What do think of the (supposedly) imminent signing of Anthony Martial?

Yes, Martial was LvG's surprise striker all along.

I hope not. Let's not forget we might be selling Hernandez too. I think a striker would be perfect. Who that is, I'm not sure. It would be a risk to show him up top

why?

LVG has already indicated we have been watching him for a year. Indications are someone else was making a move for him, similar to Depay. So we got him.

People just going on about panic buying, when Monaco still had a chance of CL so probably would not have sold.

Monaco deciced to sell more important players than Martial way before any CL playoff tie (Abdennour and Kondogbia). Watching him for a long time should have us go for him a lot earlier.

The meltdown on this forum is incredible. Considering it's about us actually signing an exciting prospect.

Abdennour was sold after the CL tie

It may have been he wanted to give Hernandez another go. Or maybe the loan for Adnan and selling of Hernandez made him bring it forward.
Just because we buy late does not make it a panic buy.

It was official after it but he didn't play a single match for them because it was understood he was leaving.

You're right, there is no absolute certainty. Just saying what it looks like to me, hopefully I'm completely wrong.

7 years from now Utd will be selling Martial to Real for 150m and Wenger will say I spotted him first and was very close to signing him

Wenger would have been retired by then.

He might still say it though, if it were to happen.

Nah... I suspect a Parisian girlfriend convincing him to run his contract down leaving us with no option but to sell him at a fraction of his value to PSG on deadline day because she thinks Manchester is a dive

I can't believe 85 people believe that this is a 'brilliant buy'.

Nobody knew who he fecking was until this morning. The fee (even the conservative version of what is being reported) isn't even close to being in any way sane. It seems that we're paying a fee that would normally buy a world class proven player for some kid who has less experience than many of our own kids who we ship out on loan (e.g. Januzaj). It's fecking madness.

Any kind of excitement that this transfer could of generated has been totally nullified by the decision to loan out Januzaj. I'm really not bothered who we sign anymore:(

this. crazy money for a kid. we've set a lot of records lately; di maria, shaw, etc and now this.... what are our scouts and negotiators doing?

I don't even know of this lad. 36m suggests he is a starter though, so I wait with excitement to see him in a United shirt.

For god sake. Why are we braking records and bidding huge fee,s for young kids who haven't proven anything. This signing should be griezmann

There's a difference between it being a brilliant buy and a brilliant deal. I think it's too expensive (though as I've already explained I don't really concern myself with the signing fees), but I think it's an excellent prospect we've signed and therefore it's a great buy.

Are there any good youtube videos of the guy so I can get excited about him?

its really not like that, well for me anyway

Its just baffling how the club is conducting its business over these past 3 seasons

It hasnt been normal

Lazy comparisons.

French, young, black, forward, tall and plays for Monaco.

They are nothing a like, football wise. I would say his style of play was more like Danny Welbeck, all jokes a side.

If the redcafe meltdown thread doesnt get some nice bumps today, i dont know. Hilarious some tweets. The United is a shambles and anti-Martial brigade is truly out today.
You totally missed what's the real issue here. It's not the teenager who's the focus of casting of doubt. It's how we do business in the transfer policy and how we have or have not utilised our own resources and players and what to add or kick to strengthen and rescue. If you don't see the issues beyond a record signing of a teenager who's basically an unknown, it will be your problem. The burden on the teenager would be immense. Is he coming in to learn the trade (of trophy winning) and gaining experience by working with legends, or is he expecting to be coming in to make it big instantly scoring loads? There are just so many things he has to take in it's not fair to him. Not pressure from fans or expectation from fans please

How can we be spending this much money on a kid who I have never even heard of? We are getting trolled by waiting too late in the window after our top attacking targets failed to materialize.

It is either pay the feckig money or not. So Martial for this price or not. Thats what i meant. I dont doubt that people like him and would take him for 20m, but the price is higher. I take it how it is.

Anyone else think that this has dodgy dealings written all over it?

Who's his agent?

He looks like the guy from 'Everybody Hates Chris' too.

Can't we compare them both?
