It's always a true muppet saga when the gifs come out.

So tonight we've learned that Griezmann's advisor has access to his Twitter account. Tomorrow's a new day, boys and girls.

He has denied it has happened . Not that it is happening. He is still a Matteress player and will be speaking with his reps soon.

Didn't his tweet say he's "always a Materess player"?

He would have known that before he made the comments though. Maybe he's not as confident anymore?

Yeah I know, but perhaps it could be something he regrets doing. It would be strange for him to be denying it now, given that we actually have CL factor which was being cited by many as the swaying factor. Could be posting that tweet under advice of his agent as others have suggested.

Now I know this is google translate so it's to be taken with a pinch of salt but it directly translates the tweet as:
"All the rumors are unfounded, I'm still Colchonero. My orientation will be established after discussion with my Sports Advisor"

Again take it with a pinch of salt because one mistranslated word can change the whole context of a whole sentence but it appears going by that he is simply saying despite rumours of the deal being all but done, we have yet to formally activate the buyout clause, and he is an Atletico player at present. The second part suggests he wants to speak with his advisor, which is perfectly logical when considering he said his chances are 6/10. Now that we have CL football (which was probably what he was waiting for), he probably wants a serious discussion about his future.

That tweet doesnt make much sense either way. Griezmann is a sociedad boy, so he has very little attachment to the club. Its not as if Atletico is a club that guarantees success like a super club.

If Griezmann wanted to stay at Atletico forever he'd sign a long contract extension, not tweet that he'll always be an Atletico player. That tweet is just PR nonsense.

depends on if you are a pessimist or an optimist

i am the latter and it translates to " i am still" or a more poetic way like if Paddy Evra said he "always will be a red" even though he left.

The logic is that I think he's better through the middle and far more productive in front of goal there.

I am aware of your opinion, I just don't understand how someone could logically come to that conclusion, at least not with any vehemence. (And, FYI, using a link to 'whoscored' in a debate ALWAYS makes you look bad. Always. Seriously, autism is the business of the NHS, not RedCafe). But, squabbles aside, the point is moot; Manchester United under Jose Mourinho WILL NOT play a 'second striker'. So they will need to play him somewhere else and try and make it work, or not sign him at all. He spent the majority of his career wide right, so that is where he will likely go. It really is that simple.

When players at United (example Pogba) are on social media saying he's coming then he knows he's coming...also Griezmann liked his video. Relax he's joining us no doubt about it

Thats just not true. According to whoscored, he has spent 2127 minutes on the right since 2011/12 in contrast to the 7129 minutes on the left.

Big difference between 'always' and 'still', though. And "tojours" mean always.

It doesn't mean anything actually. People are over thinking into this trivial thing. Whether he said "still" or "always", this tweet has nothing to affect the transfer.

This is just some routine talking by a player.

I included it just to an idea of his stats for each position, since that's what we are discussing. He played out wide a lot at Sociedad but he's a very different player now. I'm not getting into semantics over the while SS/No.10/AM position, but we've played with a player behind Zlatan/Rashford a lot this season. Rashford and Lingard did it well against Chelsea.

I don't care what you want to call the position but Griezmann will play it, behind a striker. In the bigger games we'll go 433 and try him both on the right and as a striker. All my opinion, of course. But we'll be looking to him to replace Zlatans goals and i don't think he will do that from out wide.

He won't sign before the US tour. What other reason will Ed have to return to Manchester during the tour?

My direction will be established after discussion with my consultant sports

Which he is talking about Olhats, his adviser who was on record last fecking month saying that we contacted them first and have shown the most interest in Griezmann. You think Olhats is going to advise him to stay at Atletico who hasn't won anything since he has been there or go play for a club that has just won 3 trophies in the last 2 seasons, has CL football and happens to be the biggest club in the world and has his mate Pogba, oh and can beat any wage Atletico would offer.

This is the equivalent of that gif where the monkey grabs the dog's tail then runs off. You started this you silly French sausage.

Plus, Mourinho denied he wants to sign Silva, but said he doesn't want to talk about Griezmann as it is disrespectful to Atletico.. Said that last season re Pogba

No pressure then... comparing him with the best player ever... :nervous:
I didn't read Messi anywhere in that.
He's on about the glorified Chicharito that happens to be the 4th best player in the world.
