6 years living in the country and he is still struggling to speak a bit of english? anyway who cares as long as he keeps on producing this kind of performance for us.:)

BEAST

Think the fact that he is a such a quiet person actually works against him in this case...a bit more outgoing/social and he probably would have a much better handle of the lingo.

Yeah didn't want to be negative in this thread given how good he was last night, but he should really have learnt the language by now.

Well Ronaldo's was a brilliant individual effort from the halfway line and Valencia's was a speculative punt with the keeper out of position.

If i recall, it was a brilliant run with a deflected shot by Ronaldo.

Valencias goal was speculative but Ronaldo's goal had elements of luck to it as well.

His goal was a corker the way it rocketed in, sure it was a hopeful effort but if you don't buy a ticket you can't win as they say. It was as if he was sick of no one getting onto all his quality crosses so he decided to have a dig.

Played well. If only he learned to use his left foot.

As far as the goal goes, I agree with Gary Neville - Tony's body shape when hitting the ball didn't look like he was trying a cross. He had his head down and was clearly striking the ball with power.

I think fergie's clearly banned him, it would just be unfair on the league.

Amagine him having step overs and nanis left foot

Seriously, just how good would this guy be if he could actually use his left foot? He's virtually unplayable at the minute as it is. Some Rocky style switch-hitting training in pre-season?

I think his education wasn't great living in the area that he did so it's understandable that people like Valencia and Tevez struggle with it. And some people just find it harder to learn languages than others. Wouldn't be surprised if he understands English well but he's just a bit shy, seemed that way in the interview.

Earlier on in this thread Bilbo (I think?) was laughed at for suggesting that Valencia might be our best winger. I wonder how laughable that suggestion is now?

Right now he is, but y'know, the other has been injured.

It's a bit annoying that we very rarely get to see both of them playing together for consistent spells. One of them always seems to be injured. Valencia and Nani playing together consistently would be ridiculous.

What a goal last night. I don't think anyone saw it coming. Absolute bullet of a shot.

That is exactly what I thought, he seemed to understand the question with no problem, he is probably just lacking in the confidence to converse on television in English.

Part of the reason why he barely ever uses his left foot is because he has a very special ability of using the outside of his foot when running with the ball, moreso than any other player I can remember seeing. He very often passes and crosses with the outside as well, which is highly unusual, but it severely increases the variety of situations in which he can successfully use his right foot.

It looks unusual, but it works very well for him. Obviously he would be more complete player if he had a more competent left foot, but I reckon the effects of it would be lesser for him compared to other one-footed players.

Just a joy to watch when he's on form like this. One of the best players in the league since the turn of the year, no question about it. Glad to see the fact is being recognized by pundits and press as well!

Nice to see him dedicating yesterday's goal to his former manager at El Nacional, Dragan Miranovic

Miranovic coached various Serbian clubs before moving to Ecuador where he gave Valencia his first professional contract at El Nacional

Compare his game to his first season, and for me there's no doubt he's a much more well rounded winger. He's as dangerous cutting inside now as he is getting around his full back and get the cross in. It's clear to me he's worked on his game. He's become a creative passer, his variety in crossing and the choices he makes have improved tenfold.

And on current form, if he's not one of the best wingers in world football, I think it's absolutely certain to say he's one of the very most effective. Love him, beast of a player, and puts a hell of a shift in defensively as a nice bonus. The perfect United-winger?

He should be nominated for it to be fair.

He should be nominated, but he shouldn't win it as he's been injured for fair periods of time this season... and frankly, if anyone that's not RVP wins it, it'll be a disgrace.

In all fairness, I could care less if he only spoke Ancient Greek, as long as he performs in that shirt of ours ! I'm sure he understands what he needs to.

 PL Player of the Season. FFS, some of you.

In my defence I forgot about van Persie, and it was kind of a heat of the moment-thing, as Rooney over the course of the season surely has contributed more.

But, thinking about it, he's as deserving as someone like Silva, possibly more as he's done it when it matters. It woiuldn't be outrageous to nominate him for PL player of the season, in fact I'd expect him to be nominated judging by the season as a whole. That kind of productivity and sheer entertainment value doesn't go unpraised.

wonder how many crossed tony had last night ! hugged the touch line and wa given the ball so many occasions and that strike

has a great understanding with rafael :D

Attempted 21 of which 6 found the right recipient.

I wouldn't even expect him to get into the team of the year.....due to the brilliant nominating system, he's hit form too late.
