How fast is this guy anyway?

"Fast" like Depay?
Really fast like Martial?
Or extremely fast like Rashford?

I'm doubling down on Verratti to join Griezmann.

Griezmann Martial Mkhitaryan
Pogba Herrera
Verratti

This would be good. Martial as forward/wing rotation while Zlatan is still around.

I say it's good as if I actually know that much about Griezmann. But i'm happy to get on the muppet train.

Slightly concerned by the comments saying that the wing isn't his best position though. That said, he could play there until Zlatan goes then have the forward spot and Martial stay on the left perhaps (hopefully will be a more consistent winger by then).

This surely has to happen doesn't it? Can't see anything else to make a more perfect checklist even if I try.

Antoine Griezmann

✔️ is French
✔️ is a United lifelong fan
✔️ is David Beckham's biggest fanboy
✔️ is hoping he could play with Pogba at club's level
✔️ is essentially allowed to leave by Simeone

United
✔️ freed up number 7 shirt
✔️ give no shit about money
✔️ fecking annoyingly shite goal celebration

If it falls through, football romance is dead.

Fixed for you

Remember how salty Ballbag was during the Pogba saga? Wouldn't listen to a word he says, in fact if he were to say the deal is done, that's when I'd start getting worried:lol:

Top speed he is slower then all of them. Acceleration he is comparable to Rashford. First 30m he should be clear of any central defender, if he has to run at goal from the middle line, the fastest defenders (like Smalling, Varane) will catch him

He won't outpace quick defenders over a long distance but his acceleration is really good and he's so agile. I'd say his pace is somewhere between Memphis and Martial but closer to Memphis

Could be an interchangeable front 3, especially with all 3 being good goalscorers and Martial/Mkhitaryan both have the pace to stretch the wings.

Are La Liga watchers not a bit worried about this? From having a world class roster of attackers they could lose Griezmann, Ronaldo is on the slide while Suarez and Messi are touching 30.
Some big investement is surely around the corner

"AT THIS STAGE!" erm Guilem nobody said it was. We all know it'll be a summer deal.

Atletico could move in for Dybala if Griezmann goes. Which is probably an improvement.

No and no.
1. Atletico could never attract a player of his stature. He already plays at a club that pays more wages and is more likely to win titles.
2. He is not better then Griezmann, nowhere near him. He can dream of being as good as him in a few years, if everything works well for him.

Isn't he the one that said, Pogba was crying when he couldn't move to Madrid?

His Spain bias is incredible. He was in the PL studio broadcast here in Norway a few months ago and the cringe regarding Pep was unbelievable.

Ballbag is a partisan reporter with partisan sources in Spain. Of course Pogba was crying that he didn't move to Madrid and of course Greizmann won't be leaving the glorious Spanish capital.

He is so far up his backside it is nauseating.

Genuinely don't get this signing at all. He's a mediocre winger, isn't exactly a CF & his best position is as a second striker which means you'll be playing Pogba out of position to fit him in.

I think it's bit early to be making predictions like that, no?
In the last 3 years how much have utd spent? 500m odd and where have we been hovering? 5th-7th in the league. What makes you think utd will suddenly be a force in the future. Utd need time after fergie, bullshit1t. Never seen a team spend so much money and boss 6th place, where as Leicester came out from no where and won the league and look at Chelsea turn it around over summer. The simple answer is Utd spent a fortune over the past 3 years and we should be in the top 4 easily and challenging Chelsea not be 12 points behind

He was busy telling us after Sevilla v Madrid that La Liga was the most competitive league in the world and only France could come close to it's competitivness.
We may all have our own opinions on that but to not even have England in the conversation is a joke.

then why can't he just be Second striker?
So that means you'll have spent a World Record on Paul Pogba promising to build the team around him only to play him out of position? He looks half the player in the pivot as we saw at the Euros & earlier in the season before Carrick's introduction.

Keep attention...don't burst with envy
I'm just curious how you'll deploy him to get the most out of Pogba/Griez that's all. I like Griezmann, rich mans Muller/Alli.

Sorry, why would Pogba be out of position? Pogba does not play as a SS he can still play in Midfield in any position. Also, the fee is completely irrelevant as is the"building a team around" a player approach.

I can think of at least 2 systems, where both could play their best "position" (nothing like that in real football).

Bla bla bla. We are going to play modern football, aren't we?! So what's the problem to play with both Pogba and Griezmann? The players can always rotate during the game however they want and however they feel better. We can start with midfield 3 (e.g. Pogba Carrick Herrera) and still play Griezzi as а No 10. All we need is a healthy and strong Shaw on the left flang. Pogba can also help in this zone during the game. With Mikhi and Mata on the right, Ibra upfront and Rash+Martial and even Lingard and Rooney (if he stays) the team looks very polyvalent and I'm sure Jose will know exactly how to manage the players.
Griezmann is one of the best players in Europe, no doubt, he's going to be a crucial signing.

As much as I love him, we certainly need to prioritise a few other areas first. Defensive minded midfielder (ideally in the mould of Carrick), sort out the left back situation, perhaps another centre-back depending on how the season progresses. We definitely need to be looking at a Douglas Costa type of player in the summer, whether Griezmann is the answer, is another question.

Wouldn't be so sure mate.

RM, Barca and Atletico are all rebuilding their stadia, which will cost a fortune. They don't have a PL-sized television deal or a sugar daddy, and United are well ahead of all of them in terms of sweating their brand and making money out of it.

Perez was able to buy up the world's best players between 09 and 12 (Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Ozil, Di Maria, Alonso) at a total cost of about £250m. But how much would a similar roster cost today? £500-600m probably. And most of the top players are already tied to elite clubs.

Personally I can see the PL dominating La Liga over the next five-six years, as it did in the mid-noughties. But if the Spanish clubs get their own benefactors then maybe they'll be able to keep competing.
