@Lawman Why couldn't you answer like this in the first place instead of trying to wind me up with my mental health? Being mentally ill shouldn't be an insult.

"Champs manager and FIFA has a lot to answer for FFS. Anybody who thinks that is how a team is run needs their head examined."

You take that quote as a slant on you being mentally ill? I have no words other than man up! @bucky

Would like to see us go in hard for Griezmann and Verratti next summer, they would really get us back among the elite and both classy as feck.

If you do go diamond, you need really talented wing backs and Auerier/Bernat are the only two I can think of who could possibly be tempted off the top of my head.

But either way even if we just got Griezmann, if we used that template and used Valencia.. we could be fine. PL is getting tougher and will get tougher next year, so we do need to do something drastic tactically and bring in big players in terms of talent to catch up to the other sides.

Well, yeah, with unlimited funds you would look at the wingbacks as well. I'd argue the priorities would be Griezmann, Verratti (or that other chap people rave about but I haven't seen at all), and a ball-playing defender. I love Josema, but I wouldn't have him next to Bailly, too rash a partnership without enough composure on the ball.

Griezmann would be a great signing, and a player that I feel would want to play for the shirt.
Unfortunatly for me, I just don't see him as a Mourinho type striker

I can deal with it, someone else might not. I am merely saying that casually suggesting someone is crazy, about something insignificant like my post, isn't helpful.

For you to highlight it and take it in that context says a lot. Think you maybe took the criticism to heart and that was the real issue.

Buying a feckload of players has never worked for us, why would it work now?

In addition, the midfield is definitely not defensively sound and we'd look almost as bad as we currently do, having to wait for more players to settle in.
It worked for everyone else.

That's going to cost close to £250M?

One might argue that Griezmann is the perfect Mourinho attacker: he's consistently sound rather than flamboyant (which minimizes risk), he doesn't need a great deal of chances to get on the stat sheet (Mourinho likes economized players), and - he's brilliant on and off the ball in terms of movement and defensive workrate:
Griezmann was part of an attacking front three but also was seen dropping deep often and helping defensively, with his work rate and tracking bass praised by Simeone.

"We have a chance to enjoy an impressive player like Griezmann, who also works hard defensively," explained the Argentine.

"That's brilliant, firstly for him but also for the team because if Griezmann works, the rest have to work as well.

"We did hope to do better with our counter attacks in the first half, but we were not able to do it due to our lack of quality with our passing, or maybe due to their high pressure.

"Maybe it was due to our position on the pitch, which was clearly too deep."

Apart from popping up all over the field from his normal forward position (even for France):

He's essentially the next best thing to Thomas Müller for that role in terms of profile, and José would love to get his hands on a player like that. Plus, if you've played for Simeone, then shouldn't have trouble adjusting Mourinho defensive demands (as the attacker).

Would be an excellent Coutinho replacement under Klopp if things turned out that way.

Personally,I don't see how or where he works at United. There is no obvious opening for a player of his type, and I fear it would be a misallocation of resources.

Can't help but think he's a tad over-rated, especially his release clause standing at 100m. What can he bring to us that Mata can't?

Use the 100m and try to get Bale

He just signed a new contract though.

Wut?

People need to get over bale he's just signed a huge contract and it looks like he's keen on finishing his career at R.Madrid

Anyway Griezmann could bring us 20 goals a Season, Mata can't do that

If Griezmann is interested, you make room for him imo, no matter the cost. He just oozes class to me, and he's handsome. He'd look great on promo images along with Blind and Zlatan/Pogba in the middle.

Anyone got any photoshopped Griezmann in United shirt pics? Or any geniuses up for a task?
I'm curious to see what he'd look like in a long sleeve United shirt, my mate thinks he'd look like Beckham

Considering Jose wanted to go for him the season after he won the PL in Chelsea Mk2, I think it's fair to say he considers Griezzy a Mou type striker

Use your imagination. I am sure you can still get hard. ;)

Would love to see this lad playing for us. Woody make it happen you mad cnut!

It was clear for all to see when we played Sociedad back in 2011 that Griezmann was good enough and gave us a torid time. We need to start plucking these players before they become world stars

I was halfway unzipped there until I realised that it was his brother who tweeted that.

Where would we he play him though? And at who's expense? Assuming we were to get him of course

His brother is a united fan too. Hopefully the summer we can give theo a season ticket and Antoine the number 7.

I never knew where this is coming from? Only ever heard about Theo professing his love for United.

Non the less if Atletico doesn't pick up the pace and will end up trophyless I actually see a chance for him moving, especially if Simeone should actually decide to leave in the summer.

Not so sure. He tweeted "Yes Liverpool!" or similar when they beat Dortmund last year so even if he does follow us he's clearly not a huge supporter

He'd either play as the number 10 or as the main striker (maybe from the left in the big games where Jose would want to play 3 in midfield)

Your brothers going to take Rooney's place mate.

False 9. Lets wide players like Martial drift into goal scoring positions and allows a fluid front line

While Antoine may not be a United fan per se, I think he'd definitely be keen on a move if we were to formalise our interest in him.

Yeah Beckham is his football hero as well, safe to say he has a soft spot for us.

If somehow we did get Griezmann could we use him as a 10 in a 4231? Like:

-----------Ibrahimović-----------
Martial --- Griezmann --- Mkhitaryan
--------Pogba --- Carrick--------
---Shaw --- ? --- Bailly --- ?----
-------------De Gea--------------

It's not his ideal position but could we not just treat him as a second striker of sorts? On paper it looks like a heck of a team.

Otherwise if we had to play him as a false #9 I don't see how he and Ibra could be played together. Maybe could put him on the right and Mkhitaryan in the middle as the #10 but still not ideal.
