Not really, I'm of the opinion that Nani will not be better than Rooney, I'm not claiming to know the future.

People saying otherwise, IMO, is overrating Nani. Get it?

How can you overrate a player you havent seen yet? In this case Nani version two years time. For all we know Rooney could have retired by then.

Its ridiculous.

I'll show you:

'Jordan Henderson will be better than Jack Wilshere in two years'.

Clearly overrating Henderson and his potential.

Going by your logic, I can get away with saying that I will be better than Messi in three years. Let me tell you, you don't need to be able to predict the future to know that isn't true, and that I'm probably overrating or overestimating my own abilities. Probably.

True but I think when it was majorly being discussed, it spanned a good chunk of time where you could assess each player's contribution to the team.

And even for those who thought Nani was the better player, I'm saying I can see how it wasn't the most outlandish thing to say. From what I remember, Rooney wasn't in the greatest vein of form and Nani certainly was. I would say he was pretty devastating and some of his performances were top class. One of those players who on form, I really find exciting to watch.

What I have to say about Rooney though is while he may not be the most technically gifted, he has consistently improved his game year upon year. the main improvement for me was when he improved his heading. Even though he's lost some of the explosive aspects of his game, his overall effect on the team offsets that.

But like you said this is the valencia thread. We may not see eye to eye but I see where you're coming from. It's all valid.

Sure, to be fair I agree with a lot of that. At the time I thought people were jumping the gun declaring him better than Rooney and I still think so now but I did and always have liked Nani as a player.

Wait, so you're saying that the gulf in talent between Rooney and Nani is the same as between Henderson and Wilshire?

No, though I suspect you know this.

I was illustrating a point and concept he was struggling to understand.

Surely that means the two are entirely unrelated then?

Anyone with half a brain could tell that Henderson will never be better than Wilshire, the same could not be said for Nani and Rooney.

He was arguing with the theory, that you can't judge how good a player will be in the future.

You just illustrated that you can be quite certain about how players will be a couple years from now.

Can't fault you for that. How I wish Nani could have been more consistent. I'll be sad if we sell him. Reminds me of Kanchelskis in a way. Mainly in the sense of "if only, if only"

Silly post.

So Tony V. has been in a real bad patch of form - hopefully against Newcastle he'll finally find the player we all know and love. With Young finding some good form, Valencia on the other wing right now playing even a little better will really make us a handful going forward.

Go for it man - just go for it tomorrow.

No I didn't.

So apparently you're not allowed discuss who might be the better player between what was at the time, our two best players, in a few years. Moronic.

I never knew that Henderson was as good as Wilshere. He has been hiding his talent once again under the proverbial bushel. No, it is silly to compare Rooney/Nani to Henderson/Wilshere.

We know that Wilshere has the talent, whereas Henderson has never had any talent whatsoever. Rooney and Nani are talented players, but Nani would shade it as far as technical ability is concerned.

Against Newcastle, hopefully he wont be in the team.

Some of the posts in the last few pages of this thread are fecking pathetic, not to mention completely off topic and nothing to do with Valencia.

Some of you need to seriously grow up.

That's exactly what I was arguing against if you had actually read what was going on.

I was saying you can discuss who will be better in two years, Ekeke was saying you can't. I'm pretty certain it will be Rooney.

Welbeck, Giggs or Hernandez in the team instead.
Welbeck would be the best option out of those three on the wing IMO. However, it's debatable rather he would be any more effective than Valencia currently is. I can't remember the last time he had a good game out wide.

Against a good Swansea side, Valencia found it difficult to get past the last man. Here is hoping that he gets through tonight and provides some telling crosses for both Rooney and RVP, as we know he can. He just needs a confident booster and tonight could be good for him. Valencia will provide at least 2 assists tonight.

His best game in ages for me, ok first half but looked full of confidence in the second. Set up Van Persie's goal with a great ball.

I thought he was very good in the second half. Really turned it on. Assisted RVP's goal and put in a peach of a ball for Chicho.

Yeah I thought he had a good second half as well. Should have been sent off though.

He carried a threat today for the first time in a long time it seems. Still a long way from what we need/expect from him but hopefully this is a sign that he is getting there.

That cross for Hernandez was fantastic though... and he even tried to cross with his left...

He was decent at worst. Stop bashing Valencia after every fecking final whistle, it is getting frustratingly tedious to be honest.

I agree. When we were in the dogs, he looked like a man on a mission, determined to pull us out of it. We needed that today.

He's still nowhere near his best but that was his best showing for weeks. Never say die attitude perfect for that sort of game too. Start him vs West Brom as well to let him play through it.

Definitely a lot more of the great old Valencia.Specially in the second half, he was crossing the ball so well and creating space for himself.
It hasn't never been about doubling him up or defenders 'figuring him out', he's just been in such a bad form in recent months.
This was a lot more like it from him

What game were you watching? He put in two good crosses, one was the header for Chicharito and the other for the RVP goal. Thats it, he was awful the rest of the way.

I thought there were positive signs from him today. Looked to attack his man and put in a good cross.

As before though his pace has never been the issue in this poor run, when he's had space to attack his man or run in to he's shown he can, his problem is when there isn't that space and that's what he still needs to work on. Also think that at times he was a little slow to anticipate stuff and so ended up not being able to make the most of situations. Needs to take a chance to move in to space a bit more.

Still some positive signs.

He was diabolical in the first half and good towards the end. Showed some passion for fecks sake.
