I talked about his position, but knowing that Zlatan is 35/36, Antoine will share the position with him. Once in the right wing like Mata does and coming inside, and sometimes straight behind him.
A team with Zlatan Griezmann Pogba Mkhitaryan, adding a fit Shaw, an attacking Valencia would be ideal too. But if Antoine comes, we'll have to add steel in midfield (to replace Carrick) and in central defense too

I agree with you on the notion that Griezemann would be a vanity buy and we don't really need to buy a second striker, but wouldn't he be the ideal replacement for Wayne Rooney? The way we play now sees Pogba play as a No 10 or as part of a midfield 3. Griezemann's supposed best position would be as a No 10. Assuming Mourinho's long term plan is to have Rashford as the central striker, would mean, our front 6 would look something like this;

Mkhitaryan - Griezemann - Martial

I do agree that he's not what we need as a midfielder is top priority especially if Carrick calls it his time and Schmidfield leave as well. Getting a player to alternate with Rashford is also key like you highlighted, but considering Rashford has mentioned that he would like to play as a No 10 in the future means, Griezemann and him can do a lot of swapping around. The movement the front 4 will offer will be just ridiculously delectable and with Pogba and hopefully a good Carrick replacement, there will be passers in the team who can pick up this movement.

As you can easily see, I am personally torn on this one.

Yeah, that's probably the same set of emotions I am wrestling with. I want him here, but I don't know where he would play and who he would displace. The only position where I think he could play is as a False 9. He has the technical qualities and play-making abilities to do that. But then we can only buy him in 2018 after Ibra leaves.

Since he has been with atletico he has scored 66 goals and assisted 19 times in 128 games which are huge stats and he hasn't always played as a main striker aswell.

He has not only shown himself at Atlético, he was also huge for Real sociedad and he has shown his quality also for the french national team on numerous occassions, easily been their best player on the euros.

How can we possibly overrate him ? Only Ronaldo and Messi have been better and more influential than him in attack.

The midfield control we have been enjoying will be gone once Pogba is pushed further back and we haven't got a proper holder, we paid £89M for a unique player, a #8/#10 hybrid, I can't see the point in not building the team around him and to his strengths, which is having the freedom to drift between the two roles in midfield, not stuck in a double pivot with a #10/SS in his attacking zones.

This. Pogba is an absolute monster and from all accounts getting back to Manchester and playing a major role in the club's success was a goal of his. I can't fathom people wanting to shove him back into a place that weakens both his potential and very likely our team's. There is not another player in the world right now that matches Pogba's qualities, and it couldn't be more obvious that all of his qualities come out in a midfield 3.

Really get the feeling that a lot of people arent entirely sure what type of player he usually is. Think they feel like he would be one who is capable of destroying teams on his own individual skill like Sanchez/hazard are capable of doing or that he can be a top class playmaker when he really isnt the type. On natural ahility he isnt the 3rd best player in the world at all, but he is a really effective player and is by all purposes, a second striker. Obviously would be a class signing but having him would limit us in terms of tactical flexibility as he would be a bit rigid in how we can use him in the premier league.

Buy him. United have a few forward options just now, but bear in mind Ibrahimovic will probably only be here this season and next and Rooney has a question mark over him also. The fact that Griezmann can play anywhere in the attacking positions is a huge asset.

Why the surprise? We do have a tradition at Utd for wanting to see a young footballer develop.

There is also an antipathy to seeing Utd bring in Galacticos. We're not Madridnir do I think we should go down that route

Yep, it would still be a waste of Pogba though, he is a very unique #8/#10 hybrid and the proper 3 man midfield allows him to excel, we paid £89M for hi and should build around that accordingly. If Griezmann can mesh his Real Sociedad qualities with his Atletico ones then maybe he'd work in one of the WF roles, we shall see.
