Did he Really? We'd all like to think that our Primary target was him but I think Jose's Primary target was a pure no 9, Physical target like Lukaku who could fill Ibrahimovic's place as he really needs a physical target up front. I have rarely seen his team play a more dynamic movement fluid way up front that and once Lukaku became available to us with Rooney going the other way we completed that deal over Griezmann. I think its widely known that we work on multiple targets under Mourinho and sign those who are available and the managers primary target and if not than we move down the list.

The press feeding the club gave strongly supports this. However we still kept our interest in him after last year but our priorities may have changed after the season.

So, let me get this right. He arranged a press conference specifically to announce the "decision" he has made on his future, then he announced this was neither the time or place to discuss this? What a silly boy

Assuming we are his destination, we still have to make a deal with Atletico. See our Herrera deal for instance. It's not as easy as paying the clause and saying he is ours. For Zlatan's case, there was no need for us to negotiate with PSG since his contract with them was running up.

Griezmann says he has made a choice but it was not the right time or place to say it. Makes it seem like he is most likely leaving, whether to Barca or us. Expect to see more rumours swirl as we approach his July 1st buyout clause reduction.

Release clauses was changed in Spain after the herrera deal I believe.

Yeah. Pay the sum of the clause, trigger it automatically. Even if the league tries to bitch about it like they did with neymar, you just send it via online transfer instead of crrying the check to the offices. There's nothing they can do

The only change was spanish tax authority making it clear that the money paid to trigger the clause will be considered as a transfer fee rather than counted against the player's personal income tax

Only the tax part has changed, you still have to give the money in one installment which most clubs won't do for sums like 100m.
 
1. From my understanding both United and Barcelona end their fiscal year in end of June. (A side note, that’s probably the reason we haven’t officially announced Fred.) If Greizmann will leave Atletico his transfer will be finalized in July if my theory is correct.

2. Another stumbling block is the transfer involving Lemar. If AM is in the final stage of that transfer then it would be unwise to tell the world that Greizmann is leaving.

3. I expect him to go to Barcelona. Its weird. The timing (going to Barca) doesn’t make sense. They have Messi, Dembele and Suárez up front. Coutinho. I don’t see where he will fit in and who’s going to step back if he’s going to play. Even if Suárez and Messi is on decline they are both superstars with ultra big egos. Dembele is a huge investment. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Once again o don’t believe he will come to us but.... a transfer (to us) makes sense. We need a player like him. On a economical point of view I’m sure he will benefit more going to United then staying in Spain. But. Again. My understanding is that he will stay in Spain, probably Barcelona bound.

So let’s put any hope to bed before I get exited.

He's buying time alright.
I think he is arranging a new contract with AM or even with Barca and dealings have not yet been concluded.
The other thing was that he was never going to announce a transfer/move in a press conference. I don't think that's ever happened in a big money transfer, in the history of football, before.
It's the clubs who announce these things, not the players.

It's crazy that anybody would believe that he is joining MUFC, after he snubbed us last year, in preference for a renewed, bigger contract from AM.
 
Did anyone see the rest of the presser? Griezmann was asked about why he always trained along Pogba. He went on to say like how they were good pals etc and was beaming by the end of his reply. Agent P doing his magic again?

Why do all the people, who believe that this transfer won’t happen or say they won’t be drawn in, comment in the thread? You just take up thread space and no value to the thread! At least if your for or against the transfer, you add something.

And all the one’s who keep saying he’s attention seeking etc etc, you guys are the ones who feed the attention. So if you feel so strong about his “attention” seeking tactics, don’t feed it!

Really don't know what to make of all this crapola.

He's an attention whore, huge ego and a bit of a princess. Do I think He'll come to United? Nah, probably not, but there is a slim chance.

Would I be happy if he did join United? Dunno, I'd probably feel like when someone is handing you a package, but taking it away at the last second, doing that a few times, smiling and laughing then eventually giving you the package and you turn and walk off. Not much emotion, fed up of the shit.

He only snubbed us last year because of Atletico’s transfer ban. I think the deal pretty much hinged on that.

Once the ban was confirmed, there was no way Griezmann was coming unless Atletico really wanted to sell him which they didn’t as they wouldn’t have been able to bring in a replacement.
 
Did he actually come out and say he would announce his future today? Or was somebody speculating knowing he had a press conference today?
Either way, if he ends up with us, I don't care about his antics at all
 
He is a bit of twat. Just repeating he's not gonna make a decision over and over again. I dont know how he can decide to stay there after all this.

-Griezmann to Barcelona
-Dembele to PSG
-Neymar to Real Madrid
-Ronaldo to PSG
-Bale to United ;)

Atletico would replace Griezmann with Lemar and Cavani.
Barcelona would have Griezmann instead of Dembele.
Real Madrid would get Neymar + a ST (Icardi/Werner/...) and sell Ronaldo + Bale
PSG would change Neymar-Cavani for Ronaldo-Dembele
We will get Bale.

P.S. Not even in FIFA :lol: but it wouldn't be a bad idea.
 
Griezmann to United is definitely a huge possibility now that Lemar has joined Atletico. Griezmann to Barca makes no sense at all given that they have Dembele.

If it doesn't work out I think we should all blame @gr3yham3 :p for giving us (me) hope and keeping this thread alive.
 
Much as he's likely not joining us, I like him, & think he'd fit right in, sadly I think we're going all in for Bale instead.

What about in the short term? Would Dembele sit on the bench ? Don't see him being happy with that role. Suraez got 26 goals last season, hes far from being a spent force just yet.
