so far his performances this year have been somewhat lackluster. Not to mention we've got quite a lot of cover up front.

I think it is just his final ball that has lacked a little this year.

Valencia has been very poor this season so performance wise it's not that huge a loss but in terms of depth in that position, it's a mess.

Remember last season? Deja vu. He will come back in January and will be like a "new signing". Will be in fantastic form from then onwards.

Valencia plays shit: "He's not been at his best but he'll improve."
Nani plays shit: "Sell the fecker, he's a frustrating joke of a player and I've had enough of him!"

Or:

Valencia plays shit: too predictable and one-footed.
Nani plays shit: still the most exciting player at United, talented, needs to be given a free role.

His performances may not have been great but he's been our only out and out winger. It's an underrated quality. We're going to have to start playing people out of position now to make up for his loss.

That is just ridiculous, I don't know whether I should cry or laugh. For starters, the whole fecking squad has performed below par, secondly, Valencia is one of the lads who's done less so.

I'm with Maciek on this one. Regardless of how poor Nani plays, even during extensive periods, he's apparently still one of he world's best players and the first name on the team sheet. Coming to think of it, the poorer Nani plays, the more people want him in the team, the law of averages?

Valencia has been very poor mate. But fair play to him, a brilliant run against Liverpool really saved his performance and won us the game.

It's obviously still a huge loss, as with nearly all of our players, they are just finding their feet into the new season and will hit form soon enough.

He's not been very poor. He had one awful match against Gala, but other than that he's been ok. Our whole attacking four apart from few moments from brilliance have been average.

One extreme to the other, never get people crying out for Valencia to be sold though :)

I don't think you'll find many with that view really.

Nah, Tony is usually consistently good and his crossing is usually spot on but he hasn't really had any good games this season yet., and as someone pointed out above, he's only had a single shot so far.

Nani and Young are both full on wingers too, this idea that because they don't hog the touchline all the tme they're more so "inside forwards" (or whatever you want to call it) is tiresome. Not to mention that Valencia cuts inside for us a lot more than he used to, when he was on fire at the back end of last season he was constantly doing so.

He's not though, he's been one of our most consistently poor performers, which is annoying, cause he's usually one of our consistently best. He just hasn't been quite as shit as Nani so far and therefore isn't bearing the brunt of the criticism.

Since when? Most on here agreed after the Everton match that he deserved to be dropped. Maybe that perception is given because he's dropped more than Valencia is and therefore the argument comes up more.

These alleged Ghosts of Carrington seem to focus on anyone with a V in their name. Cleverley, Vidic, Evans, Da Silva.

Just for the hell of it we should get the players to change their names and see what happens.

Liverpool? He was pretty awful there but people seem to be coating it because of that good run for the penalty, which he actually made the wrong decision for at the end but was saved by a silly tackle by Johnson and a dive.

Which in the end turn out to be the match winner, in any case. If that was Nani making the run people would have been saying "He's out of form, but he's capable of making a contribution out of nowhere".

Also our attacking four was poor against Liverpool. The first half performance by the team was so poor, then I'm going to remove that half from my memory.

The first point is true yes, but I think everyone is agreeing that he did win us the game with the run.

How can you remove it? You said his only awful game was against Gala, but he was awful against Pool too, no point in sugarcoating that. You certainly haven't removed how shit Nani was from your memory, that's for sure.

I was only kidding. But overall he hasn't been consistently poor. He's been average just like the rest of his team in attacking sense, the team hasn't clicked.

Edit: Just saw your edit. Honestly just because someone doesn't think that sun shines out of Nani's arse(like you), doesn't mean they've an agenda against him.

I disagree, the relatively poor performance of the whole squad might taint your judgement. Below is breakdown of our best performers:

Valencia is placed 6th within the squad, Nani in comparison, is 16th. In theory that wouldn't even be enough to place him on the bench based on the highly sophisticated EA SPORTS Player Performance Index (PPI).

I don't even know what half of those stats are, but the mere fact that Evra is fourth is enough to convince me they're a load of shite.

It has already been established that Evra is subject to overly harsh critisism on here. Judging by stats, which is the most objective approach imo, he is our best tackler and the defender with most key interceptions.

Problem is Young is out injured and Nani is even more out of sorts/favour than Valencia. We're going to miss him a hell of a lot if he's out for long. People will only realise this when it happens.
